Sinais do fim
(Mc 13.1-20; Lc 21.5-24)
24 Quando Jesus ia a sair do recinto do templo, vieram os discípulos que queriam chamar-lhe a atenção para todas aquelas edificações. 2 Porém, disse-lhes: “Não estão a ver tudo isto? É realmente como vos digo: não será deixada aqui pedra sobre pedra que não seja derrubada.”
3 “E quando é que vai acontecer semelhante coisa?”, quiseram saber os discípulos mais tarde, estando ele sentado na encosta do monte das Oliveiras. “Que sinal há que anuncie o teu regresso e o fim do mundo?”
4 Ao que Jesus respondeu: “Cuidado! Não deixem que ninguém vos engane. 5 Porque virão muitos apresentando-se em meu nome, dizendo que são o Cristo, e enganarão a muitos. 6 Quando ouvirem falar de guerras e notícias de guerras, não fiquem inquietos. Isto tem de acontecer, mas ainda não é o fim. 7 As nações levantar-se-ão umas contra as outras, reino contra reino e haverá fomes e terramotos em muitos sítios. 8 Mas tudo isso será apenas o começo dos horrores que hão de vir.
9 Então entregar-vos-ão para serem torturados, matar-vos-ão e todos vos odiarão por causa do meu nome. 10 E muitos voltarão para o pecado, trair-se-ão e odiar-se-ão uns aos outros; 11 aparecerão falsos profetas que arrastarão muitos para o erro. 12 E crescerá de tal maneira a transgressão que o amor de muitos arrefecerá. 13 Mas quem resistir até ao fim será salvo! 14 As boas novas do reino serão pregadas no mundo inteiro, para que todas as nações as ouçam, e então virá o fim.
15 Portanto, quando virem a abominação desoladora de que o profeta Daniel falou, instalada no lugar santo (quem ler isto preste muita atenção),[a] 16 então aqueles que estiverem na Judeia fujam para as montanhas! 17 Quem estiver no terraço não entre sequer de novo em casa. 18 Quem estiver nos campos não volte para ir buscar roupa. 19 Ai das grávidas e das que amamentarem naqueles dias! 20 Orem para que a vossa fuga não aconteça no inverno nem num sábado.
21 Porque serão dias de horror, como o mundo jamais viu em toda a sua história, nem nunca mais se tornará a ver coisa igual. 22 Se aqueles dias não fossem encurtados, toda a humanidade se perderia. Mas aqueles dias serão encurtados por amor dos seus escolhidos.
Jesus fala do seu regresso
(Mc 13.21-31; Lc 21.25-33; 17.23-24, 37)
23 Então, se alguém vos disser: ‘O Cristo apareceu aqui ou está além, naquela vila’, não acreditem. 24 Porque haverá muitos falsos Cristos e falsos profetas cujos grandes sinais enganariam, se possível, os próprios escolhidos de Deus. 25 Tenham cuidado, porque já vos avisei.
26 Portanto, se alguém vos disser que o Cristo voltou e está no deserto, não se deem ao trabalho de ir ver; ou que ele está escondido em determinado sítio, não creiam em tal! 27 Porque, assim como o relâmpago ilumina o céu do nascente ao poente, assim será o regresso do Filho do Homem. 28 Onde estiver o cadáver, aí se juntarão os abutres!
29 Logo depois da aflição que naqueles dias haverá, o Sol ficará escuro, a Lua negra, as estrelas cairão do céu e as forças que suportam o universo serão sacudidas. 30 Por fim, aparecerá o sinal do Filho do Homem no céu.[b] Todas as tribos da Terra chorarão e verão o Filho do Homem, vindo no meio de nuvens, com poder e grande glória. 31 E enviará os seus anjos com forte toque de trombeta, para juntarem os seus escolhidos, de um extremo ao outro do céu.
32 Aprendam agora com esta parábola sobre a figueira: quando o ramo está tenro e as folhas começam a romper, sabem que o verão está perto. 33 E quando virem acontecer todas estas coisas que vos contei, podem estar certos de que o meu regresso está muito próximo e que me encontro às portas. 34 É realmente como vos digo: esta geração não passará sem que todas estas coisas aconteçam.
35 O céu e a Terra desaparecerão, mas as minhas palavras permanecem para sempre.
O dia e a hora desconhecidos
(Mc 13.32-37; Lc 21.34-36; 17.26-27, 34-35; 12.39-46)
36 Contudo, ninguém sabe a data e a hora em que o fim virá, nem mesmo os anjos, nem sequer o Filho de Deus. Só o Pai o sabe.
