²⁶ While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it^(A) and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”

²³ For I received from the Lord^(A) what I also passed on to you:^(B) The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, ²⁴ and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body,^(C) which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” ²⁵ In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant^(D) in my blood;^(E) do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” ²⁶ For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.^(F)

²⁷ So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.^{(G) 28} Everyone ought to examine themselves^(H) before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. ²⁹ For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves.

¹⁸ For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”

¹⁹ And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it,^(A) and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

²⁰ In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant^(B) in my blood, which is poured out for you.^[a]

¹⁶ Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break^(A) a participation in the body of Christ?^{(B) 17} Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body,^(C) for we all share the one loaf.

³³ For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven^(A) and gives life to the world.”

³⁴ “Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.”^(B)

³⁵ Then Jesus declared, “I am^(C) the bread of life.^(D) Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes^(E) in me will never be thirsty.^(F)

Eutychus Raised From the Dead at Troas

⁷ On the first day of the week^(A) we came together to break bread.^(B) Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight.

⁴⁷ Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life.^{(A) 48} I am the bread of life.^{(B) 49} Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died.^{(C) 50} But here is the bread that comes down from heaven,^(D) which anyone may eat and not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread^(E) that came down from heaven.^(F) Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”^(G)

⁵² Then the Jews^(H) began to argue sharply among themselves,^(I) “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

⁵³ Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh^(J) of the Son of Man^(K) and drink his blood,^(L) you have no life in you. ⁵⁴ Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.^{(M) 55} For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. ⁵⁶ Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.^{(N) 57} Just as the living Father sent me^(O) and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. ⁵⁸ This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”^(P)

⁴ and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock^(A) that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.
