Ако си Божий Син, слез от кръста!“ 41 Също и първосвещениците заедно с книжниците и стареите Му се присмиваха и говореха: 42 „Други спаси, а Себе Си не може да спаси. Ако Той е израилски Цар, нека сега слезе от кръста и ще повярваме в Него. 43 (S)Уповаваше се на Бога, нека сега Го избави, ако Му е угоден, понеже бе казал: ‘Божий Син съм’.“ 44 Ругаеха Го също и разбойниците, които бяха разпънати с Него.

45 (T)А от шестия до деветия час настана тъмнина по цялата страна, 46 (U)а около деветия час Иисус извика с висок глас: „Илѝ! Илѝ! Лама̀ савахтанѝ?“, което значи: „Боже Мой, Боже Мой! 54 А стотникът и онези, които заедно с него пазеха Иисус, като видяха земетресението и всичко, което стана, твърде много се уплашиха и рекоха: „Наистина Божий Син е бил този Човек!“

55 Там бяха също много жени, които гледаха отдалеч. Те бяха последвали Иисус от Галилея и Му служеха. 56 (X)Сред тях бяха Мария Магдалина и Мария, майката на Яков и Йосия, и майката на Зеведеевите синове.

Снемане на Иисус от кръста и погребението Му

57 (Y)А когато се свечери, дойде един богат човек от Ариматея на име Йосиф, който също беше ученик на Иисус. 58 Той отиде при Пилат и поиска тялото на Иисус. Jesús es entregado a Pilato

27 Cuando llegó la mañana, todos los principales sacerdotes y los ancianos del pueblo celebraron consejo(A) contra Jesús para darle muerte. 2 Y después de atarle, le llevaron y le entregaron(B) a Pilato, el gobernador(C).

Muerte de Judas

3 Entonces Judas(D), el que le había entregado, viendo que Jesús había sido condenado, sintió remordimiento y devolvió las treinta piezas de plata(E) a los principales sacerdotes y a los ancianos, 4 diciendo: He pecado entregando sangre inocente. Pero ellos dijeron: A nosotros, ¿qué? ¡Allá tú[a](F)! 5 Y él, arrojando las piezas de plata en el santuario(G), se marchó; y fue y se ahorcó(H). 6 Y los principales sacerdotes tomaron las piezas de plata, y dijeron: No es lícito ponerlas en el tesoro del templo, puesto que es precio de sangre. 7 Y después de celebrar consejo, compraron con ellas el Campo del Alfarero para sepultura de los forasteros. 8 Por eso ese campo se ha llamado Campo de Sangre(I) hasta hoy. 9 Entonces se cumplió lo anunciado[b] por medio del profeta Jeremías, cuando dijo: (J)Y tomaron[c] las treinta piezas de plata, el precio de aquel cuyo precio había sido fijado por los hijos de Israel; 10 y las dieron[d] por el Campo del Alfarero, como el Señor me había ordenado.

Jesús ante Pilato

11 (K)Y Jesús compareció delante del gobernador, y este[e] le interrogó, diciendo: ¿Eres tú el Rey de los judíos(L)? Y Jesús le dijo: Tú lo dices(M). 12 Y al ser acusado por los principales sacerdotes y los ancianos, nada respondió(N). 13 Entonces Pilato le dijo*: ¿No oyes cuántas cosas testifican contra ti? 14 Y Jesús no le respondió ni a una sola pregunta[f], por lo que el gobernador estaba muy asombrado(O).

Jesús o Barrabás

15 (P)Ahora bien, en cada fiesta, el gobernador acostumbraba soltar un preso al pueblo, el que ellos quisieran. 16 Y tenían entonces un preso famoso, llamado Barrabás. 17 Por lo cual, cuando ellos se reunieron, Pilato les dijo: ¿A quién queréis que os suelte: a Barrabás o a Jesús, llamado el Cristo(Q)? 18 Porque él sabía que le habían entregado por envidia. 19 Y estando él sentado en el tribunal(R), su mujer le mandó aviso, diciendo: No tengas nada que ver con ese justo(S), porque hoy he sufrido mucho en sueños(T) por causa de Él. 20 Pero los principales sacerdotes y los ancianos persuadieron a las multitudes que pidieran a Barrabás y que dieran muerte a Jesús(U). 21 Y respondiendo, el gobernador les dijo: ¿A cuál de los dos queréis que os suelte? Y ellos respondieron: A Barrabás. 22 Pilato les dijo*: ¿Qué haré entonces con Jesús, llamado el Cristo(V)? Todos dijeron*: ¡Sea crucificado! 23 Y Pilato dijo: ¿Por qué? ¿Qué mal ha hecho? Pero ellos gritaban aún más, diciendo: ¡Sea crucificado! 24 Y viendo Pilato que no conseguía nada, sino que más bien se estaba formando un tumulto(W), tomó agua y se lavó las manos delante de la multitud, diciendo: Soy inocente de la sangre(X) de este justo[g](Y); ¡allá vosotros[h](Z)! 25 Y respondiendo todo el pueblo, dijo: ¡Caiga su sangre sobre nosotros(AA) y sobre nuestros hijos! 26 Entonces les soltó a Barrabás, pero a Jesús, después de hacerle azotar, le entregó para que fuera crucificado(AB).

