11 A bu, pan orffennodd yr Iesu orchymyn i’w ddeuddeg disgybl, efe a aeth oddi yno i ddysgu ac i bregethu yn eu dinasoedd hwy. 2 A Ioan, pan glybu yn y carchar weithredoedd Crist, wedi danfon dau o’i ddisgyblion, 3 A ddywedodd wrtho, Ai tydi yw’r hwn sydd yn dyfod, ai un arall yr ydym yn ei ddisgwyl? 4 A’r Iesu a atebodd ac a ddywedodd wrthynt, Ewch, a mynegwch i Ioan y pethau a glywch ac a welwch. 5 Y mae’r deillion yn gweled eilwaith, a’r cloffion yn rhodio, a’r cleifion gwahanol wedi eu glanhau, a’r byddariaid yn clywed; y mae’r meirw yn cyfodi, a’r tlodion yn cael pregethu yr efengyl iddynt. 6 A dedwydd yw’r hwn ni rwystrir ynof fi.
7 Ac a hwy yn myned ymaith, yr Iesu a ddechreuodd ddywedyd wrth y bobloedd am Ioan, Pa beth yr aethoch allan i’r anialwch i edrych amdano? ai corsen yn ysgwyd gan wynt? 8 Eithr pa beth yr aethoch allan i’w weled? ai dyn wedi ei wisgo â dillad esmwyth? wele, y rhai sydd yn gwisgo dillad esmwyth, mewn tai brenhinoedd y maent. 9 Eithr pa beth yr aethoch allan i’w weled? ai proffwyd? ie, meddaf i chwi, a mwy na phroffwyd: 10 Canys hwn ydyw efe am yr hwn yr ysgrifennwyd, Wele, yr ydwyf fi yn anfon fy nghennad o flaen dy wyneb, yr hwn a baratoa dy ffordd o’th flaen. 11 Yn wir meddaf i chwi, Ymhlith plant gwragedd, ni chododd neb mwy nag Ioan Fedyddiwr: er hynny yr hwn sydd leiaf yn nheyrnas nefoedd, sydd fwy nag ef. 12 Ac o ddyddiau Ioan Fedyddiwr hyd yn awr, yr ydys yn treisio teyrnas nefoedd, a threiswyr sydd yn ei chipio hi. 13 Canys yr holl broffwydi a’r gyfraith a broffwydasant hyd Ioan. 14 Ac os ewyllysiwch ei dderbyn, efe yw Eleias, yr hwn oedd ar ddyfod. 15 Y neb sydd ganddo glustiau i wrando, gwrandawed.
16 Eithr i ba beth y cyffelybaf fi’r genhedlaeth hon? Cyffelyb yw i blant yn eistedd yn y marchnadoedd, ac yn llefain wrth eu cyfeillion, 17 Ac yn dywedyd, Canasom bibell i chwi, ac ni ddawnsiasoch; canasom alarnad i chwi, ac ni chwynfanasoch. 18 Canys daeth Ioan heb na bwyta nac yfed; ac meddant, Y mae cythraul ganddo. 19 Daeth Mab y dyn yn bwyta ac yn yfed; ac meddant, Wele ddyn glwth, ac yfwr gwin, cyfaill publicanod a phechaduriaid. A doethineb a gyfiawnhawyd gan ei phlant ei hun.
20 Yna y dechreuodd efe edliw i’r dinasoedd yn y rhai y gwnaethid y rhan fwyaf o’i weithredoedd nerthol ef, am nad edifarhasent: 21 Gwae di, Chorasin! gwae di, Bethsaida! canys pe gwnelsid yn Nhyrus a Sidon y gweithredoedd nerthol a wnaethpwyd ynoch chwi, hwy a edifarhasent er ys talm mewn sachliain a lludw. 22 Eithr meddaf i chwi, Esmwythach fydd i Dyrus a Sidon yn nydd y farn, nag i chwi. 23 A thydi, Capernaum, yr hon a ddyrchafwyd hyd y nef, a dynnir i lawr hyd yn uffern: canys pe gwnelsid yn Sodom y gweithredoedd nerthol a wnaethpwyd ynot ti, hi a fuasai yn aros hyd heddiw. 24 Eithr yr ydwyf yn dywedyd i chwi, Y bydd esmwythach i dir Sodom yn nydd y farn, nag i ti.
25 Yr amser hwnnw yr atebodd yr Iesu, ac y dywedodd, I ti yr ydwyf yn diolch, O Dad, Arglwydd nef a daear, am i ti guddio’r pethau hyn rhag y doethion a’r rhai deallus, a’u datguddio ohonot i rai bychain: 26 Ie, O Dad; canys felly y rhyngodd fodd i ti. 27 Pob peth a roddwyd i mi gan fy Nhad: ac nid edwyn neb y Mab ond y Tad; ac nid edwyn neb y Tad ond y Mab, a’r hwn yr ewyllysio’r Mab ei ddatguddio iddo.
28 Deuwch ataf fi bawb a’r y sydd yn flinderog ac yn llwythog, a mi a esmwythâf arnoch. 29 Cymerwch fy iau arnoch, a dysgwch gennyf; canys addfwyn ydwyf, a gostyngedig o galon: a chwi a gewch orffwystra i’ch eneidiau: 30 Canys fy iau sydd esmwyth, a’m baich sydd ysgafn.

11 And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.
2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?
4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:
5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?
8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.
9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.
10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.
15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,
17 And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:
21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.
23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.
27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Messengers from John the Baptist
11 When Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in their cities.
2 (A)Now when John heard (B)in prison about the deeds of (C)the Christ, he sent word by (D)his disciples 3 and said to him, “Are you (E)the one who is to come, or shall we (F)look for another?” 4 And Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you hear and see: 5 (G)the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers[a] are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and (H)the poor have good news preached to them. 6 And blessed is the one who (I)is not offended by me.”
7 As they went away, Jesus began to speak to the crowds concerning John: “What did you go out (J)into the wilderness to see? (K)A reed shaken by the wind? 8 What then did you go out to see? A man[b] dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. 9 What then did you go out to see? (L)A prophet?[c] Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. 10 This is he of whom it is written,
(M)“‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face,
who will prepare your way before you.’
11 Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 (N)From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence,[d] and the violent take it by force. 13 (O)For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John, 14 and if you are willing to accept it, he is (P)Elijah who is to come. 15 (Q)He who has ears to hear,[e] let him hear.
16 “But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their playmates,
17 “‘We played the flute for you, and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’
18 For John came (R)neither eating (S)nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ 19 The Son of Man came (T)eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, (U)a friend of (V)tax collectors and sinners!’ Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds.”[f]
Woe to Unrepentant Cities
20 (W)Then he began to denounce the cities where most of his mighty works had been done, because they did not repent. 21 (X)“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works done in you had been done in (Y)Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 (Z)But I tell you, it will be more bearable on (AA)the day of judgment for (AB)Tyre and Sidon than for you. 23 And you, (AC)Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You will be brought down to (AD)Hades. For if the mighty works done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 24 (AE)But I tell you that (AF)it will be more tolerable on (AG)the day of judgment for the land of Sodom than for you.”
Come to Me, and I Will Give You Rest
25 (AH)At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, (AI)Lord of heaven and earth, that (AJ)you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and (AK)revealed them to little children; 26 yes, Father, for such was your (AL)gracious will.[g] 27 (AM)All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son (AN)except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone (AO)to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28 (AP)Come to (AQ)me, all who labor and are (AR)heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and (AS)learn from me, for I am (AT)gentle and lowly in heart, and (AU)you will find rest for your souls. 30 For (AV)my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
