⁴ and to them he said, ‘You go into the vineyard too, and whatever is right I will give you.’

^2 (A)so as to live for ^(B)the rest of the time in the flesh ^(C)no longer for human passions but ^(D)for the will of God. ³ For the time that is past ^(E)suffices ^(F)for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry.

Called to Be Holy

¹³ Therefore, ^(A)preparing your minds for action,^[a] and ^(B)being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

⁸ The saying is ^(A)trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful ^(B)to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people.

Christ Jesus Came to Save Sinners

¹² I thank him ^(A)who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, ^(B)appointing me to his service, ¹³ though formerly I was a blasphemer, ^(C)persecutor, and insolent opponent. But ^(D)I received mercy ^(E)because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief,

4 Masters, treat your bondservants^[a] justly and fairly, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.

¹¹ And ^(A)such were some of you. But ^(B)you were washed, ^(C)you were sanctified, ^(D)you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

¹⁶ Do you not know that if you present yourselves ^(A)to anyone as obedient slaves,^[a] you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? ¹⁷ But ^(B)thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the ^(C)standard of teaching to which you were committed, ¹⁸ and, ^(D)having been set free from sin, ^(E)have become slaves of righteousness. ^19 (F)I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For ^(G)just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members ^(H)as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.

^20 (I)For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. ^21 (J)But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things ^(K)of which you are now ashamed? ^(L)For the end of those things is death. ²² But now that you ^(M)have been set free from sin and ^(N)have become slaves of God, ^(O)the fruit you get leads to sanctification and ^(P)its end, eternal life.

⁷ And when they saw it, they all ^(A)grumbled, “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” ⁸ And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the half of my goods ^(B)I give to the poor. And if I have ^(C)defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it ^(D)fourfold.” ⁹ And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since ^(E)he also is a son of Abraham. ¹⁰ For ^(F)the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
