The Plot to Kill Jesus
26 [a](A)Now it happened that when Jesus had finished all these words, He said to His disciples, 2 “(B)You know that after two days (C)the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man is to be (D)delivered over for crucifixion.”
3 (E)Then the chief priests and the elders of the people were gathered together in (F)the court of the high priest, named (G)Caiaphas; 4 and they (H)plotted together to seize Jesus by stealth and kill Him. 5 But they were saying, “Not during the festival, (I)lest a riot occur among the people.”
The Costly Perfume
6 (J)Now when Jesus was in (K)Bethany, at the home of Simon the leper, 7 (L)a woman came to Him with an alabaster jar of very costly perfume, and she poured it on His head as He reclined at the table. 8 But when the disciples saw this, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste? 9 For this perfume might have been sold for a high price and the money given to the poor.” 10 But Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why do you bother the woman? For she has done a good work to Me. 11 For you always have (M)the poor with you; but you do not always have Me. 12 For when she poured this perfume on My body, she did it (N)to prepare Me for burial. 13 Truly I say to you, (O)wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of in memory of her.”
Judas Looks to Betray Jesus
14 (P)Then one of the twelve, named (Q)Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests 15 and said, “What are you willing to give me [b]to (R)deliver Him to you?” And (S)they weighed out [c]thirty pieces of silver to him. 16 And from then on he began looking for a good opportunity to [d]betray [e]Jesus.
The Passover Meal
17 (T)Now on the first day of (U)Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?” 18 And He said, “Go into the city to (V)a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “(W)My time is near; I am keeping the Passover at your house with My disciples.”’” 19 And the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.
20 (X)Now when evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the twelve disciples. 21 And as they were eating, He said, “(Y)Truly I say to you that one of you will betray Me.” 22 And being deeply grieved, they [f]each one began to say to Him, “Surely not I, Lord?” 23 And He answered and said, “(Z)He who dipped his hand with Me in the bowl is the one who will betray Me. 24 The Son of Man is going, (AA)just as it is written of Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! (AB)It would have been good [g]for that man if he had not been born.” 25 And (AC)Judas, who was betraying Him, answered and said, “Surely not I, (AD)Rabbi?” Jesus *said to him, “(AE)You yourself said it.”
The Lord’s Supper
26 (AF)Now while they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and [h](AG)after a blessing, He broke it. And giving it to the disciples, He said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” 27 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; 28 for (AH)this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for (AI)many for forgiveness of sins. 29 But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
30 (AJ)And after singing a hymn, they went out to (AK)the Mount of Olives.
31 Then Jesus *said to them, “You will all [i](AL)fall away because of Me this night, for it is written, ‘(AM)I will strike down the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be (AN)scattered.’ 32 But after I have been raised, (AO)I will go ahead of you to Galilee.” 33 But Peter answered and said to Him, “Even though all may [j]fall away because of You, I will never fall away.” 34 Jesus said to him, “(AP)Truly I say to you that (AQ)this very night, before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” 35 Peter *said to Him, “(AR)Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You.” All the disciples said the same thing too.
Jesus Prays in Gethsemane
36 (AS)Then Jesus *came with them to a place called (AT)Gethsemane, and *said to His disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 And He took with Him (AU)Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be grieved and distressed. 38 Then He *said to them, “(AV)My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and (AW)keep watch with Me.”
39 And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let (AX)this cup pass from Me; (AY)yet not as I will, but as You will.” 40 And He *came to the disciples and *found them sleeping, and *said to Peter, “So, you men could not (AZ)keep watch with Me for one hour? 41 (BA)Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; (BB)the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this (BC)cannot pass away unless I drink it, (BD)Your will be done.” 43 And again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. 44 And He left them again, and went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more. 45 Then He *came to the disciples and *said to them, “[k]Are you still sleeping and resting? Behold, (BE)the hour is at hand and the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Get up, let us go; behold, the one who betrays Me is at hand!”
The Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus
47 (BF)And while He was still speaking, behold, (BG)Judas, one of the twelve, came up, and with him was a large crowd with swords and clubs, who came from the chief priests and elders of the people. 48 Now he who was betraying Him gave them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the one; seize Him.” 49 And immediately Judas went to Jesus and said, “Greetings, (BH)Rabbi!” and kissed Him. 50 And Jesus said to him, “(BI)Friend, do what you have come for.” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and seized Him.
