147 Purihin ang Panginoon!
Sapagkat mabuting umawit ng mga papuri sa ating Diyos;
sapagkat siya'y mapagpala at ang awit ng papuri ay naaangkop.
2 Itinatayo ng Panginoon ang Jerusalem;
kanyang tinitipon ang mga itinapon mula sa Israel.
3 Kanyang pinagagaling ang mga may pusong wasak,
at tinatalian ang kanilang mga sugat.
4 Ang bilang ng mga bituin ay kanyang binibilang,
ibinibigay niya sa kanilang lahat ang mga pangalan nila.
5 Dakila ang ating Panginoon, at sa kapangyarihan ay sagana,
hindi masukat ang kanyang unawa.
6 Inaalalayan ng Panginoon ang nahihirapan,
kanyang inilulugmok sa lupa ang masama.
7 Umawit kayo ng may pagpapasalamat sa Panginoon;
umawit kayo sa lira ng mga papuri sa ating Diyos!
8 Tinatakpan niya ng mga ulap ang mga kalangitan,
naghahanda siya para sa lupa ng ulan,
nagpapatubo siya ng damo sa kabundukan.
9 Siya'y nagbibigay sa hayop ng kanilang pagkain,
at sa mga inakay na uwak na nagsisidaing.
10 Ang kanyang kaluguran ay wala sa lakas ng kabayo,
ni ang kanyang kasiyahan sa mga binti ng tao,
11 ngunit ang Panginoon ay nalulugod sa mga natatakot sa kanya,
sa kanyang tapat na pag-ibig ay umaasa.
12 Purihin mo, O Jerusalem, ang Panginoon!
Purihin mo ang iyong Diyos, O Zion!
13 Sapagkat kanyang pinapatibay ang mga rehas ng iyong mga tarangkahan,
pinagpapala niya ang mga anak mo sa loob mo.
14 Siya'y gumagawa ng kapayapaan sa iyong mga hangganan;
binubusog ka niya ng trigong pinakamainam.
15 Kanyang sinusugo ang kanyang utos sa lupa;
mabilis na tumatakbo ang kanyang salita.
16 Siya'y nagbibigay ng niyebe na parang balahibo ng tupa;
siya'y nagkakalat ng patak ng yelo na abo ang kagaya.
17 Inihahagis niya ang kanyang yelo na parang tinapay na putol-putol,
sinong makakatagal sa harap ng lamig niyon?
18 Kanyang sinusugo ang kanyang salita, at tinutunaw ang mga iyon;
kanyang pinahihihip ang kanyang hangin, at ang tubig ay dumadaloy.
19 Kanyang ipinahayag ang kanyang salita sa Jacob,
ang kanyang mga tuntunin at mga batas sa Israel.
20 Hindi niya ito ginawa sa alinmang bansa,
at tungkol sa kanyang mga batas hindi nila ito nalalaman.

Pagpupuri dahil sa muling pagkakatayo ng Jerusalem at kasaganaan.
147 Purihin ninyo ang Panginoon; Sapagka't (A)mabuting umawit ng mga pagpuri sa ating Dios;
(B)Sapagka't maligaya, at ang pagpuri (C)ay nakalulugod.
2 (D)Itinatayo ng Panginoon ang Jerusalem;
Kaniyang pinipisan ang mga (E)natapon na Israel.
3 (F)Kaniyang pinagagaling ang mga may bagbag na puso,
At tinatalian niya ang kanilang mga sugat.
4 (G)Kaniyang sinasaysay ang bilang ng mga bituin;
Siya ang nagbibigay sa kanila ng lahat nilang pangalan.
5 Dakila ang ating Panginoon, at makapangyarihan sa kapangyarihan;
Ang kaniyang unawa ay walang hanggan,
6 (H)Inaalalayan ng Panginoon ang maamo:
Kaniyang inilulugmok sa lupa ang masama.
7 Magsiawit kayo sa Panginoon ng pagpapasalamat;
Magsiawit kayo sa alpa ng mga pagpuri sa ating Dios:
8 (I)Na nagtatakip sa mga langit ng mga alapaap.
Na siyang naghahanda ng ulan sa lupa,
na nagpapatubo ng damo sa mga bundok.
9 (J)Siya'y nagbibigay sa hayop ng kaniyang pagkain.
At sa mga inakay na uwak na nagsisidaing.
10 (K)Siya'y hindi nalulugod sa lakas ng kabayo:
Siya'y hindi nasasayahan sa mga paa ng tao.
11 Ang Panginoon ay naliligaya sa kanila na nangatatakot sa kaniya,
Sa nagsisiasa sa kaniyang kagandahang-loob.
12 Purihin mo ang Panginoon, Oh Jerusalem;
Purihin mo ang iyong Dios, Oh Sion.
13 Sapagka't kaniyang pinatibay ang mga halang ng iyong mga pintuang-bayan;
Kaniyang pinagpala ang iyong mga anak sa loob mo.
14 (L)Siya'y gumagawa ng kapayapaan sa iyong mga hangganan;
(M)Kaniyang binubusog ka ng pinakamainam na trigo.
15 Kaniyang sinusugo ang kaniyang utos sa lupa;
Ang kaniyang salita ay tumatakbong maliksi.
16 (N)Siya'y nagbibigay ng nieve na parang balahibo ng tupa;
Siya'y nagkakalat ng eskarcha na parang abo.
17 Kaniyang inihahagis na parang putol na maliit ang kaniyang hielo:
Sinong makatatagal sa harap ng lamig niyaon?
18 (O)Kaniyang pinahahatdan ng salita, at tinutunaw:
Kaniyang pinahihihip ang kaniyang hangin, at ang tubig ay pinaagos.
19 (P)Kaniyang ipinabatid ang kaniyang salita sa Jacob,
(Q)Ang kaniyang mga palatuntunan at mga kahatulan sa Israel.

