²² And they were very sorrowful and began to say to him one after another, “Is it I, Lord?”

^22 (A)The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of whom he spoke. ^23 (B)One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was reclining at table ^(C)at Jesus' side,^{[a] 24} so Simon Peter motioned to him to ask Jesus^[b] of whom he was speaking. ^25 (D)So that disciple, ^(E)leaning back against Jesus, said to him, “Lord, who is it?”

²³ And they began to question one another, which of them it could be who was going to do this.

¹⁹ They began to be sorrowful and to say to him one after another, “Is it I?” ²⁰ He said to them, “It is ^(A)one of the twelve, ^(B)one who is dipping bread into the dish with me.

¹⁷ He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him ^(A)the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, ^(B)you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed ^(C)my sheep.