51 And behold, (BJ)one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew out his (BK)sword and struck the (BL)slave of the high priest and [l]cut off his ear. 52 Then Jesus *said to him, “Put your sword back into its place; for (BM)all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword. 53 Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve [m](BN)legions of (BO)angels? 54 Therefore, how will (BP)the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must happen this way?”
55 At that time Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as you would against a robber? (BQ)Every day I used to sit in the temple teaching and you did not seize Me. 56 But all this has taken place in order that (BR)the Scriptures of the prophets would be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left Him and fled.
Jesus Before Caiaphas
57 (BS)Now those who had seized Jesus led Him away to (BT)Caiaphas, the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together. 58 But (BU)Peter was following Him at a distance as far as the (BV)courtyard of the high priest, and entered in, and sat down with the [n](BW)officers to see the outcome.
59 Now the chief priests and the whole (BX)Sanhedrin kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death. 60 And they did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. But later on (BY)two came forward, 61 and said, “This man stated, ‘(BZ)I am able to destroy the [o]sanctuary of God and to rebuild it [p]in three days.’” 62 And the high priest stood up and said to Him, “Do You not answer? What are these men testifying against You?” 63 But (CA)Jesus kept silent. (CB)And the high priest said to Him, “(CC)I put You under oath by (CD)the living God, that You tell us whether You are the [q]Christ, (CE)the Son of God.” 64 Jesus *said to him, “(CF)You yourself said it; nevertheless I tell you, [r]hereafter you will see (CG)the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and (CH)coming on the clouds of heaven.”
65 Then the high priest (CI)tore his garments and said, “He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? Behold, you have now heard the blasphemy; 66 what do you think?” They answered and said, “(CJ)He deserves death!”
67 (CK)Then they (CL)spat in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others [s]slapped Him, 68 and said, “(CM)Prophesy to us, O [t]Christ; who is the one who hit You?”
Peter’s Denials
69 (CN)Now Peter was sitting outside in the (CO)courtyard, and a servant-girl came to him and said, “You too were with Jesus the Galilean.” 70 But he denied it before them all, saying, “I do not know what you are talking about.” 71 And when he had gone out to the gateway, another servant-girl saw him and *said to those who were there, “This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.” 72 And again he denied it with an oath, “I do not know the man.” 73 A little later the bystanders came up and said to Peter, “Surely you too are one of them; (CP)for even the way you talk [u]gives you away.” 74 Then he began to curse and swear, “I do not know the man!” And immediately a rooster crowed. 75 And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said, “(CQ)Before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.” And he went out and cried bitterly.

Complotto contro Gesù
26 Terminati tutti questi discorsi, Gesù disse ai suoi discepoli: 2 «Voi sapete che fra due giorni è Pasqua e che il Figlio dell'uomo sarà consegnato per essere crocifisso».
3 Allora i sommi sacerdoti e gli anziani del popolo si riunirono nel palazzo del sommo sacerdote, che si chiamava Caifa, 4 e tennero consiglio per arrestare con un inganno Gesù e farlo morire. 5 Ma dicevano: «Non durante la festa, perché non avvengano tumulti fra il popolo».
L'unzione a Betania
6 Mentre Gesù si trovava a Betània, in casa di Simone il lebbroso, 7 gli si avvicinò una donna con un vaso di alabastro di olio profumato molto prezioso, e glielo versò sul capo mentre stava a mensa. 8 I discepoli vedendo ciò si sdegnarono e dissero: «Perché questo spreco? 9 Lo si poteva vendere a caro prezzo per darlo ai poveri!». 10 Ma Gesù, accortosene, disse loro: «Perché infastidite questa donna? Essa ha compiuto un'azione buona verso di me. 11 I poveri infatti li avete sempre con voi, me, invece, non sempre mi avete. 12 Versando questo olio sul mio corpo, lo ha fatto in vista della mia sepoltura. 13 In verità vi dico: dovunque sarà predicato questo vangelo, nel mondo intero, sarà detto anche ciò che essa ha fatto, in ricordo di lei».
