17 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, and James, and John his brother, and doth bring them up to a high mount by themselves,
2 and he was transfigured before them, and his face shone as the sun, and his garments did become white as the light,
3 and lo, appear to them did Moses and Elijah, talking together with him.
4 And Peter answering said to Jesus, `Sir, it is good to us to be here; if thou wilt, we may make here three booths -- for thee one, and for Moses one, and one for Elijah.'
5 While he is yet speaking, lo, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and lo, a voice out of the cloud, saying, `This is My Son, -- the Beloved, in whom I did delight; hear him.'
6 And the disciples having heard, did fall upon their face, and were exceedingly afraid,
7 and Jesus having come near, touched them, and said, `Rise, be not afraid,'
8 and having lifted up their eyes, they saw no one, except Jesus only.
9 And as they are coming down from the mount, Jesus charged them, saying, `Say to no one the vision, till the Son of Man out of the dead may rise.'
10 And his disciples questioned him, saying, `Why then do the scribes say that Elijah it behoveth to come first?'
11 And Jesus answering said to them, `Elijah doth indeed come first, and shall restore all things,
12 and I say to you -- Elijah did already come, and they did not know him, but did with him whatever they would, so also the Son of Man is about to suffer by them.'
13 Then understood the disciples that concerning John the Baptist he spake to them.
14 And when they came unto the multitude, there came to him a man, kneeling down to him,
15 and saying, `Sir, deal kindly with my son, for he is lunatic, and doth suffer miserably, for often he doth fall into the fire, and often into the water,
16 and I brought him near to thy disciples, and they were not able to heal him.'
17 And Jesus answering said, `O generation, unstedfast and perverse, till when shall I be with you? till when shall I bear you? bring him to me hither;'
18 and Jesus rebuked him, and the demon went out of him, and the lad was healed from that hour.
19 Then the disciples having come to Jesus by himself, said, `Wherefore were we not able to cast him out?'
20 And Jesus said to them, `Through your want of faith; for verily I say to you, if ye may have faith as a grain of mustard, ye shall say to this mount, Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove, and nothing shall be impossible to you,
21 and this kind doth not go forth except in prayer and fasting.'
22 And while they are living in Galilee, Jesus said to them, `The Son of Man is about to be delivered up to the hands of men,
23 and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall rise,' and they were exceeding sorry.
24 And they having come to Capernaum, those receiving the didrachms came near to Peter, and said, `Your teacher -- doth he not pay the didrachms?' He saith, `Yes.'
25 And when he came into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, `What thinkest thou, Simon? the kings of the earth -- from whom do they receive custom or poll-tax? from their sons or from the strangers?'
26 Peter saith to him, `From the strangers.' Jesus said to him, `Then are the sons free;
27 but, that we may not cause them to stumble, having gone to the sea, cast a hook, and the fish that hath come up first take thou up, and having opened its mouth, thou shalt find a stater, that having taken, give to them for me and thee.'

Jesus Transfigured on the Mount(A)
17 Now (B)after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; 2 and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. 4 Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, [a]let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
5 (C)While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, (D)“This is My beloved Son, (E)in whom I am well pleased. (F)Hear Him!” 6 (G)And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. 7 But Jesus came and (H)touched them and said, “Arise, and do not be afraid.” 8 When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.
9 Now as they came down from the mountain, Jesus commanded them, saying, “Tell the vision to no one until the Son of Man is risen from the dead.”
10 And His disciples asked Him, saying, (I)“Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”
11 Jesus answered and said to them, “Indeed, Elijah is coming [b]first and will (J)restore all things. 12 (K)But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they (L)did not know him but did to him whatever they wished. Likewise (M)the Son of Man is also about to suffer at their hands.” 13 (N)Then the disciples understood that He spoke to them of John the Baptist.
A Boy Is Healed(O)
14 (P)And when they had come to the multitude, a man came to Him, kneeling down to Him and saying, 15 “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is [c]an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16 So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.”
17 Then Jesus answered and said, “O [d]faithless and (Q)perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” 18 And Jesus (R)rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”
20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your [e]unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, (S)if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 [f]However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
Jesus Again Predicts His Death and Resurrection(T)
22 (U)Now while they were [g]staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men, 23 and they will kill Him, and the third day He will be raised up.” And they were exceedingly (V)sorrowful.
Peter and His Master Pay Their Taxes
24 (W)When they had come to [h]Capernaum, those who received the [i]temple tax came to Peter and said, “Does your Teacher not pay the temple tax?”
25 He said, “Yes.”
And when he had come into the house, Jesus anticipated him, saying, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs or taxes, from their sons or from (X)strangers?”
26 Peter said to Him, “From strangers.”
Jesus said to him, “Then the sons are free. 27 Nevertheless, lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a [j]piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you.”

