^37 (A)For as were the days of Noah, ^(B)so will be the coming of the Son of Man. ^38 (C)For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, ^(D)marrying and giving in marriage, until ^(E)the day when Noah entered the ark, ³⁹ and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, ^(F)so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

The Fall

3 Now ^(A)the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.

He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You^[a] shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”

^8 (A)Be sober-minded; ^(B)be watchful. Your ^(C)adversary the devil ^(D)prowls around ^(E)like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

¹⁴ Stand therefore, ^(A)having fastened on the belt of truth, and ^(B)having put on the breastplate of righteousness, ¹⁵ and, ^(C)as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. ¹⁶ In all circumstances take up ^(D)the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all ^(E)the flaming darts of ^(F)the evil one; ¹⁷ and take ^(G)the helmet of salvation, and ^(H)the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