Il tradimento di Giuda
14 Allora uno dei Dodici, chiamato Giuda Iscariota, andò dai sommi sacerdoti 15 e disse: «Quanto mi volete dare perché io ve lo consegni?». E quelli gli fissarono trenta monete d'argento. 16 Da quel momento cercava l'occasione propizia per consegnarlo.
Preparativi del pasto pasquale
17 Il primo giorno degli Azzimi, i discepoli si avvicinarono a Gesù e gli dissero: «Dove vuoi che ti prepariamo, per mangiare la Pasqua?». 18 Ed egli rispose: «Andate in città, da un tale, e ditegli: Il Maestro ti manda a dire: Il mio tempo è vicino; farò la Pasqua da te con i miei discepoli». 19 I discepoli fecero come aveva loro ordinato Gesù, e prepararono la Pasqua.
Annunzio del tradimento di Giuda
20 Venuta la sera, si mise a mensa con i Dodici. 21 Mentre mangiavano disse: «In verità io vi dico, uno di voi mi tradirà». 22 Ed essi, addolorati profondamente, incominciarono ciascuno a domandargli: «Sono forse io, Signore?». 23 Ed egli rispose: «Colui che ha intinto con me la mano nel piatto, quello mi tradirà. 24 Il Figlio dell'uomo se ne va, come è scritto di lui, ma guai a colui dal quale il Figlio dell'uomo viene tradito; sarebbe meglio per quell'uomo se non fosse mai nato!». 25 Giuda, il traditore, disse: «Rabbì, sono forse io?». Gli rispose: «Tu l'hai detto».
Istituzione dell'Eucaristia
26 Ora, mentre essi mangiavano, Gesù prese il pane e, pronunziata la benedizione, lo spezzò e lo diede ai discepoli dicendo: «Prendete e mangiate; questo è il mio corpo». 27 Poi prese il calice e, dopo aver reso grazie, lo diede loro, dicendo: «Bevetene tutti, 28 perché questo è il mio sangue dell'alleanza, versato per molti, in remissione dei peccati. 29 Io vi dico che da ora non berrò più di questo frutto della vite fino al giorno in cui lo berrò nuovo con voi nel regno del Padre mio».
Predizione del rinnegamento di Pietro
30 E dopo aver cantato l'inno, uscirono verso il monte degli Ulivi. 31 Allora Gesù disse loro: «Voi tutti vi scandalizzerete per causa mia in questa notte. Sta scritto infatti:
Percuoterò il pastore
e saranno disperse le pecore del gregge,
32 ma dopo la mia risurrezione, vi precederò in Galilea». 33 E Pietro gli disse: «Anche se tutti si scandalizzassero di te, io non mi scandalizzerò mai». 34 Gli disse Gesù: «In verità ti dico: questa notte stessa, prima che il gallo canti, mi rinnegherai tre volte». 35 E Pietro gli rispose: «Anche se dovessi morire con te, non ti rinnegherò». Lo stesso dissero tutti gli altri discepoli.
Al Getsemani
36 Allora Gesù andò con loro in un podere, chiamato Getsèmani, e disse ai discepoli: «Sedetevi qui, mentre io vado là a pregare». 37 E presi con sé Pietro e i due figli di Zebedèo, cominciò a provare tristezza e angoscia. 38 Disse loro: «La mia anima è triste fino alla morte; restate qui e vegliate con me». 39 E avanzatosi un poco, si prostrò con la faccia a terra e pregava dicendo: «Padre mio, se è possibile, passi da me questo calice! Però non come voglio io, ma come vuoi tu!». 40 Poi tornò dai discepoli e li trovò che dormivano. E disse a Pietro: «Così non siete stati capaci di vegliare un'ora sola con me? 41 Vegliate e pregate, per non cadere in tentazione. Lo spirito è pronto, ma la carne è debole». 42 E di nuovo, allontanatosi, pregava dicendo: «Padre mio, se questo calice non può passare da me senza che io lo beva, sia fatta la tua volontà». 43 E tornato di nuovo trovò i suoi che dormivano, perché gli occhi loro si erano appesantiti. 44 E lasciatili, si allontanò di nuovo e pregò per la terza volta, ripetendo le stesse parole. 45 Poi si avvicinò ai discepoli e disse loro: «Dormite ormai e riposate! Ecco, è giunta l'ora nella quale il Figlio dell'uomo sarà consegnato in mano ai peccatori. 46 Alzatevi, andiamo; ecco, colui che mi tradisce si avvicina».