37 Assim como foi nos dias de Noé, assim será no dia do regresso do Filho do Homem. 38 Com efeito, assim acontecia nos dias que precederam o dilúvio: as pessoas comiam e bebiam, casavam-se e davam-se em casamento, até ao dia em que Noé entrou na arca; 39 as pessoas não se deram conta do que se avizinhava, até que o dilúvio veio e os levou a todos. Assim também será a vinda do Filho do Homem. 40 Dois homens estarão juntos nos campos; um será levado e o outro ficará. 41 Duas mulheres estarão ocupadas no seu trabalho no moinho; uma será levada e a outra deixada. 42 Portanto, vigiem bem, porque não sabem quando vem o vosso Senhor.
43 Saibam isto: se o senhor da casa soubesse exatamente quando o ladrão vem ficaria de vigilância, e não permitiria que a casa fosse arrombada. 44 Por isso, também devem estar prontos em todo o tempo, porque o Filho do Homem virá quando menos o esperarem.
45 Quem é o servo fiel e sensato, a quem o seu senhor confiou a responsabilidade sobre a criadagem, para lhes dar o alimento à hora certa? 46 Feliz é o servo cujo senhor, no seu regresso, encontrar a fazer um bom trabalho. 47 É realmente como vos digo: o senhor porá tal servo sobre tudo o que tem. 48 Mas se o mau servo disser consigo próprio: ‘O meu senhor não voltará tão cedo’, 49 e começar a maltratar os seus companheiros e a fazer uma vida de comezainas e bebedeiras, 50 o seu senhor, ao voltar sem aviso, num dia e numa hora em que não é esperado, 51 castigá-lo-á severamente e dar-lhe-á a condenação reservada aos fingidos, mandando-o para onde haverá choro e ranger de dentes.”

Jesus Foretells Destruction of the Temple
24 (A)Jesus left the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple. 2 But he answered them, “You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you, (B)there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”
Signs of the End of the Age
3 As he sat on (C)the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him (D)privately, saying, “Tell us, (E)when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your (F)coming and of (G)the end of the age?” 4 And Jesus answered them, (H)“See that no one leads you astray. 5 For (I)many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am (J)the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you (K)are not alarmed, for this (L)must take place, but the end is not yet. 7 For (M)nation will rise against nation, and (N)kingdom against kingdom, and there will be (O)famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are but the beginning of (P)the birth pains.
9 “Then (Q)they will deliver you up (R)to tribulation and (S)put you to death, and (T)you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then many will fall away[a] and (U)betray one another and hate one another. 11 And many (V)false prophets will arise (W)and lead many astray. 12 And because lawlessness will be increased, (X)the love of many will grow cold. 13 (Y)But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom (Z)will be proclaimed throughout the whole world (AA)as a testimony (AB)to all nations, and (AC)then the end will come.
The Abomination of Desolation
15 “So when you see the abomination of desolation (AD)spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in (AE)the holy place ((AF)let the reader understand), 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 (AG)Let the one who is on (AH)the housetop not go down to take what is in his house, 18 and let the one who is in the field not turn back to take his cloak. 19 And (AI)alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! 20 Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a Sabbath. 21 For then there will be (AJ)great tribulation, (AK)such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. 22 And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for (AL)the sake of the elect those days will be cut short. 23 (AM)Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For (AN)false christs and (AO)false prophets will arise and (AP)perform great signs and wonders, (AQ)so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, (AR)I have told you beforehand. 26 So, if they say to you, ‘Look, (AS)he is in the wilderness,’ do not go out. If they say, ‘Look, he is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 (AT)For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be (AU)the coming of the Son of Man. 28 (AV)Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.
The Coming of the Son of Man
29 “Immediately after (AW)the tribulation of those days (AX)the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and (AY)the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then (AZ)will appear in heaven (BA)the sign of the Son of Man, and then (BB)all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and (BC)they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven (BD)with power and great glory. 31 And (BE)he will send out his angels with a loud (BF)trumpet call, and they will (BG)gather (BH)his elect from (BI)the four winds, (BJ)from one end of heaven to the other.
The Lesson of the Fig Tree
32 “From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So also, when you see all these things, you know that he is near, (BK)at the very gates. 34 (BL)Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. 35 (BM)Heaven and earth will pass away, but (BN)my words will not pass away.
