³⁹ And going a little farther he fell on his face ^(A)and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let ^(B)this cup pass from me; ^(C)nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”

³⁸ For ^(A)I have come down from heaven, not to do ^(B)my own will but ^(C)the will of him ^(D)who sent me.

⁸ And being found in human form, he humbled himself by ^(A)becoming obedient to the point of death, ^(B)even death on a cross.

⁴² Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, ^(A)your will be done.”

⁴¹ And he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and ^(A)knelt down and prayed, ⁴² saying, ^(B)“Father, if you are willing, remove ^(C)this cup from me. ^(D)Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

Witnesses to Jesus

^30 (A)“I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and ^(B)my judgment is just, because ^(C)I seek not my own will ^(D)but the will of him who sent me.

⁷ In the days of his flesh, ^(A)Jesus^[a] offered up prayers and supplications, ^(B)with loud cries and tears, to him ^(C)who was able to save him from death, and ^(D)he was heard because of his reverence.

³¹ but I do ^(A)as the Father has commanded me, ^(B)so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.

The Son of Man Must Be Lifted Up

^27 (A)“Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, ^(B)save me from ^(C)this hour’? But ^(D)for this purpose I have come to ^(E)this hour. ²⁸ Father, glorify your name.” Then ^(F)a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.”
