^22 (A)All this took place ^(B)to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:

⁴⁴ Then he said to them, ^(A)“These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, ^(B)that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

²³ And he went and lived in a city called ^(A)Nazareth, ^(B)so that what was spoken by the prophets might be fulfilled, that he would be called a Nazarene.

¹⁵ And he said, ^(A)“Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who with his hand has fulfilled ^(B)what he promised with his mouth to David my father, saying,

²⁴ you have kept with your servant David my father what you declared to him. ^(A)You spoke with your mouth, and with your hand have fulfilled it this day.

¹⁸ But what God ^(A)foretold ^(B)by the mouth of all the prophets, that ^(C)his Christ would ^(D)suffer, he thus fulfilled.

^36 (A)For these things took place that the Scripture might be fulfilled: ^(B)“Not one of his bones ^(C)will be broken.” ³⁷ And again another Scripture says, ^(D)“They will look on him whom they have pierced.”

^9 (A)This was to fulfill the word that he had spoken: “Of those whom you gave me I have lost not one.”

³⁵ This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet:^[a]

The Proclamation of Cyrus

1 ^(A)In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, ^(B)that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so ^(C)that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and also put it in writing:
