7 Sapagka't itong si Melquisedec, hari sa Salem, saserdote ng Kataastaasang Dios, na siyang sumalubong kay Abraham sa pagbabalik na galing sa paglipol sa mga hari at siya'y pinagpala niya,
2 Na siya namang binahagihan ni Abraham ng ikasangpung bahagi ng lahat (na kung sasaysayin, una-una, siya'y Hari ng katuwiran, at saka Hari naman sa Salem, na sa makatuwid, ay Hari ng kapayapaan;
3 Na walang ama, walang ina, walang tandaan ng lahi, at walang pasimula ng mga araw ni katapusan ng buhay man, datapuwa't naging katulad ng Anak ng Dios), ay nanatiling saserdote magpakailan man.
4 Nilaynilayin nga ninyo kung gaano ang kadakilaan ng taong ito, na binigyan ni Abraham, na patriarka, ng ikasangpung bahagi ng mga pinakamagagaling na samsam.
5 At katotohanan ang mga sa anak ni Levi na nagsisitanggap ng katungkulang saserdote, ay mayroong utos na kumuha ng ikasangpung bahagi sa bayan ayon sa kautusan, sa makatuwid ay sa kanilang mga kapatid, bagama't ang mga ito ay nagsilabas sa mga balakang ni Abraham:
6 Nguni't yaong ang talaan ng lahi ay hindi ibinibilang sa kanila ay kumuha ng ikasangpung bahagi kay Abraham, at pinagpala yaong may mga pangako.
7 Datapuwa't walang anomang pagtatalo ang mababa ay pinagpapala ng mataas.
8 At dito'y ang mga taong may kamatayan ay tumatanggap ng ikasangpung bahagi; datapuwa't doon ay ang isa, na pinatutunayang nabubuhay.
9 At sa makatuwid baga'y sa pamamagitan ni Abraham pati si Levi, na tumatanggap ng ikasangpung bahagi, ay nagbayad ng ikasangpung bahagi;
10 Sapagka't siya'y nasa mga balakang pa ng kaniyang ama, nang ito'y salubungin ni Melquisedec.
11 Ngayon kung may kasakdalan nga sa pamamagitan ng pagkasaserdote ng mga Levita (sapagka't sa ilalim nito ay tinanggap ng bayan ang kautusan), anong kailangan pa na magbangon ang ibang saserdote, ayon sa pagkasaserdote ni Melquisedec at hindi ibilang ayon sa pagkasaserdote ni Aaron?
12 Sapagka't nang palitan ang pagkasaserdote ay kinailangang palitan naman ang kautusan.
13 Sapagka't yaong tungkol sa kaniya ay sinasabi ang mga bagay na ito ay naukol sa ibang angkan, na doon ang sinoma'y hindi naglilingkod sa dambana.
14 Sapagka't maliwanag na ang ating Panginoon ay lumitaw mula kay Juda; na tungkol sa angkang yao'y walang sinalitang anoman si Moises hinggil sa mga saserdote.
15 At lalo pang napakaliwanag ito, kung ayon sa anyo ni Melquisedec ay lumitaw ang ibang saserdote,
16 Na ginawa, hindi ayon sa kautusan ng utos na ukol sa laman, kundi ayon sa kapangyarihan ng isang buhay na walang katapusan:
17 Sapagka't pinatotohanan tungkol sa kaniya, Ikaw ay saserdote magpakailan man Ayon sa pagkasaserdote ni Melquisedec.
18 Sapagka't napapawi ang unang utos dahil sa kaniyang kahinaan at kawalan ng kapakinabangan.
19 (Sapagka't ang kautusan ay walang anomang pinasasakdal), at may pagpapasok ng isang pagasang lalong magaling, na sa pamamagitan nito ay nagsisilapit tayo sa Dios.
