¹⁷ Then Jesus answered and said, “O ^[a]faithless and ^(A)perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.”

Failure of the Wilderness Wanderers

^16 (A)For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? ¹⁷ Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, ^(B)whose corpses fell in the wilderness? ¹⁸ And ^(C)to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? ¹⁹ So we see that they could not enter in because of ^(D)unbelief.

Moses Intercedes for the People

¹¹ Then the Lord said to Moses: “How long will these people ^(A)reject^[a] Me? And how long will they not ^(B)believe Me, with all the ^[b]signs which I have performed among them?

¹⁸ Now ^(A)for a time of about forty years He put up with their ways in the wilderness.

The Great Commission^(A)

^14 (B)Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen.

¹⁹ He answered him and said, “O ^(A)faithless^[a] generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I ^[b]bear with you? Bring him to Me.”

⁵⁸ Now ^(A)He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

²⁶ But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then ^(A)He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

³⁰ Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

^27 (A)“How long shall I bear with this evil congregation who complain against Me? ^(B)I have heard the complaints which the children of Israel make against Me.
