Ang Pagtawag kay Saulo(A)
9 Samantala, patuloy ang pagbabanta ni Saulo na maipapatay ang mga alagad ng Panginoon. Lumapit siya sa Pinakapunong Pari ng mga Judio 2 at humingi ng mga sulat para sa mga sinagoga sa Damasco upang madakip niya at madala sa Jerusalem ang sinumang lalaki o babae na matagpuan niya roong kaanib sa Daan ng Panginoon.[a]
3 Naglakbay si Saulo papuntang Damasco, at nang siya'y malapit na sa lungsod, biglang kumislap sa paligid niya ang isang nakakasilaw na liwanag mula sa langit. 4 Natumba siya sa lupa at narinig niya ang isang tinig na nagsasabi, “Saulo, Saulo! Bakit mo ako inuusig?”
5 “Sino kayo, Panginoon?” tanong niya.
“Ako si Jesus, ang iyong inuusig,” tugon ng tinig sa kanya. 6 “Tumayo ka't pumasok sa lungsod, at doo'y sasabihin sa iyo kung ano ang dapat mong gawin.”
7 Natigilan at hindi makapagsalita ang mga kasama ni Saulo nang marinig nila ang tinig ngunit wala naman silang makitang nagsasalita. 8 Tumayo si Saulo at pagmulat niya ay hindi siya makakita, kaya't siya'y inakay ng mga kasama niya at dinala sa Damasco. 9 Hindi siya nakakita sa loob ng tatlong araw at hindi rin siya kumain ni uminom.
10 Sa Damasco ay may isang alagad na ang pangala'y Ananias. Tinawag siya ng Panginoon sa pamamagitan ng isang pangitain, “Ananias!”
“Ano po iyon, Panginoon,” tugon niya.
11 Sinabi ng Panginoon, “Pumunta ka sa kalyeng tinatawag na Tuwid, sa bahay ni Judas, at ipagtanong mo ang isang lalaking taga-Tarso na ang pangala'y Saulo. Siya'y nananalangin ngayon. 12 [Sa isang pangitain],[b] nakita ka niyang pumasok sa kinaroroonan niya at pinatungan mo siya ng kamay upang siya'y makakitang muli.”
13 Sumagot si Ananias, “Panginoon, marami na po akong nabalitaan tungkol sa taong ito at sa mga kasamaang ginawa niya sa inyong mga hinirang sa Jerusalem. 14 At naparito siya sa Damasco, taglay ang kapangyarihang galing sa mga punong pari ng mga Judio, upang dakpin ang lahat ng tumatawag sa iyong pangalan.”
15 Ngunit sinabi sa kanya ng Panginoon, “Pumunta ka roon, sapagkat siya'y pinili ko upang ipakilala ang aking pangalan sa mga Hentil, sa mga hari, at sa mga anak ng Israel. 16 Ipapakita ko sa kanya ang lahat ng dapat niyang tiisin alang-alang sa akin.”
17 Pumunta nga si Ananias sa naturang bahay at pumasok dito. Ipinatong niya ang kanyang mga kamay kay Saulo at sinabi niya, “Kapatid na Saulo, pinapunta ako rito ng Panginoong Jesus na nagpakita sa iyo sa daan nang ikaw ay papunta rito. Isinugo niya ako upang muli kang makakita at upang mapuspos ka ng Espiritu Santo.” 18 Noon(B) di'y may nalaglag na tila mga kaliskis mula sa mga mata ni Saulo at nakakita siyang muli. Tumayo siya at nagpabautismo. 19 Kumain siya at nagbalik ang kanyang lakas.
Nangaral si Saulo sa Damasco
Si Saulo'y ilang araw na kasa-kasama ng mga alagad sa Damasco. 20 At agad siyang nangaral sa mga sinagoga na si Jesus ang Anak ng Diyos. 21 Nagtaka ang lahat ng nakarinig sa kanya. “Hindi ba ito ang dating umuusig doon sa Jerusalem sa mga tumatawag sa pangalan ni Jesus?” tanong nila. “Hindi ba't naparito nga siya upang sila'y dakpin at dalhing nakagapos sa mga punong pari?”
22 Ngunit lalong naging makapangyarihan ang pangangaral ni Saulo at walang maisagot ang mga Judiong naninirahan sa Damasco sa kanyang pagpapatunay na si Jesus ang Cristo.
23 Pagkaraan(C) ng maraming araw, nagkaisa ang mga Judio na patayin si Saulo. 24 Araw at gabi ay inaabangan nila si Saulo sa mga pintuang-bayan para patayin, ngunit nalaman niya ito. 25 Kaya't isang gabi, inilagay siya ng kanyang mga alagad sa isang basket at ibinabâ sa kabila ng pader.