No One Knows That Day and Hour
36 “But concerning that day and hour (BO)no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, (BP)nor the Son,[b] (BQ)but the Father only. 37 (BR)For as were the days of Noah, (BS)so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 38 (BT)For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, (BU)marrying and giving in marriage, until (BV)the day when Noah entered the ark, 39 and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, (BW)so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. 41 (BX)Two women will be grinding (BY)at the mill; one will be taken and one left. 42 Therefore, (BZ)stay awake, for you do not know on what day (CA)your Lord is coming. 43 (CB)But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night (CC)the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 Therefore you also must be (CD)ready, for (CE)the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
45 “Who then is (CF)the faithful and (CG)wise servant,[c] whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time? 46 (CH)Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. 47 Truly, I say to you, (CI)he will set him over all his possessions. 48 But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My master (CJ)is delayed,’ 49 and begins to beat his fellow servants[d] and eats and drinks with (CK)drunkards, 50 the master of that servant will come (CL)on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know 51 and will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites. In that place (CM)there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

24 Si Jesus ay lumabas sa templo at paalis na nang lapitan siya ng kanyang mga alagad upang ipakita sa kanya ang mga gusali ng templo. 2 Sumagot siya sa kanila, “Hindi ba't nakikita ninyo ang lahat ng mga ito? Tinitiyak ko sa inyo, wala ritong maiiwan kahit isang bato na nasa ibabaw ng isa pang bato. Lahat ng mga ito'y pawang ibabagsak.”
Mga Kahirapan at Pag-uusig na Darating(B)
3 Habang si Jesus ay nakaupo sa Bundok ng mga Olibo, nilapitan siya nang sarilinan ng kanyang mga alagad. Sinabi nila, “Sabihin mo po sa amin, kailan magaganap ang mga bagay na ito at ano ang palatandaan ng iyong pagdating, at ng katapusan ng panahon?” 4 Sumagot si Jesus at sinabi sa kanila, “Mag-ingat kayo! Huwag kayong palilinlang kaninuman. 5 Sapagkat maraming darating na gagamit ng aking pangalan, na magsasabing sila ang Cristo, at marami silang maililigaw. 6 At makaririnig kayo ng mga digmaan at ng usap-usapan ng mga digmaan. Mag-ingat kayo at huwag kayong mabahala, sapagkat kailangang mangyari ito, ngunit hindi pa ito ang wakas. 7 Lulusob ang mga bansa laban sa ibang bansa, at magdidigmaan ang mga kaharian. Magkakaroon ng taggutom at lilindol sa iba't ibang dako. 8 Subalit ang lahat ng mga ito ay simula pa lamang ng paghihirap na katulad ng sa panganganak.
9 “Pagkatapos (C) ay dadakpin kayo upang pahirapan at kayo'y papatayin. Kayo'y kamumuhian ng lahat ng mga bansa dahil sa aking pangalan. 10 Maraming tatalikod sa pananampalataya, magkakanulo sa isa't isa at mapopoot sa isa't isa. 11 Maglilitawan ang maraming huwad na propeta at lilinlangin nila ang marami. 12 Dahil sa paglaganap ng kasamaan, marami ang manlalamig sa kanilang pag-ibig. 13 Ngunit (D) ang matirang matibay hanggang wakas ay maliligtas. 14 At ang ebanghelyong ito ng kaharian ay ipangangaral sa buong daigdig bilang patotoo sa lahat ng mga bansa. 15 “Kaya, (F) kapag nakita ninyong nakatayo sa banal na dako ang kasuklam-suklam na sinabi sa pamamagitan ni propeta Daniel,—unawain ng bumabasa—, 16 ang mga nasa Judea ay tumakas na at pumunta sa mga bundok. 17 Huwag nang bumaba ang (G) nasa ibabaw ng bahay upang kumuha ng anuman sa loob ng kanyang bahay. 18 At ang nasa bukid ay huwag nang bumalik upang kumuha ng kanyang balabal. 19 Ngunit kay saklap para sa mga buntis at mga nagpapasuso ang mga araw na iyon! 20 Kaya't ipanalangin ninyo na ang pagtakas ninyo ay hindi matapat sa taglamig o sa araw ng Sabbath. 21 Sapagkat (H) sa panahong iyon ay magkakaroon ng matinding kapighatiang hindi pa nangyari mula sa pasimula ng sanlibutan hanggang ngayon, at hindi na kailanman mangyayari pa. 22 At malibang paiikliin ang mga araw na iyon, ang lahat ng laman ay mapapahamak. Ngunit alang-alang sa mga pinili ay paiikliin ang mga araw na iyon. 23 At kapag may nagsabi sa inyo, ‘Tingnan ninyo, narito ang Cristo!’ o, ‘Naroon siya!’ huwag kayong maniwala. 24 Sapagkat may magsisilitaw na mga huwad na Cristo at mga huwad na propeta, at magpapakita ng mga kahanga-hangang himala at mga kababalaghan, na dahil dito'y maililihis, kung maaari, pati ang mga pinili. 25 Tandaan ninyo, sinabi ko na sa inyo bago pa man ito mangyari. 26 Kaya, (I) kapag sinabi nila sa inyo, ‘Tingnan ninyo, naroon siya sa ilang,’ huwag kayong lumabas. Kung sabihin nila, ‘Tingnan ninyo, nasa loob siya ng mga silid,’ huwag kayong maniwala. 27 Sapagkat kung paano dumarating ang kidlat mula sa silangan at gumuguhit hanggang sa kanluran, sa gayunding paraan ang pagdating ng Anak ng Tao. 28 Kung (J) nasaan ang bangkay, doon nagkakatipon ang mga buwitre.[a]
Ang Pagdating ng Anak ng Tao(K)
29 “At (L) kasunod agad ng kapighatian sa mga araw na iyon ay magdidilim ang araw, at ang buwan ay hindi magbibigay ng kanyang liwanag, at ang mga bituin ay mahuhulog mula sa langit, at ang mga kapangyarihan ng kalangitan ay mayayanig. 30 Pagkatapos (M) ay lilitaw sa langit ang palatandaan ng Anak ng Tao, at magluluksa ang lahat ng mga lipi sa lupa. Makikita nila ang Anak ng Tao na dumarating na nasa ibabaw ng mga ulap sa himpapawid, taglay ang kapangyarihan at maringal na kaluwalhatian. 31 At isusugo niya ang kanyang mga anghel na may malakas na hudyat ng trumpeta. Titipunin nila ang kanyang mga pinili mula sa apat na ihip ng hangin, mula sa isang dulo ng kalangitan hanggang sa kabila.
