Beware of the Scribes^(A)

^45 (B)Then, in the hearing of all the people, He said to His disciples, ^46 (C)“Beware of the scribes, who desire to go around in long robes, ^(D)love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts, ^47 (E)who devour widows’ houses, and for a ^(F)pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation.”

Preeminence of Christ

^9 (A)For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask ^(B)that you may be filled with ^(C)the knowledge of His will ^(D)in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

¹⁷ that ^(A)the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, ^(B)may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

The Great Tribulation^(A)

^15 (B)“Therefore when you see the ^(C)‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” ^(D)(whoever reads, let him understand),

¹⁹ When anyone hears the word ^(A)of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.