L'arresto di Gesù
47 Mentre parlava ancora, ecco arrivare Giuda, uno dei Dodici, e con lui una gran folla con spade e bastoni, mandata dai sommi sacerdoti e dagli anziani del popolo. 48 Il traditore aveva dato loro questo segnale dicendo: «Quello che bacerò, è lui; arrestatelo!». 49 E subito si avvicinò a Gesù e disse: «Salve, Rabbì!». E lo baciò. 50 E Gesù gli disse: «Amico, per questo sei qui!». Allora si fecero avanti e misero le mani addosso a Gesù e lo arrestarono. 51 Ed ecco, uno di quelli che erano con Gesù, messa mano alla spada, la estrasse e colpì il servo del sommo sacerdote staccandogli un orecchio.
52 Allora Gesù gli disse: «Rimetti la spada nel fodero, perché tutti quelli che mettono mano alla spada periranno di spada. 53 Pensi forse che io non possa pregare il Padre mio, che mi darebbe subito più di dodici legioni di angeli? 54 Ma come allora si adempirebbero le Scritture, secondo le quali così deve avvenire?». 55 In quello stesso momento Gesù disse alla folla: «Siete usciti come contro un brigante, con spade e bastoni, per catturarmi. Ogni giorno stavo seduto nel tempio ad insegnare, e non mi avete arrestato. 56 Ma tutto questo è avvenuto perché si adempissero le Scritture dei profeti». Allora tutti i discepoli, abbandonatolo, fuggirono.
Gesù davanti al sinedrio
57 Or quelli che avevano arrestato Gesù, lo condussero dal sommo sacerdote Caifa, presso il quale gia si erano riuniti gli scribi e gli anziani. 58 Pietro intanto lo aveva seguito da lontano fino al palazzo del sommo sacerdote; ed entrato anche lui, si pose a sedere tra i servi, per vedere la conclusione.
59 I sommi sacerdoti e tutto il sinedrio cercavano qualche falsa testimonianza contro Gesù, per condannarlo a morte; 60 ma non riuscirono a trovarne alcuna, pur essendosi fatti avanti molti falsi testimoni. 61 Finalmente se ne presentarono due, che affermarono: «Costui ha dichiarato: Posso distruggere il tempio di Dio e ricostruirlo in tre giorni». 62 Alzatosi il sommo sacerdote gli disse: «Non rispondi nulla? Che cosa testimoniano costoro contro di te?». 63 Ma Gesù taceva. Allora il sommo sacerdote gli disse: «Ti scongiuro, per il Dio vivente, perché ci dica se tu sei il Cristo, il Figlio di Dio». 64 «Tu l'hai detto, gli rispose Gesù, anzi io vi dico:
d'ora innanzi vedrete il Figlio dell'uomo
seduto alla destra di Dio,
e venire sulle nubi del cielo».
65 Allora il sommo sacerdote si stracciò le vesti dicendo: «Ha bestemmiato! Perché abbiamo ancora bisogno di testimoni? Ecco, ora avete udito la bestemmia; 66 che ve ne pare?». E quelli risposero: «E' reo di morte!». 67 Allora gli sputarono in faccia e lo schiaffeggiarono; altri lo bastonavano, 68 dicendo: «Indovina, Cristo! Chi è che ti ha percosso?».
Rinnegamenti di Pietro
69 Pietro intanto se ne stava seduto fuori, nel cortile. Una serva gli si avvicinò e disse: «Anche tu eri con Gesù, il Galileo!». 70 Ed egli negò davanti a tutti: «Non capisco che cosa tu voglia dire». 71 Mentre usciva verso l'atrio, lo vide un'altra serva e disse ai presenti: «Costui era con Gesù, il Nazareno». 72 Ma egli negò di nuovo giurando: «Non conosco quell'uomo». 73 Dopo un poco, i presenti gli si accostarono e dissero a Pietro: «Certo anche tu sei di quelli; la tua parlata ti tradisce!». 74 Allora egli cominciò a imprecare e a giurare: «Non conosco quell'uomo!». E subito un gallo cantò. 75 E Pietro si ricordò delle parole dette da Gesù: «Prima che il gallo canti, mi rinnegherai tre volte». E uscito all'aperto, pianse amaramente.

