⁶ He is not here; for He is risen, ^(A)as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

^6 (A)But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.

^40 (A)For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

⁶ He is not here, but is risen! ^(A)Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, ⁷ saying, ‘The Son of Man must be ^(B)delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’ ”

⁸ And ^(C)they remembered His words.

Jesus Predicts His Death and Resurrection^(A)

²¹ From that time Jesus began ^(B)to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.

²³ When they did not find His body, they came saying that they had also seen a vision of angels who said He was alive.

⁴ So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first. ⁵ And he, stooping down and looking in, saw ^(A)the linen cloths lying there; yet he did not go in. ⁶ Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there, ⁷ and ^(B)the ^[a]handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded together in a place by itself. ⁸ Then the ^(C)other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed. ⁹ For as yet they did not ^[b]know the ^(D)Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.

⁴⁴ Then He said to them, ^(A)“These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.”

⁶³ saying, “Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said, ^(A)‘After three days I will rise.’

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, ^(A)“Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