27 (AC)Entonces los soldados del gobernador llevaron a Jesús al Pretorio(AD), y reunieron alrededor de Él a toda la cohorte[i](AE) romana. 28 Y desnudándole, le pusieron encima un manto escarlata(AF). 29 Y tejiendo una corona de espinas, se la pusieron sobre su cabeza(AG), y una caña[j] en su mano derecha; y arrodillándose delante de Él, le hacían burla, diciendo: ¡Salve, Rey de los judíos(AH)! 30 Y escupiéndole(AI), tomaban la caña y le golpeaban en la cabeza. 31 Después de haberse burlado de Él, le quitaron el manto, le pusieron sus ropas y le llevaron para crucificarle(AJ).

32 (AK)Y cuando salían, hallaron a un hombre de Cirene(AL) llamado Simón, al cual[k] obligaron a que llevara la[l] cruz.

La crucifixión

33 (AM)Cuando llegaron a un lugar llamado Gólgota, que significa Lugar de la Calavera(AN), 34 le dieron a beber vino mezclado con hiel(AO); pero después de probarlo, no lo quiso beber(AP). 35 Y habiéndole crucificado, se repartieron sus vestidos, echando suertes[m](AQ); 36 y sentados, le custodiaban allí(AR). 37 Y pusieron sobre su cabeza la acusación contra Él, que decía[n]: ESTE ES JESÚS, EL REY DE LOS JUDÍOS(AS). 38 Entonces fueron crucificados* con Él dos ladrones, uno a la derecha y otro a la izquierda. 39 Los que pasaban le injuriaban, meneando la cabeza(AT) 40 y diciendo: Tú que destruyes el templo y en tres días lo reedificas(AU), sálvate a ti mismo, si eres el Hijo de Dios, y desciende de la cruz(AV). 41 De igual manera, también los principales sacerdotes, junto con los escribas y los ancianos, burlándose de Él, decían: 42 A otros salvó; a sí mismo no puede salvarse[o](AW). Rey de Israel es(AX); que baje ahora de la cruz, y creeremos en Él. 43 En Dios confía; que le libre ahora si Él le quiere(AY); porque ha dicho: «Yo soy el Hijo de Dios». 44 En la misma forma le injuriaban también los ladrones que habían sido crucificados con Él(AZ).

Muerte de Jesús

45 (BA)Y desde la hora sexta[p] hubo oscuridad sobre toda la tierra hasta la hora novena[q]. 46 Y alrededor de la hora novena, Jesús exclamó a gran voz, diciendo: Elí, Elí, ¿lema sabactani? Esto es: Dios mío, Dios mío, ¿por qué me has abandonado(BB)? 47 Algunos de los que estaban allí, al oírlo, decían: Este llama a Elías. 48 Y al instante, uno de ellos corrió, y tomando una esponja, la empapó en vinagre, y poniéndola en una caña, le dio a beber(BC). 49 Pero los otros dijeron: Deja, veamos si Elías viene a salvarle[r]. 50 Entonces Jesús, clamando otra vez a gran voz, exhaló el espíritu(BD). 51 (BE)Y he aquí, el velo del templo se rasgó en dos, de arriba abajo(BF), y la tierra tembló(BG) y las rocas se partieron; 52 y los sepulcros se abrieron, y los cuerpos de muchos santos que habían dormido(BH) resucitaron; 53 y saliendo de los sepulcros, después de la resurrección de Jesús[s], entraron en la santa ciudad(BI) y se aparecieron a muchos. 54 El centurión y los que estaban con él custodiando a Jesús(BJ), cuando vieron el terremoto(BK) y las cosas que sucedían, se asustaron mucho, y dijeron: En verdad este era Hijo de Dios[t](BL). 55 Y muchas mujeres(BM) que habían seguido a Jesús desde Galilea para servirle(BN), estaban allí, mirando de lejos; 56 entre las cuales estaban María Magdalena, María la madre de Jacobo y de José(BO), y la madre de los hijos de Zebedeo(BP).