Sfătuirea împotriva lui Isus
26 După ce a isprăvit Isus toate cuvântările acestea, a zis ucenicilor Săi: 2 „Ştiţi(A) că după două zile vor fi Paştele; şi Fiul omului va fi dat ca să fie răstignit!” 3 Atunci(B), preoţii cei mai de seamă, cărturarii şi bătrânii norodului s-au strâns în curtea marelui preot, care se numea Caiafa, 4 şi s-au sfătuit împreună cum să prindă pe Isus cu vicleşug şi să-L omoare. 5 Dar ziceau: „Nu în timpul Praznicului, ca să nu se facă tulburare în norod”.
Mirul turnat pe capul lui Isus
6 Când(C) era Isus în Betania(D), în casa lui Simon leprosul, 7 s-a apropiat de El o femeie cu un vas de alabastru cu mir foarte scump; şi, pe când sta El la masă, ea a turnat mirul pe capul Lui. 8 Ucenicilor(E) le-a fost necaz, când au văzut lucrul acesta, şi au zis: „Ce rost are risipa aceasta? 9 Mirul acesta s-ar fi putut vinde foarte scump, şi banii să se dea săracilor.” 10 Când a auzit Isus, le-a zis: „De ce faceţi supărare femeii? Ea a făcut un lucru frumos faţă de Mine. 11 Pentru că(F) pe săraci îi aveţi totdeauna cu voi, dar pe(G) Mine nu Mă aveţi totdeauna. 12 Dacă a turnat acest mir pe trupul Meu, ea a făcut lucrul acesta în vederea pregătirii Mele pentru îngropare. 13 Adevărat vă spun că, oriunde va fi propovăduită Evanghelia aceasta, în toată lumea, se va spune şi ce a făcut femeia aceasta, spre pomenirea ei.”
Vânzarea lui Isus
14 Atunci(H), unul din cei doisprezece, numit Iuda Iscarioteanul(I), s-a dus la preoţii cei mai de seamă 15 şi le-a zis: „Ce(J) vreţi să-mi daţi, şi-L voi da în mâinile voastre?” Ei i-au cântărit treizeci de arginţi. 16 Din clipa aceea, Iuda căuta un prilej nimerit, ca să dea pe Isus în mâinile lor.
Descoperirea vânzătorului
17 În(K) ziua dintâi a Praznicului Azimilor, ucenicii au venit la Isus şi I-au zis: „Unde vrei să-Ţi pregătim să mănânci Paştele?” 18 El le-a răspuns: „Duceţi-vă în cetate la cutare om şi spuneţi-i: ‘Învăţătorul zice: «Vremea Mea este aproape; voi face Paştele cu ucenicii Mei în casa ta».’ ” 19 Ucenicii au făcut cum le poruncise Isus şi au pregătit Paştele. 20 Seara(L), Isus a şezut la masă cu cei doisprezece ucenici ai Săi. 21 Pe când mâncau, El a zis: „Adevărat vă spun că unul din voi Mă va vinde”. 22 Ei s-au întristat foarte mult şi au început să-I zică unul după altul: „Nu cumva sunt eu, Doamne?” 23 Drept răspuns, El le-a zis: „Cel(M) ce a întins cu Mine mâna în blid, acela Mă va vinde. 24 Negreşit, Fiul omului Se duce după cum(N) este scris despre El. Dar vai(O) de omul acela prin care este vândut Fiul omului! Mai bine ar fi fost pentru el să nu se fi născut!” 25 Iuda, vânzătorul, a luat cuvântul şi I-a zis: „Nu cumva sunt eu, Învăţătorule?” „Da”, i-a răspuns Isus, „tu eşti!”
Cina cea de taină
26 Pe când(P) mâncau ei, Isus a(Q) luat o pâine şi, după ce a binecuvântat, a frânt-o şi a dat-o ucenicilor, zicând: „Luaţi, mâncaţi; acesta(R) este trupul Meu”. 27 Apoi a luat un pahar, şi, după ce a mulţumit lui Dumnezeu, li l-a dat, zicând: „Beţi(S) toţi din el, 28 căci acesta(T) este sângele Meu, sângele legământului celui(U) nou, care se varsă pentru(V) mulţi, spre iertarea păcatelor. 29 Vă spun(W) că, de acum încolo, nu voi mai bea din acest rod al viţei, până(X) în ziua când îl voi bea cu voi nou în Împărăţia Tatălui Meu.”
Isus înştiinţează pe ucenicii Săi
30 După ce(Y) au cântat cântarea, au ieşit în Muntele Măslinilor. 31 Atunci, Isus le-a zis: „În noaptea aceasta, toţi(Z) veţi(AA) găsi în Mine o pricină de poticnire, căci este scris: ‘Voi bate(AB) Păstorul, şi oile turmei vor fi risipite’. 32 Dar, după ce voi învia, voi(AC) merge înaintea voastră în Galileea.” 33 Petru a luat cuvântul şi I-a zis: „Chiar dacă toţi ar găsi în Tine o pricină de poticnire, eu niciodată nu voi găsi în Tine o pricină de poticnire”. 34 „Adevărat(AD) îţi spun”, i-a zis Isus, „că tu, chiar în noaptea aceasta, înainte ca să cânte cocoşul, te vei lepăda de Mine de trei ori”. 35 Petru I-a răspuns: „Chiar dacă ar trebui să mor cu Tine, tot nu mă voi lepăda de Tine”. Şi toţi ucenicii au spus acelaşi lucru.
Ghetsimani
36 Atunci(AE), Isus a venit cu ei într-un loc îngrădit, numit Ghetsimani, şi a zis ucenicilor: „Şedeţi aici până Mă voi duce acolo să Mă rog”. 37 A luat cu El pe Petru şi pe(AF) cei doi fii ai lui Zebedei şi a început să Se întristeze şi să Se mâhnească foarte tare. 38 Isus le-a zis atunci: „Sufletul Meu este cuprins de o întristare(AG) de moarte; rămâneţi aici şi vegheaţi împreună cu Mine”. 39 Apoi a mers puţin mai înainte, a căzut cu faţa la pământ şi S-a rugat(AH), zicând: „Tată(AI), dacă este cu putinţă, depărtează(AJ) de la Mine paharul acesta! Totuşi nu(AK) cum voiesc Eu, ci cum voieşti Tu.” 40 Apoi a venit la ucenici, i-a găsit dormind şi a zis lui Petru: „Ce, un ceas n-aţi putut să vegheaţi împreună cu Mine! 41 Vegheaţi(AL) şi rugaţi-vă, ca să nu cădeţi în ispită; duhul, în adevăr, este plin de râvnă, dar carnea este neputincioasă.” 42 S-a depărtat a doua oară şi S-a rugat, zicând: „Tată, dacă nu se poate să se îndepărteze de Mine paharul acesta fără să-l beau, facă-se voia Ta!” 43 S-a întors iarăşi la ucenici şi i-a găsit dormind; pentru că li se îngreunaseră ochii de somn. 44 I-a lăsat din nou, S-a depărtat şi S-a rugat a treia oară, zicând aceleaşi cuvinte. 45 Apoi a venit la ucenici şi le-a zis: „Dormiţi de acum şi odihniţi-vă! …Iată că a venit ceasul ca Fiul omului să fie dat în mâinile păcătoşilor. 46 Sculaţi-vă, haidem să mergem; iată că se apropie vânzătorul.”
