¹⁵ Truly I say to you, ^(A)it will be more tolerable for the land of ^(B)Sodom and Gomorrah in ^(C)the day of judgment than for that city.

^8 (A)who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in ^(B)the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁷ and to give relief to you who are afflicted ^[a]and to us as well ^[b](A)when the Lord Jesus will be revealed ^(B)from heaven ^(C)with ^[c]His mighty angels ^(D)in flaming fire, ⁸ dealing out retribution to those who ^(E)do not know God and to those who ^(F)do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. ⁹ These will pay the penalty of ^(G)eternal destruction, ^(H)away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, ¹⁰ when He comes to be ^(I)glorified ^[d]in His ^[e]saints on that ^(J)day, and to be marveled at among all who have believed—for our ^(K)testimony to you was believed.

¹² For this reason I also suffer these things, but ^(A)I am not ashamed; for I know ^(B)whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to ^(C)guard what I have entrusted to Him ^[a]until ^(D)that day.

¹⁸ the Lord grant to him to find mercy from the Lord on ^(A)that day—and you know very well what services he rendered at ^(B)Ephesus.

⁸ in the future there ^(A)is laid up for me ^(B)the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on ^(C)that day; and not only to me, but also to ^(D)all who have loved His ^(E)appearing.
