⁶³ But Jesus remained silent.^(A)

The high priest said to him, “I charge you under oath^(B) by the living God:^(C) Tell us if you are the Messiah,^(D) the Son of God.”^(E)

¹⁶ Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”^(A)

5 “‘If anyone sins because they do not speak up when they hear a public charge to testify^(A) regarding something they have seen or learned about, they will be held responsible.^(B)

¹² When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer.^(A)

²⁴ The Jews^(A) who were there gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”^(B)

¹⁴ But Jesus made no reply,^(A) not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor.

²⁶ When they went into the woods, they saw the honey oozing out; yet no one put his hand to his mouth, because they feared the oath.

²³ When they hurled their insults at him,^(A) he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats.^(B) Instead, he entrusted himself^(C) to him who judges justly.^(D)