17 Pagkaraan ng anim na araw, isinama ni Jesus sina Pedro at ang magkapatid na Santiago at Juan sa isang mataas na bundok ng sila-sila lang. 2 At habang nakatingin sila kay Jesus, nagbago ang kanyang anyo. Nagliwanag na parang araw ang kanyang mukha, at ang damit niyaʼy naging puting-puti na parang liwanag. 3 Bigla nilang nakita sina Moises at Elias na nakikipag-usap kay Jesus. 4 Sinabi ni Pedro kay Jesus, “Panginoon, mabutiʼt narito kami.[a] Kung gusto nʼyo po, gagawa ako ng tatlong kubol: isa para sa inyo, isa para kay Moises at isa para kay Elias.” 5 Habang nagsasalita pa si Pedro, nabalot sila ng nakakasilaw na ulap. Kaya lang hindi siya nakilala ng mga tao at ginawa nila ang gusto nilang gawin sa kanya. Ganyan din ang gagawin nila sa akin na Anak ng Tao. Hanggang kailan ba ako magtitiis sa inyo? Dalhin nʼyo rito ang bata!” 18 Sinaway ni Jesus ang masamang espiritu at lumabas ito sa bata. At gumaling ang bata noon din.
19 Nang sila-sila na lang, lumapit kay Jesus ang mga tagasunod niya at nagtanong, “Bakit hindi po namin mapalayas ang masamang espiritu?” 20 Sumagot si Jesus, “Dahil mahina ang pananampalataya ninyo. Sinasabi ko sa inyo ang totoo, kung may pananampalataya kayo na kahit kasinlaki lang ng buto ng mustasa, masasabi ninyo sa bundok na ito, ‘Lumipat ka roon!’ at lilipat nga ito. Nang makabalik si Pedro sa tinutuluyan nila, tinanong siya ni Jesus, “Ano sa palagay mo, Pedro? Kanino nangongolekta ng mga buwis ang mga hari, sa mga anak nila o sa ibang tao?” 26 Sumagot si Pedro, “Sa ibang tao po.” Sinabi ni Jesus, “Kung ganoon, nangangahulugan na hindi kailangang magbayad ng buwis ang mga anak.[b] 27 Pero kung hindi tayo magbabayad, baka sumama ang loob nila sa atin.[c] Kaya pumunta ka sa lawa at mamingwit. Ibuka mo ang bibig ng unang isdang mahuhuli mo at makikita mo roon ang perang sapat na pambayad sa buwis nating dalawa. Kunin mo ito at ibayad sa mga nangongolekta ng buwis para sa templo.”

17 Seks dage senere tog Jesus Peter, Jakob og Johannes (Jakobs bror) med op på et højt bjerg, hvor de var helt alene. 2 Pludselig skiftede Jesus udseende for øjnene af de tre disciple. Hans ansigt strålede som solen, og hans klæder blev blændende hvide. 3 Derefter så disciplene Moses og Elias komme til syne og tale med Jesus. 4 „Herre, hvor er det skønt at være her,” udbrød Peter. „Hvis du synes, så vil jeg bygge tre hytter: en til dig, en til Moses og en til Elias.”

11 Jesus svarede: „Det er rigtigt, at Elias skulle komme og genoprette alt.[a] 12 Men ‚Elias’ har allerede været her. Folk forstod bare ikke, at det var ham. Derfor gjorde de med ham, hvad de ville, og det samme vil de gøre med Menneskesønnen.”

14 Der stod en vældig menneskemængde og ventede på dem, da de kom ned fra bjerget. Straks kom en mand hen og faldt på knæ for Jesus. 15 „Herre, vær barmhjertig mod min søn,” bad han. „Han er månesyg,[b] og lider ganske forfærdeligt. Ofte falder han i ilden eller i vandet, når han får sine anfald. 16 Derfor bragte jeg ham til dine disciple, men de kunne ikke helbrede ham.”
17 „Åh, I forvildede og vantro mennesker,” udbrød Jesus. „Hvor længe skal jeg blive hos jer? Hvor længe skal jeg bære over med jer? Kom herhen med drengen.” 18 Så befalede Jesus dæmonen, som var i drengen, at komme ud, og den forlod ham. Fra det øjeblik var drengen rask.
19 Da disciplene kort efter var alene med Jesus, spurgte de ham: „Hvorfor kunne vi ikke drive den dæmon ud?”
20 „På grund af manglende tro,” svarede Jesus. „For det siger jeg jer: Hvis I bare havde tro som et sennepskorn, ville I kunne sige til sådan et ‚bjerg’: ‚Flyt dig!’ og det ville flytte sig. Der ville ikke være den ting, som ville være umuligt for jer. 21 Men den slags farer kun ud ved bøn og faste.”[c]
Jesus taler igen om sin død og opstandelse(D)
22-23 Da de igen var samlet i Galilæa, sagde Jesus en dag til disciplene: „Menneskesønnen skal overgives i menneskers vold og blive dræbt. Men på den tredje dag bliver jeg oprejst fra de døde.” Hans disciple blev dybt bedrøvede ved at høre det.
Om at betale skat til templet
24 Da Jesus og disciplene var kommet hjem til Kapernaum, henvendte de, der opkrævede tempelskatten, sig til Peter. „Betaler jeres mester ikke den årlige tempelskat?” spurgte de.
25 „Jo, selvfølgelig!” svarede Peter.
Så gik han ind i huset for at tale med Jesus om det. Men før han fik sagt noget, spurgte Jesus: „Sig mig, Peter: Hvem plejer jordens konger at opkræve told og skat af, deres egne børn eller andre folk?”
26 „Af de andre!” svarede Peter. „Godt,” sagde Jesus, „så er deres egne børn altså fritaget. 27 Men for ikke at forarge nogen, så lad os alligevel betale. Gå ned til søen og kast snøren ud. I munden på den første fisk, du fanger, vil du finde en mønt. Giv den som betaling for mig og dig.”