1 [b]Alleluia.
How good it is to sing praises to our God;
how pleasant it is to give him fitting praise.[c]
2 The Lord restores Jerusalem
and gathers together the dispersed people of Israel.[d]
3 He heals the brokenhearted
and bandages their wounds.[e]
4 He fixes the number of the stars
and assigns a name to each.[f]
5 Great is our Lord and awesome in power;
his wisdom is without limit.[g]
6 The Lord sustains the poor
but humbles the wicked in the dust.[h]
7 [i]Offer songs of thanksgiving to the Lord;
play the lyre in honor of our God.
8 He veils the heavens with clouds,
supplies the earth with rain,
and makes the hills sprout with grass.[j]
9 He provides food for the animals
and for the young ravens when they call.[k]
10 [l]He takes no pleasure in the strength of the horse,
or delight in the fleetness of a runner.
11 The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him,
those who place their hope in his kindness.
12 [m]Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem!
Glorify your God, O Zion!
13 For he strengthens the bars of your gates
and blesses your children within you.[n]
14 He brings peace to your borders
and fills you with the finest of wheat.[o]
15 He sends a command to the earth;
his word runs with utmost speed.
16 He gives the snow like wool
and scatters the frost like ashes.[p]
17 He hurls down his hail like crumbs;
who can withstand his cold?[q]
18 He sends his word, and the ice melts;
he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow.
19 [r]He has revealed his word to Jacob,
his decrees and his judgments to Israel.
20 He has not done this for the other nations;
they are not aware of his judgments.

- Psalm 147:1 Three times the psalmist sounds the invitation to praise, and three times he acclaims the almighty God. Immense is his power deployed throughout the universe, and without measure is his benevolence for his people. He rebuilds Jerusalem, leads captives back to freedom, and reveals his law. Yet the author of wonders in nature and the liberator of his people is a God who takes pleasure in the lowly. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes” (Rev 21:4)—such will be the grace of the Almighty in the new Jerusalem (see Isa 60; 62).
In the Septuagint and Vulgate, this psalm is divided into two (147:1-11 = Ps 146; 147:12-20 = Ps 147) and attributed to the prophets Haggai and Zechariah. It contains many reminiscences of Isaiah, Job, and Psalms.
We can pray this psalm while keeping in mind that the restoration of Jerusalem and Israel after the disaster of 587 B.C. and the Babylonian Captivity constitutes a wonderful work of God. However, it is only a pale image of a more beautiful work of restoration that the heavenly Father accomplishes through Christ in building his Church. - Psalm 147:1 The psalmist enumerates the reasons why it is good to praise the Lord: the restoration that he has worked for his people in accord with his word by rebuilding Jerusalem and bringing back the exiles; his concern for all creation; and his redemption, i.e., the vindication of his people.

- Psalm 147:10 Arrogant reliance on one’s own natural ability is both futile (see Am 2:14f) and displeasing to God, who comes to the aid of those who trust only in him (see Pss 20:8f; 33:16-18; Eccl 9:11; Mal 3:16f). Kindness: see note on Ps 6:5.
- Psalm 147:12 The psalmist stresses that God is to be praised because he has brought about restoration, security, peace, and prosperity, for he alone commands the forces of nature.