Si Saulo sa Jerusalem
26 Pagdating ni Saulo sa Jerusalem, sinikap niyang mapabilang sa mga alagad doon. Ngunit silang lahat ay takot sa kanya dahil hindi sila makapaniwalang isa na siyang alagad. 27 Subalit dinala siya ni Bernabe sa mga apostol at isinalaysay nito sa kanila kung paano nagpakita at nakipag-usap ang Panginoon kay Saulo nang ito'y nasa daan papunta sa Damasco. Sinabi rin ni Bernabe na buong tapang na nangaral sa Damasco si Saulo sa pangalan ni Jesus. 28 Kaya mula noon, si Saulo'y kasa-kasama na nila sa buong Jerusalem, at buong tapang na nangangaral doon sa pangalan ng Panginoon. 29 Nakipag-usap din siya at nakipagtalo sa mga Helenista, kaya't tinangka nilang patayin siya. 30 Nalaman ito ng mga kapatid kaya't inihatid nila si Saulo sa Cesarea at pinauwi sa Tarso.
31 Kaya't ang iglesya sa buong Judea, Galilea at Samaria ay naging mapayapa at matatag. At patuloy silang namuhay na may takot sa Panginoon, at sa tulong ng Espiritu Santo ay lumago sila.
Nagpunta si Pedro sa Lida at sa Joppa
32 Naglalakbay noon si Pedro sa mga bayan-bayan upang dalawin ang mga hinirang ng Panginoon. Pagdating niya sa Lida, 33 natagpuan niya roon ang isang lalaking nagngangalang Eneas. Ito'y isang paralitiko at walong taon nang nakaratay. 34 Sinabi ni Pedro sa kanya, “Eneas, pinapagaling ka ni Jesu-Cristo. Tumayo ka't iligpit mo ang iyong higaan!”
At agad siyang tumayo. 35 Nakita siya ng lahat ng naninirahan sa Lida at Saron, at sila'y sumunod sa Panginoon.
36 Sa Joppa naman ay may isang alagad na babae na ang pangalan ay Tabita. Sa wikang Griego, ang kanyang pangalan ay Dorcas[c]. Ginugol niya ang kanyang panahon sa paggawa ng kabutihan at pagkakawanggawa. 37 Nang mga araw na iyon, nagkasakit siya at namatay. Nilinis ang kanyang bangkay at ibinurol ito sa silid sa itaas. 38 Malapit lang sa Joppa ang Lida. Kaya't nang mabalitaan ng mga alagad na si Pedro ay nasa Lida, nagsugo sila ng dalawang lalaki upang siya'y pakiusapang pumunta agad sa Joppa. 39 Sumama naman sa kanila si Pedro, at pagdating doon, dinala siya sa silid sa itaas. Kaagad lumapit sa kanya ang lahat ng mga biyuda; umiiyak sila at ipinapakita ang mga damit at mga balabal na ginawa ni Dorcas para sa kanila noong ito'y nabubuhay pa. 40 Pinalabas ni Pedro ang lahat at siya'y lumuhod at nanalangin. Pagkatapos, humarap siya sa bangkay at sinabi, “Tabita, bumangon ka!” Dumilat si Tabita at naupo nang makita nito si Pedro. 41 Hinawakan ni Pedro ang kanyang kamay at tinulungang bumangon. 9 Meanwhile Saul, [a]still drawing his breath hard from threatening and murderous desire against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest
2 And requested of him letters to the synagogues at Damascus [authorizing him], so that if he found any men or women belonging to the Way [of life as determined by faith in Jesus Christ], he might bring them bound [with chains] to Jerusalem.
3 Now as he traveled on, he came near to Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him,
4 And he fell to the ground. Then he heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me [harassing, troubling, and molesting Me]?
5 And Saul said, Who are You, Lord? And He said, I am Jesus, Whom you are persecuting. [b]It is dangerous and it will turn out badly for you to keep kicking against the goad [to offer vain and perilous resistance].
6 Trembling and astonished he asked, Lord, what do You desire me to do? The Lord said to him, But arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.
7 The men who were accompanying him were unable to speak [for terror], hearing the voice but seeing no one.
8 Then Saul got up from the ground, but though his eyes were opened, he could see nothing; so they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus.
9 And he was unable to see for three days, and he neither ate nor drank [anything].
10 Now there was in Damascus a disciple named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, Ananias. And he answered, Here am I, Lord.
11 And the Lord said to him, Get up and go to the street called Straight and ask at the house of Judas for a man of Tarsus named Saul, for behold, he is praying [there].
12 And he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias enter and lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight.