Ang Aral Mula sa Puno ng Igos(N)
32 “Ngayon ay matuto kayo ng aral mula sa puno ng igos: kapag malambot na ang sanga nito at sumisibol na ang mga dahon, nalalaman ninyong malapit na ang tag-init. 33 Gayundin naman, kapag nakita ninyo ang lahat ng mga pangyayaring ito, alam ninyong ito[b] ay malapit na, nasa may pintuan na. 34 Tinitiyak ko sa inyo, hindi lilipas ang salinlahing ito, hanggang hindi nagaganap ang lahat ng mga ito. 35 Lilipas ang langit at ang lupa, ngunit hindi kailanman lilipas ang aking mga salita.
Walang Taong Nakakaalam ng Araw o Oras na Iyon(O)
36 “Subalit tungkol sa araw at oras na iyon ay walang nakaaalam, kahit ang mga anghel sa langit, kahit ang Anak, (P) maliban sa Ama. 37 Kung paano noong kapanahunan ni Noe, gayundin naman sa pagdating ng Anak ng Tao. 38 Sapagkat kung paano noong mga araw na iyon bago dumating ang baha, ang mga tao'y kumakain at umiinom, nag-aasawa at pinag-aasawa, hanggang sa araw na pumasok si Noe sa daong. 39 At (Q) wala silang kaalam-alam hanggang sa dumating ang baha, at tinangay silang lahat. Gayundin naman sa pagdating ng Anak ng Tao. 40 Sa araw na iyon ay may dalawang taong pupunta sa bukid, kukunin ang isa, at ang isa'y iiwan. 41 May dalawang babaing gumigiling ng butil sa gilingan. Kukunin ang isa, at ang isa'y iiwan. 42 Kaya't magbantay kayo, sapagkat hindi ninyo alam kung anong araw[c] darating ang inyong Panginoon. 43 (R) Unawain ninyo ito: Kung alam ng may-ari ng bahay kung anong bahagi ng gabi darating ang magnanakaw, magbabantay siya at hindi niya hahayaang malooban ang kanyang bahay. 44 Dahil dito'y maging handa rin kayo, sapagkat ang Anak ng Tao ay darating sa oras na hindi ninyo aakalain.
Ang Tapat at ang Di-tapat na Alipin(S)
45 “Sino nga ba ang mapagkakatiwalaan at matalinong alipin? Hindi ba't siya na pinagbilinan ng kanyang panginoon na mamahala sa kanyang sambahayan, upang mamahagi sa kanila ng pagkain sa takdang panahon? 46 Pinagpala ang alipin na sa pagdating ng kanyang panginoon ay matagpuan siyang ganoon nga ang ginagawa. 47 Tinitiyak ko sa inyo, pamamahalain siya ng kanyang panginoon sa lahat ng ari-arian nito. 48 Subalit kung masama ang aliping iyon at magsabi sa kanyang sarili, ‘Matatagalan pa ang aking panginoon,’ 49 magsisimula siyang manakit ng mga kapwa niya alipin. At makisalo at makipag-inuman pa sa mga lasenggo. 50 Ang panginoon ng aliping iyon ay darating sa araw na hindi niya akalain at sa oras na hindi niya nalalaman. 51 Siya'y pagpuputul-putulin ng kanyang panginoon at ilalagay sa lugar ng mga mapagpanggap, at doo'y magkakaroon ng pagtangis at pagngangalit ng mga ngipin.
