²⁹ and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and put a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they ^(A)mocked him, saying, “Hail, ^(B)King of the Jews!”

¹⁹ and ^(A)deliver him over to the Gentiles ^(B)to be mocked and flogged and ^(C)crucified, and he will be raised on ^(D)the third day.”

¹⁸ And they began to salute him, ^(A)“Hail, King of the Jews!”

² looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, ^(A)who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising ^(B)the shame, and ^(C)is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Do Not Grow Weary

^3 (D)Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or ^(E)fainthearted.

^2 (A)And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head and arrayed him in a purple robe. ³ They came up to him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” and struck him with their hands.

³⁶ The soldiers also mocked him, coming up and ^(A)offering him sour wine ³⁷ and saying, ^(B)“If you are ^(C)the King of the Jews, save yourself!”

³⁷ And over his head they put the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, ^(A)the King of the Jews.”

⁴⁹ And he came up to Jesus at once and said, “Greetings, ^(A)Rabbi!” And he kissed him.