13 But Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard many people tell about this man, especially how much evil and what great suffering he has brought on Your saints at Jerusalem;
14 Now he is here and has authority from the high priests to put in chains all who call upon Your name.
15 But the Lord said to him, Go, for this man is a chosen instrument of Mine to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the descendants of Israel;
16 For I will make clear to him how much he will be afflicted and must endure and suffer for My name’s sake.
17 So Ananias left and went into the house. And he laid his hands on Saul and said, Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, Who appeared to you along the way by which you came here, has sent me that you may recover your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.
18 And instantly something like scales fell from [Saul’s] eyes, and he recovered his sight. Then he arose and was baptized,
19 And after he took some food, he was strengthened. For several days [afterward] he remained with the disciples at Damascus.
20 And immediately in the synagogues he proclaimed Jesus, saying, He is the Son of God!
21 And all who heard him were amazed and said, Is not this the very man who harassed and overthrew and destroyed in Jerusalem those who called upon this Name? And he has come here for the express purpose of arresting them and bringing them in chains before the chief priests.
22 But Saul increased all the more in strength, and continued to confound and put to confusion the Jews who lived in Damascus by comparing and examining evidence and proving that Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah).
23 After considerable time had elapsed, the Jews conspired to put Saul out of the way by slaying him,
24 But [the knowledge of] their plot was made known to Saul. They were guarding the [city’s] gates day and night to kill him,
25 But his disciples took him at night and let him down through the [city’s] wall, lowering him in a basket or hamper.
26 And when he had arrived in Jerusalem, he tried to associate himself with the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, for they did not believe he really was a disciple.
27 However, Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles, and he explained to them how along the way he had seen the Lord, Who spoke to him, and how at Damascus he had preached freely and confidently and courageously in the name of Jesus.
28 So he went in and out [as one] among them at Jerusalem,
29 Preaching freely and confidently and boldly in the name of the Lord. And he spoke and discussed with and disputed against the Hellenists (the Grecian Jews), but they were seeking to slay him.
30 And when the brethren found it out, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus [his home town].
31 So the church throughout the whole of Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was edified [growing in wisdom, virtue, and piety] and walking in the respect and reverential fear of the Lord and in the consolation and exhortation of the Holy Spirit, continued to increase and was multiplied.
32 Now as Peter went here and there among them all, he went down also to the saints who lived at Lydda.
33 There he found a man named Aeneas, who had been bedfast for eight years and was paralyzed.
34 And Peter said to him, Aeneas, Jesus Christ (the Messiah) [now] makes you whole. Get up and make your bed! And immediately [Aeneas] stood up.
35 Then all the inhabitants of Lydda and the plain of Sharon saw [what had happened to] him and they turned to the Lord.
36 Now there was at Joppa a disciple [a woman] named [in Aramaic] Tabitha, which [in Greek] means Dorcas. She was abounding in good deeds and acts of charity.
37 About that time she fell sick and died, and when they had cleansed her, they laid [her] in an upper room.
38 Since Lydda was near Joppa [however], the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him begging him, Do come to us without delay.
39 So Peter [immediately] rose and accompanied them. And when he had arrived, they took him to the upper room. All the widows stood around him, crying and displaying undershirts (tunics) and [other] garments such as Dorcas was accustomed to make while she was with them.
40 But Peter put them all out [of the room] and knelt down and prayed; then turning to the body he said, Tabitha, get up! And she opened her eyes; and when she saw Peter, she raised herself and sat upright.
41 And he gave her his hand and lifted her up. Then calling in God’s people and the widows, he presented her to them alive.
42 And this became known throughout all Joppa, and many came to believe on the Lord [to adhere to and trust in and rely on Him as the Christ and as their Savior].
43 And Peter remained in Joppa for considerable time with a certain Simon a tanner.

The Conversion of Saul(A)
9 Saul, still breathing out threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest, 2 and requested letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any there of the Way, either men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. 3 As he went he drew near Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven shone around him. 4 He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute Me?”
5 He said, “Who are You, Lord?”
The Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.” 6 Trembling and astonished, he said, “Lord, what will You have me do?” The Lord said to him, “Rise up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”
7 The men traveling with him stood speechless, hearing the voice, but seeing no one. 8 Saul rose up from the ground. And when his eyes were opened, he saw nothing. So they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus. 9 For three days he was without sight, and neither ate nor drank.
10 A disciple named Ananias was in Damascus. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.”
He said, “Here I am, Lord.”
11 The Lord said to him, “Rise and go to Straight Street, and inquire at Judas’ house for someone named Saul of Tarsus, for he is praying, 12 and has seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him, so that he may see again.”
13 Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how many evil things he has done to Your saints at Jerusalem. 14 And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name.”
15 But the Lord said to him, “Go your way. For this man is a chosen vessel of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and their kings, and before the sons of Israel. 16 For I will show him how much he must suffer for My name’s sake.”
17 Then Ananias went his way and entered the house. Putting his hands on him, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the way as you came, has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” 18 Immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he could see again. And he rose up and was baptized. 19 When he had eaten, he was strengthened.
