Bondad de Dios y maldad de Israel
(1) Del maestro de coro, con la cítara de Gat. De Asaf.
81 (2) ¡Canten alegres a Dios, que es nuestra fuerza!
¡Alaben con gritos de alegría al Dios de Jacob!
2 (3) Canten al son del pandero,
de la dulce arpa y del salterio.
3 (4) Toquen la trompeta al llegar la luna nueva,
y también al llegar la luna llena,
que es el día de nuestra gran fiesta.
4 (5) Porque éste es el mandamiento
que el Dios de Jacob dio a Israel;
5 (6) es el mandato dado a José
cuando Dios salió contra Egipto.
Oí una voz que yo no conocía:
6 (7) «Te he quitado la carga de los hombros,
te he aliviado del trabajo duro.
7 (8) En tu angustia me llamaste, y te salvé;
te contesté desde la nube que tronaba;
te puse a prueba junto a las aguas de Meribá.
8 (9) Escucha, pueblo mío, mi advertencia;
¡ojalá me obedezcas, Israel!
9 (10) No tengas dioses extranjeros;
no adores dioses extraños.
10 (11) Yo soy el Señor, tu Dios,
el que te sacó de la tierra de Egipto;
abre tu boca, y yo te satisfaré.
11 (12) »Pero mi pueblo no quiso oírme;
¡Israel no quiso obedecerme!
12 (13) Por eso los dejé seguir con su capricho,
y vivieron como mejor les pareció.
13 (14) ¡Si mi pueblo me hubiera escuchado!
¡Si Israel hubiera seguido mis caminos,
14 (15) en un abrir y cerrar de ojos
yo habría humillado a sus enemigos
y castigado a sus contrarios!»
15 (16) Los que odian al Señor caerían aterrados,
y su condenación quedaría sellada.
16 (17) Dios alimentaría a su pueblo con lo mejor del trigo,
y con miel silvestre apagaría su sed.

For the director of music. According to gittith.[b] Of Asaph.
1 Sing for joy to God our strength;
shout aloud to the God of Jacob!(A)
2 Begin the music, strike the timbrel,(B)
play the melodious harp(C) and lyre.(D)
3 Sound the ram’s horn(E) at the New Moon,(F)
and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival;
4 this is a decree for Israel,
an ordinance of the God of Jacob.(G)
5 When God went out against Egypt,(H)
he established it as a statute for Joseph.
I heard an unknown voice say:(I)
6 “I removed the burden(J) from their shoulders;(K)
their hands were set free from the basket.
7 In your distress you called(L) and I rescued you,
I answered(M) you out of a thundercloud;
I tested you at the waters of Meribah.[c](N)
8 Hear me, my people,(O) and I will warn you—
if you would only listen to me, Israel!
9 You shall have no foreign god(P) among you;
you shall not worship any god other than me.
10 I am the Lord your God,
who brought you up out of Egypt.(Q)
Open(R) wide your mouth and I will fill(S) it.
11 “But my people would not listen to me;
Israel would not submit to me.(T)
12 So I gave them over(U) to their stubborn hearts
to follow their own devices.
13 “If my people would only listen to me,(V)
if Israel would only follow my ways,
14 how quickly I would subdue(W) their enemies
and turn my hand against(X) their foes!
15 Those who hate the Lord would cringe(Y) before him,
and their punishment would last forever.
16 But you would be fed with the finest of wheat;(Z)
with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

A Call to Obedience
For the choir director: on the Gittith. Of Asaph.(A)
1 Sing for joy to God our strength;
shout in triumph to the God of Jacob.(B)
2 Lift up a song—play the tambourine,
the melodious lyre, and the harp.(C)
3 Blow the horn on the day of our feasts[a][b]
during the new moon(D)
and during the full moon.
4 For this is a statute for Israel,
a judgment of the God of Jacob.(E)
5 He set it up as an ordinance for Joseph
when He went throughout[c] the land of Egypt.(F)
I heard an unfamiliar language:
6 “I relieved his shoulder from the burden;
his hands were freed from carrying the basket.(G)
7 You called out in distress, and I rescued you;
I answered you from the thundercloud.(H)
I tested you at the waters of Meribah.(I)
8 Listen, My people, and I will admonish you.
Israel, if you would only listen to Me!(J)
9 There must not be a strange god among you;
you must not bow down to a foreign god.(K)
10 I am Yahweh your God,
who brought you up from the land of Egypt.(L)
Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.(M)
11 “But My people did not listen to Me;
Israel did not obey Me.(N)
12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts
to follow their own plans.(O)
13 If only My people would listen to Me
and Israel would follow My ways,(P)
14 I would quickly subdue their enemies
and turn My hand against their foes.”(Q)
15 Those who hate the Lord
would pretend submission to Him;(R)
their doom would last forever.(S)
16 But He would feed Israel[d] with the best wheat.
“I would satisfy you with honey from the rock.”(T)
