^13 (A)Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”

^18 (A)Now it happened that as he was praying alone, the disciples were with him. And he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” ¹⁹ And they answered, ^(B)“John the Baptist. But others say, ^(C)Elijah, and others, that one of the prophets of old has risen.” ²⁰ Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” And Peter answered, ^(D)“The Christ of God.”

^27 (A)And Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” ²⁸ And they told him, ^(B)“John the Baptist; and others say, ^(C)Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.” ²⁹ And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, ^(D)“You are ^(E)the Christ.”

The Son of Man Is Given Dominion

¹³ “I saw in the night visions,

⁶ But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he then said to the paralytic—“Rise, pick up your bed and go home.”

²⁷ And he ^(A)has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man.

³⁷ He answered, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man.

⁸ For ^(A)the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”

²⁰ And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”

¹⁴ Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise ^(A)partook of the same things, that ^(B)through death he might ^(C)destroy ^(D)the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, ¹⁵ and deliver all those who ^(E)through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. ¹⁶ For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he ^(F)helps the offspring of Abraham. ¹⁷ Therefore he had ^(G)to be made like his brothers in every respect, ^(H)so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest ^(I)in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. ¹⁸ For because he himself has suffered ^(J)when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