Sepultura de Jesús

57 (BQ)Y al atardecer, vino un hombre rico de Arimatea, llamado José, que también se había convertido en discípulo de Jesús. 58 Este se presentó a Pilato y le pidió el cuerpo de Jesús. Entonces Pilato ordenó que se lo entregaran. 59 Tomando José el cuerpo, lo envolvió en un lienzo limpio de lino, 60 y lo puso en su sepulcro nuevo que él había excavado en la roca, y después de rodar una piedra grande(BR) a la entrada del sepulcro, se fue. 61 Y María Magdalena estaba allí, y la otra María(BS), sentadas frente al sepulcro.

Guardias en la tumba

62 Al día siguiente, que es el día después de la preparación[u](BT), se reunieron ante Pilato los principales sacerdotes y los fariseos, 63 y le dijeron[v]: Señor, nos acordamos que cuando aquel engañador aún vivía, dijo: «Después de tres días resucitaré[w](BU)». 64 Por eso, ordena que el sepulcro quede asegurado hasta el tercer día, no sea que vengan sus discípulos, se lo roben, y digan al pueblo: «Ha resucitado de entre los muertos»; y el último engaño será peor que el primero. 65 Pilato les dijo: Una guardia(BV) tenéis; id, aseguradla como vosotros sabéis. 66 Y fueron y aseguraron el sepulcro; y además de poner la guardia(BW), sellaron(BX) la piedra(BY).

Judas Hangs Himself

27 Early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people made their plans how to have Jesus executed.(A) 2 So they bound him, led him away and handed him over(B) to Pilate the governor.(C)

3 When Judas, who had betrayed him,(D) saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver(E) to the chief priests and the elders. 4 “I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed innocent blood.”

“What is that to us?” they replied. “That’s your responsibility.”(F)

5 So Judas threw the money into the temple(G) and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.(H)

6 The chief priests picked up the coins and said, “It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.” 7 So they decided to use the money to buy the potter’s field as a burial place for foreigners. 8 That is why it has been called the Field of Blood(I) to this day. 9 Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled:(J) “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price set on him by the people of Israel, 10 and they used them to buy the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.”[a](K)

Jesus Before Pilate(L)

11 Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”(M)

“You have said so,” Jesus replied.

12 When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer.(N) 13 Then Pilate asked him, “Don’t you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?”(O) 14 But Jesus made no reply,(P) not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor.

15 Now it was the governor’s custom at the festival to release a prisoner(Q) chosen by the crowd. 16 At that time they had a well-known prisoner whose name was Jesus[b] Barabbas. 17 So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?”(R) 18 For he knew it was out of self-interest that they had handed Jesus over to him.

19 While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat,(S) his wife sent him this message: “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent(T) man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream(U) because of him.”

20 But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.(V)

21 “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” asked the governor.

“Barabbas,” they answered.

22 “What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?”(W) Pilate asked.

They all answered, “Crucify him!”

23 “Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate.

But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!”

24 When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar(X) was starting, he took water and washed his hands(Y) in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,”(Z) he said. “It is your responsibility!”(AA)

25 All the people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children!”(AB)

26 Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged,(AC) and handed him over to be crucified.

The Soldiers Mock Jesus(AD)

27 Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium(AE) and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. 28 They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him,(AF) 29 and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said.(AG) 30 They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again.(AH) 31 After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.(AI)

The Crucifixion of Jesus(AJ)

32 As they were going out,(AK) they met a man from Cyrene,(AL) named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross.(AM) 33 They came to a place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”).(AN) 34 There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall;(AO) but after tasting it, he refused to drink it. 35 When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots.(AP) 36 And sitting down, they kept watch(AQ) over him there. 37 Above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is jesus, the king of the jews.

38 Two rebels were crucified with him,(AR) one on his right and one on his left. 39 Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads(AS) 40 and saying, “You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days,(AT) save yourself!(AU) Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!”(AV) 41 In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. 42 “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel!(AW) Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe(AX) in him. 43 He trusts in God. Let God rescue him(AY) now if he wants him, for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” 44 In the same way the rebels who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him.

The Death of Jesus(AZ)

45 From noon until three in the afternoon darkness(BA) came over all the land. 46 About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli,[c] lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).[d](BB)

47 When some of those standing there heard this, they said, “He’s calling Elijah.”

48 Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar,(BC) put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. 49 The rest said, “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to save him.”

50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.(BD)

51 At that moment the curtain of the temple(BE) was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split(BF) 52 and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and[e] went into the holy city(BG) and appeared to many people.

54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding(BH) Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”(BI)

55 Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs.(BJ) 56 Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph,[f] and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.(BK)

57 As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. 58 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. 59 Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 and placed it in his own new tomb(BM) that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away. 61 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb.

The Guard at the Tomb

62 The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. 63 “Sir,” they said, “we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’(BN) 64 So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body(BO) and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first.”

65 “Take a guard,”(BP) Pilate answered. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.” 66 So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal(BQ) on the stone(BR) and posting the guard.(BS)