Prinderea lui Isus
47 Pe când(AM) vorbea El încă, iată că vine Iuda, unul din cei doisprezece, cu o gloată mare, cu săbii şi cu ciomege, trimişi de preoţii cei mai de seamă şi de bătrânii norodului. 48 Vânzătorul le dăduse semnul acesta: „Pe care-L voi săruta eu, Acela este; să puneţi mâna pe El!” 49 Îndată, Iuda s-a apropiat de Isus şi I-a zis: „Plecăciune, Învăţătorule!” Şi L-a(AN) sărutat. 50 Isus i-a zis: „Prietene(AO) , ce ai venit să faci, fă!” Atunci, oamenii aceia s-au apropiat, au pus mâinile pe Isus şi L-au prins. 51 Şi unul(AP) din cei ce erau cu Isus a întins mâna, a scos sabia, a lovit pe robul marelui preot şi i-a tăiat urechea. 52 Atunci, Isus i-a zis: „Pune-ţi sabia la locul ei, căci(AQ) toţi cei ce scot sabia de sabie vor pieri. 53 Crezi că n-aş putea să rog pe Tatăl Meu, care Mi-ar pune îndată la îndemână mai(AR) mult de douăsprezece legiuni de îngeri? 54 Dar cum se vor împlini Scripturile, care zic că(AS) aşa trebuie să se întâmple?” 55 În clipa aceea, Isus a zis gloatelor: „Aţi ieşit ca după un tâlhar, cu săbii şi cu ciomege, ca să Mă prindeţi. În toate zilele şedeam în mijlocul vostru şi învăţam norodul în Templu, şi n-aţi pus mâna pe Mine. 56 Dar toate aceste lucruri s-au întâmplat ca să se împlinească cele scrise(AT) prin proroci.” Atunci(AU), toţi ucenicii L-au părăsit şi au fugit.
Isus înaintea Sinedriului
57 Cei ce(AV) au prins pe Isus L-au dus la marele preot Caiafa, unde erau adunaţi cărturarii şi bătrânii. 58 Petru L-a urmat de departe, până la curtea marelui preot, apoi a intrat înăuntru şi a şezut jos cu aprozii, ca să vadă sfârşitul. 59 Preoţii cei mai de seamă, bătrânii şi tot soborul căutau vreo mărturie mincinoasă împotriva lui Isus, ca să-L poată omorî. 60 Dar n-au găsit niciuna, măcar că s-au înfăţişat mulţi(AW) martori mincinoşi. La urmă au venit doi(AX) 61 şi au spus: „Acesta a zis: ‘Eu pot(AY) să stric Templul lui Dumnezeu şi să-l zidesc iarăşi în trei zile’.” 62 Marele preot s-a sculat(AZ) în picioare şi I-a zis: „Nu răspunzi nimic? Ce mărturisesc aceştia împotriva Ta?” 63 Isus(BA) tăcea. Şi marele preot a luat cuvântul şi I-a zis: „Te(BB) jur, pe Dumnezeul cel viu, să ne spui dacă eşti Hristosul, Fiul lui Dumnezeu”. 64 „Da”, i-a răspuns Isus, „sunt! Ba mai mult, vă spun că de(BC) acum încolo veţi vedea pe Fiul omului şezând(BD) la dreapta puterii lui Dumnezeu şi venind pe norii cerului.” 65 Atunci(BE), marele preot şi-a rupt hainele şi a zis: „A hulit! Ce nevoie mai avem de martori? Iată că acum aţi auzit hula Lui. 66 Ce credeţi?” Ei au răspuns: „Este vinovat(BF), să fie pedepsit cu moartea”. 67 Atunci(BG), L-au scuipat în faţă, L-au bătut cu pumnii şi L-au(BH) pălmuit, 68 zicând: „Hristoase, proroceşte-ne(BI) cine Te-a lovit?”
Tăgăduirea lui Petru
69 Petru(BJ) însă şedea afară în curte. O slujnică a venit la el şi i-a zis: „Şi tu erai cu Isus Galileeanul!” 70 Dar el s-a lepădat înaintea tuturor şi i-a zis: „Nu ştiu ce vrei să zici”. 71 Când a ieşit în pridvor, l-a văzut o altă slujnică şi a zis celor de acolo: „Şi acesta era cu Isus din Nazaret”. 72 El s-a lepădat iarăşi, cu un jurământ, şi a zis: „Nu cunosc pe Omul acesta!” 73 Peste puţin, cei ce stăteau acolo, s-au apropiat şi au zis lui Petru: „Nu mai încape îndoială că şi tu eşti unul din oamenii aceia, căci şi vorba(BK) te dă de gol”. 74 Atunci, el(BL) a început să se blesteme şi să se jure, zicând: „Nu cunosc pe Omul acesta!” În clipa aceea a cântat cocoşul. 75 Şi Petru şi-a adus aminte de vorba pe care i-o spusese Isus: „Înainte(BM) ca să cânte cocoşul, te vei lepăda de Mine de trei ori”. Şi a ieşit afară şi a plâns cu amar.
