Come to Me, and I Will Give You Rest

^25 (A)At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, ^(B)Lord of heaven and earth, that ^(C)you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and ^(D)revealed them to little children;

^39 (A)And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” ⁴⁰ He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, ^(B)the very stones would cry out.”

²⁵ And he said to them, ^(A)“Have you never read ^(B)what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were with him:

⁴ He answered, ^(A)“Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female,

³ He said to them, ^(A)“Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him:

³¹ And as for the resurrection of the dead, ^(A)have you not read what was said to you by God:

¹⁶ saying, ^(A)“What shall we do with these men? For that ^(B)a notable sign has been performed through them is evident to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. ¹⁷ But in order that it may spread no further among the people, let us warn them ^(C)to speak no more to anyone in this name.” ¹⁸ So they called them and charged them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.

⁴⁷ So the chief priests and the Pharisees ^(A)gathered ^(B)the council and said, ^(C)“What are we to do? For this man performs many signs. ⁴⁸ If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and ^(D)the Romans will come and take away both our ^(E)place and our nation.”