20 At yamang yao'y hindi naging sa walang sumpa:
21 (Sapagka't sila'y sa katotohanan ay ginawang mga saserdote na walang sumpa; datapuwa't siya'y may sumpa sa pamamagitan niyaong nagsasabi tungkol sa kaniya, Sumumpa ang Panginoon at hindi siya nagsisisi, Ikaw ay saserdote magpakailan man);
22 Ay gayon din naman si Jesus ay naging tagapanagot sa lalong mabuting tipan.
23 At katotohanang sila'y marami sa bilang na naging mga saserdote, sapagka't dahil sa kamatayan ay napigil sila ng pagpapatuloy:
24 Datapuwa't siya, sapagka't namamalagi magpakailan man ay may pagkasaserdote siyang di mapapalitan.
25 Dahil dito naman siya'y nakapagliligtas na lubos sa mga nagsisilapit sa Dios sa pamamagitan niya, palibhasa'y laging nabubuhay siya upang mamagitan sa kanila.
26 Sapagka't nararapat sa atin ang gayong dakilang saserdoteng banal, walang sala, walang dungis, nahihiwalay sa mga makasalanan, at ginawang lalong mataas pa kay sa mga langit;
27 Na hindi nangangailangan araw-araw na maghandog ng hain, na gaya niyaong mga dakilang saserdote una-una'y patungkol sa kaniyang sariling mga kasalanan at saka patungkol sa mga kasalanan ng bayan: sapagka't ito'y ginawa niyang minsan magpakailan man, nang kaniyang ihandog ang kaniyang sarili.
28 Sapagka't inilagay ng kautusan na mga dakilang saserdote ang mga taong may kahinaan; nguni't ang salita ng sumpa na kasunod ng kautusan ay siyang naglalagay sa Anak, na sakdal magpakailan man.

Ang Pagkapari ni Melquizedek
7 Ang (A) Melquizedek na ito, hari ng Salem at pari ng Kataas-taasang Diyos, ay sumalubong kay Abraham sa pagbabalik niya galing sa paglipol sa mga hari, at siya’y binasbasan nito. 2 Sa kanya ibinigay ni Abraham ang ikasampung bahagi ng lahat. Una sa lahat, si Melquizedek ay hari ng katuwiran; ito ang kahulugan ng kanyang pangalan. At dahil hari siya ng Salem, siya ay hari din ng kapayapaan. 3 Walang binanggit na ama o ina o talaan ng kanyang angkan o maging tungkol sa kanyang kapanganakan o kamatayan. Tulad ng Anak ng Diyos, siya ay nanatiling pari magpakailanman.
4 Masdan ninyo kung gaano kadakila ang taong ito! Maging si Abraham na patriyarka ay nagkaloob sa kanya ng ikasampung bahagi ng kanyang mga nasamsam mula sa labanan. 5 Ang (B) mga pari mula sa angkan ni Levi ay itinatakda ng Kautusan na tumanggap ang ikasampung bahagi mula sa taong-bayan, na kanilang mga kapatid, kahit ang mga ito ay mula rin kay Abraham. 6 Ngunit si Melquizedek, bagamat hindi mula sa lahi ni Levi, ay tumanggap ng ikasampung bahagi mula kay Abraham. At binasbasan ni Melquizedek si Abraham na siyang pinangakuan ng Diyos. 7 Walang alinlangan na ang mas mababa ay tumatanggap ng basbas mula sa mas nakakataas. 8 Sa isang banda, ang mga pari na tumatanggap ng ikasampung bahagi ay namamatay; sa kabila naman, ang tumanggap ay pinatutunayang nanatiling buháy. 9 Maaari pang sabihin na maging si Levi na tumatanggap ng mga ikasampung bahagi ay nagbayad ng ikasampung bahagi sa pamamagitan ni Abraham, 10 sapagkat nang siya’y salubungin ni Melquizedek, si Levi ay nasa katawan pa ng kanyang ninunong Abraham.
11 Ngayon, kung ang pagiging sakdal ay makakamit sa pamamagitan ng pagkapari ng mga Levita, yamang tinanggap ng bayan ang Kautusan sa pamamagitan ng mga paring Levita—bakit kinailangan pa na may lumitaw na isang pari ayon sa pagkapari ni Melquizedek at hindi ayon sa pagkapari ni Aaron? 12 Sapagkat kapag may pagbabago sa pagkapari, kailangan ding may pagbabago sa Kautusan. 13 Sapagkat ang tinutukoy ng mga bagay na ito ay kabilang sa ibang angkan, at mula sa angkang iyon ay wala pang sinuman na naglingkod sa dambana. 14 Maliwanag na ang ating Panginoon ay nagmula sa Juda, at walang sinabing anuman si Moises tungkol sa mga pari kaugnay ng liping iyon. 15 Lalo pa itong naging maliwanag nang lumitaw ang isang pari na kagaya ni Melquizedek, 16 siya ay naging pari, hindi dahil sa itinatakda ng batas ukol sa lahing pinagmulan, kundi ayon sa kapangyarihan ng isang buhay na hindi mapupuksa. 17 Sapagkat (C) pinapatotohanan,
“Ikaw ay pari magpakailanman,
ayon sa pagkapari ni Melquizedek.”
18 Sa isang dako'y pinawalang bisa ang naunang alituntunin sapagkat ito ay mahina at walang pakinabang, 19 yamang hindi nagawa ng Kautusan na maging sakdal ang sinuman. Sa kabilang dako nama'y ipinakilala ang higit na mabuting pag-asa, at sa pamamagitan nito ay lumalapit tayo sa Diyos.
20 At ang pagiging pari ni Jesus ay may kasamang panunumpa, hindi kagaya ng mga nauna na naging pari na walang kasamang panunumpa. 21 Subalit (D) siya ay naging pari na mayroong panunumpa nang sabihin ng Diyos sa kanya,
“Nanumpa ang Panginoon
at hindi siya magbabago ng kanyang isip,
‘Ikaw ay pari magpakailanman.’ ”
22 Dahil dito, si Jesus ang naging katiyakan ng mas mabuting tipan. 23 Bukod dito, kailangan noon ang maraming pari sapagkat hinahadlangan ng kamatayan ang pagpapatuloy nila sa tungkulin. 24 Subalit dahil nananatili si Jesus magpakailanman, ang kanyang pagkapari ay walang katapusan. 25 Dahil dito, sa lahat ng panahon ay kaya niyang iligtas ang lahat[a] ng lumalapit sa Diyos sa pamamagitan niya, yamang lagi siyang nabubuhay upang mamagitan para sa kanila.
26 Nararapat lang, kung gayon, na magkaroon tayo ng ganoong Kataas-taasang Pari na banal, walang sala, walang dungis, inihiwalay sa mga makasalanan, at naging mas mataas kaysa mga langit. 27 Hindi (E) katulad ng ibang mga Kataas-taasang Pari, hindi niya kailangang maghandog ng alay araw-araw, una'y para sa kanyang sariling mga kasalanan, at para na rin sa mga kasalanan ng bayan. Nang ihandog niya ang kanyang sarili, ang kanyang handog ay minsan lamang, at ang bisa'y magpakailanman. 28 Sapagkat ang hinihirang ng Kautusan bilang mga Kataas-taasang Pari ay mga taong may kahinaan; ngunit ang salita ng panunumpa sa pagkapari na dumating pagkatapos ng Kautusan ay humirang sa Anak, na ginawang sakdal magpakailanman.

The Priestly Order of Melchizedek
7 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him. 2 To him Abraham also gave a tenth part of everything. In the first place, his name is translated “king of righteousness,” and then also he is king of Salem, which means “king of peace.” 3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, he continually remains a priest.
4 Now consider how great this man was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave a tenth of the spoils. 5 Surely the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a command to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, from their brothers, though they also come from the seed of Abraham. 6 But this man, whose descent is not numbered among them, received tithes from Abraham and blessed him who had the promises. 7 Without question, the inferior is blessed by the superior. 8 In the one case mortal men receive tithes, but in the other he of whom it is witnessed that he is alive receives them. 9 One might say that Levi also, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham, 10 for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met Abraham.
