Jesus Calms a Storm

²³^(A)And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. ²⁴And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but ^(B)he was asleep. ²⁵And they went and woke him, saying, ^(C)“Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” ²⁶And he said to them, “Why are you ^(D)afraid, ^(E)O you of little faith?” Then he rose and ^(F)rebuked the winds and the sea, and ^(G)there was a great calm. ²⁷And the men ^(H)marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even ^(I)winds and sea obey him?”

³⁵^(A)On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” ³⁶And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. ³⁷And a great windstorm arose, and the waves ^(B)were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. ³⁸But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” ³⁹And he awoke and ^(C)rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and ^(D)there was a great calm. ⁴⁰He said to them, “Why are you ^(E)so afraid? Have you still no faith?” ⁴¹And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, ^(F)“Who then is this, that even ^(G)the wind and the sea obey him?”