Saul Preaches in Damascus
For several days Saul was with the disciples in Damascus. 20 Immediately he preached in the synagogues that the Christ is the Son of God. 21 All who heard him were amazed and said, “Is not this he who killed those who called on this name in Jerusalem, and came here with that intent, to bring them bound to the chief priests?” 22 Yet Saul increased all the more with power and confounded the Jews living in Damascus, proving that this One is the Christ.
Saul Escapes from the Jews
23 After many days had passed, the Jews arranged to kill him. 24 But their scheme was known by Saul. They watched the gates day and night to kill him. 25 But the disciples took him by night, and lowered him in a basket through the wall.
Saul in Jerusalem
26 When Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples. But they all feared him, not believing he was a disciple. 27 But Barnabas took him, and led him to the apostles, and declared to them how on the road he had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken to him, and how he had boldly preached in Damascus in the name of Jesus. 28 So he stayed with them while coming in and going out of Jerusalem. 29 And he spoke boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus and disputed against the Hellenists. But they tried to kill him. 30 When the brothers learned this, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him off to Tarsus.
31 Then the churches throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and were built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.
The Healing of Aeneas
32 As Peter passed through every region, he came down also to the saints who lived in Lydda. 33 There he found a man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden for eight years and was paralyzed. 34 Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Rise up and make your bed.” And immediately he rose up. 35 All those who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord.
Dorcas Restored to Life
36 In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and almsgiving. 37 In those days she became ill and died. And when they had washed her, they placed her in an upper room. 38 Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, pleading, “Do not delay to come to us.”
39 Peter rose up and went with them. When he arrived, they led him into the upper room. All the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.
40 Peter put them all outside and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” She opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. 41 He gave her his hand and lifted her up. And when he had called the saints and widows, he presented her alive. 42 It became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord. 43 He remained in Joppa for many days with Simon, a tanner.

Saul’s Conversion(A)

5 “Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked.
“I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. 6 “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”(G)

13 “Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people(N) in Jerusalem.(O) 14 And he has come here with authority from the chief priests(P) to arrest all who call on your name.”(Q)
15 But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument(R) to proclaim my name to the Gentiles(S) and their kings(T) and to the people of Israel. 16 I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”(U)
17 Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on(V) Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”(W) 18 Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized,(X) 19 and after taking some food, he regained his strength.
Saul in Damascus and Jerusalem
Saul spent several days with the disciples(Y) in Damascus.(Z) 20 At once he began to preach in the synagogues(AA) that Jesus is the Son of God.(AB) 21 All those who heard him were astonished and asked, “Isn’t he the man who raised havoc in Jerusalem among those who call on this name?(AC) And hasn’t he come here to take them as prisoners to the chief priests?”(AD) 22 Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Messiah.(AE)
23 After many days had gone by, there was a conspiracy among the Jews to kill him,(AF) 24 but Saul learned of their plan.(AG) Day and night they kept close watch on the city gates in order to kill him. 25 But his followers took him by night and lowered him in a basket through an opening in the wall.(AH)
26 When he came to Jerusalem,(AI) he tried to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he really was a disciple. 27 But Barnabas(AJ) took him and brought him to the apostles. He told them how Saul on his journey had seen the Lord and that the Lord had spoken to him,(AK) and how in Damascus he had preached fearlessly in the name of Jesus.(AL) 28 So Saul stayed with them and moved about freely in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord. 29 He talked and debated with the Hellenistic Jews,[a](AM) but they tried to kill him.(AN) 30 When the believers(AO) learned of this, they took him down to Caesarea(AP) and sent him off to Tarsus.(AQ)
31 Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria(AR) enjoyed a time of peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.(AS)
Aeneas and Dorcas
32 As Peter traveled about the country, he went to visit the Lord’s people(AT) who lived in Lydda. 33 There he found a man named Aeneas, who was paralyzed and had been bedridden for eight years. 34 “Aeneas,” Peter said to him, “Jesus Christ heals you.(AU) Get up and roll up your mat.” Immediately Aeneas got up. 35 All those who lived in Lydda and Sharon(AV) saw him and turned to the Lord.(AW)
36 In Joppa(AX) there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good(AY) and helping the poor. 37 About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room.(AZ) 38 Lydda was near Joppa; so when the disciples(BA) heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him and urged him, “Please come at once!”
39 Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows(BB) stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
40 Peter sent them all out of the room;(BC) then he got down on his knees(BD) and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, “Tabitha, get up.”(BE) She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. 41 He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet. Then he called for the believers, especially the widows, and presented her to them alive. 42 This became known all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord.(BF) 43 Peter stayed in Joppa for some time with a tanner named Simon.(BG)