11 If perfection were attained through the Levitical priesthood (for through it the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should rise in the order of Melchizedek, rather than established in the order of Aaron? 12 For a change in the priesthood necessitates a change in the law. 13 For the One concerning whom these things are spoken pertains to another tribe, from which no man served at the altar. 14 For it is evident that our Lord descended from Judah, a tribe concerning which Moses said nothing about priests. 15 This is far more evident when another priest arises in the likeness of Melchizedek, 16 who becomes a priest not by a law pertaining to ancestry, but by the power of an endless life. 17 For He testifies:
“You are a priest forever,
in the order of Melchizedek.”[a]
18 For there is then an annulling of the previous commandment due to its weakness and uselessness. 19 For the law made nothing perfect, but now a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.
20 And He was not made a priest without an oath. 21 (Other priests were made without an oath, but this One with an oath by the One who said to Him:
“The Lord has sworn
and will not relent,
‘You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.’ ”[b])
22 Through this oath Jesus became the guarantor of a better covenant.
23 And the former priests were numerous because they were hindered from serving because of death. 24 But He, because He lives forever, has an everlasting priesthood. 25 Therefore He is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, because He at all times lives to make intercession for them.
26 For such a High Priest was fitting for us, for He is holy, innocent, undefiled, separate from sinners, and is higher than the heavens. 27 Unlike those high priests, He does not need to offer daily sacrifices—first for His own sins and then for the people’s, for He did this once for all when He offered up Himself. 28 For the law appoints men who are weak as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints a Son who is made perfect forever.

Melchizedek the Priest
7 This Melchizedek was king of Salem(A) and priest of God Most High.(B) He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him,(C) 2 and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, the name Melchizedek means “king of righteousness”; then also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace.” 3 Without father or mother, without genealogy,(D) without beginning of days or end of life, resembling the Son of God,(E) he remains a priest forever.
4 Just think how great he was: Even the patriarch(F) Abraham gave him a tenth of the plunder!(G) 5 Now the law requires the descendants of Levi who become priests to collect a tenth from the people(H)—that is, from their fellow Israelites—even though they also are descended from Abraham. 6 This man, however, did not trace his descent from Levi, yet he collected a tenth from Abraham and blessed(I) him who had the promises.(J) 7 And without doubt the lesser is blessed by the greater. 8 In the one case, the tenth is collected by people who die; but in the other case, by him who is declared to be living.(K) 9 One might even say that Levi, who collects the tenth, paid the tenth through Abraham, 10 because when Melchizedek met Abraham, Levi was still in the body of his ancestor.
Jesus Like Melchizedek
11 If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood—and indeed the law given to the people(L) established that priesthood—why was there still need for another priest to come,(M) one in the order of Melchizedek,(N) not in the order of Aaron? 12 For when the priesthood is changed, the law must be changed also. 13 He of whom these things are said belonged to a different tribe,(O) and no one from that tribe has ever served at the altar.(P) 14 For it is clear that our Lord descended from Judah,(Q) and in regard to that tribe Moses said nothing about priests. 15 And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears, 16 one who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. 17 For it is declared:
18 The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless(S) 19 (for the law made nothing perfect),(T) and a better hope(U) is introduced, by which we draw near to God.(V)
20 And it was not without an oath! Others became priests without any oath, 21 but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him:
22 Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantor of a better covenant.(Y)
23 Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; 24 but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.(Z) 25 Therefore he is able to save(AA) completely[c] those who come to God(AB) through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.(AC)
26 Such a high priest(AD) truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners,(AE) exalted above the heavens.(AF) 27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices(AG) day after day, first for his own sins,(AH) and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all(AI) when he offered himself.(AJ) 28 For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness;(AK) but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son,(AL) who has been made perfect(AM) forever.

14 For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.
15 And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest,
16 Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.
17 For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.
19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.
20 And inasmuch as not without an oath he was made priest:
21 (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)
22 By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.
23 And they truly were many priests, because they were not suffered to continue by reason of death:
24 But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.
28 For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.
