Matthew 23:29-33

²⁹“^(A)Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs for the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous, ³⁰and you say, ‘If we had been living in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ ³¹So you testify against yourselves, that you ^(B)are ^[a]sons of those who murdered the prophets. ³²^[b]Fill up, then, the measure of the guilt of your fathers. ³³You snakes, ^(C)you ^[c]offspring of vipers, how ^[d]will you escape the ^[e]sentence of ^[f]^(D)hell?

You build tombs for the prophets^(A) and decorate the graves of the righteous. ³⁰And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ ³¹So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.^(B) ³²Go ahead, then, and complete^(C) what your ancestors started!^(D)
