Jesús denuncia la hipocresía (Mc 12,38-40, Lc 11,43; 20,46)
23 Jesús se dirigió entonces a la gente y a sus propios discípulos 2 y les dijo:
— Los maestros de la ley y los fariseos han sido los encargados de interpretar la ley de Moisés. 3 Obedézcanlos, pues, y cumplan cuanto les digan; pero no imiten su conducta, porque ellos mismos no hacen lo que enseñan: 4 echan cargas pesadas e insoportables sobre los hombros de los demás, pero ellos no están dispuestos a mover ni siquiera un dedo para llevarlas. 5 Todo lo hacen para que la gente los vea. Usan filacterias más anchas y flecos más largos que ningún otro; 6 les gusta ocupar los primeros puestos en los banquetes, sentarse en los lugares preferentes en las sinagogas, 7 ser saludados en público y que la gente los llame “maestros”. 8 Ustedes, en cambio, no se hagan llamar “maestro”; el único maestro de ustedes es Cristo y todos ustedes son hermanos unos de otros. 9 Ni tampoco llamen a nadie “padre nuestro” en este mundo, porque el único Padre de ustedes es el del cielo. 10 Ni tampoco se hagan llamar “maestros”, porque el único maestro de ustedes es Cristo. 11 El más grande entre ustedes será el que se ponga al servicio de los demás. 12 Al que se ensalce a sí mismo, Dios lo humillará; pero al que se humille a sí mismo, Dios lo ensalzará.
13 ¡Ay de ustedes, maestros de la ley y fariseos hipócritas, que cierran a la gente la entrada en el reino de los cielos! Ni entran ustedes ni dejan entrar a los que quieren entrar.
14 [¡Ay de ustedes, maestros de la ley y fariseos hipócritas, que devoran las haciendas de las viudas y que, para disimular, pronuncian largas oraciones! Por eso ustedes recibirán mayor castigo].
15 ¡Ay de ustedes, maestros de la ley y fariseos hipócritas, que recorren tierra y mar en busca de un prosélito y, cuando lo han conseguido, hacen de él un modelo de maldad dos veces peor que ustedes mismos!
16 ¡Ay de ustede, guías de ciegos, que dicen: “Jurar por el Templo no compromete a nada. Lo que compromete es jurar por el oro del Templo”! 17 ¡Estúpidos y ciegos! ¿Qué es más importante, el oro o el Templo por el que el oro queda consagrado? 18 Y dicen también: “Jurar por el altar no compromete a nada. Lo que compromete es jurar por la ofrenda que está sobre el altar”. 19 ¡Ciegos! ¿Qué es más importante, la ofrenda o el altar por el que la ofrenda queda consagrada? 20 El que jura por el altar, jura también por todo lo que hay sobre él; 21 el que jura por el Templo, jura también por aquel que vive dentro de él. 22 Y el que jura por el cielo, jura también por el trono de Dios y por Dios mismo, que se sienta en ese trono.
23 ¡Ay de ustedes, maestros de la ley y fariseos hipócritas, que ofrecen a Dios el diezmo de la menta, del anís y del comino, pero no se preocupan de lo más importante de la ley, que es la justicia, la misericordia y la fe! Esto último es lo que deberían hacer, aunque sin dejar de cumplir también lo otro. 24 ¡Guías ciegos, que cuelan el mosquito y se tragan el camello!
25 ¡Ay de ustedes, maestros de la ley y fariseos hipócritas, que limpian por fuera la copa y el plato, mientras por dentro siguen sucios con el producto de su propia rapacidad y codicia! 26 ¡Fariseo ciego, limpia primero la copa por dentro, y así quedará limpia también por fuera!
27 ¡Ay de ustedes, maestros de la ley y fariseos hipócritas, que son como sepulcros blanqueados, hermosos por fuera, pero llenos por dentro de huesos de muerto y podredumbre! 28 Así también ustedes: se hacen pasar por justos delante de la gente, pero tienen el interior lleno de hipocresía y maldad.
29 ¡Ay de ustedes, maestros de la ley y fariseos hipócritas, que construyen los sepulcros de los profetas y adornan los monumentos funerarios de los justos 30 diciendo: “Si nosotros hubiéramos vivido en los tiempos de nuestros antepasados, no nos habríamos unido a ellos para derramar la sangre de los profetas”! 31 Pero con ello están demostrando, contra ustedes mismos, que son descendientes de los que asesinaron a los profetas. 32 ¡Completen, pues, ustedes la obra que comenzaron sus antepasados!
33 ¡Serpientes! ¡Hijos de víbora! ¿Cómo podrán escapar al castigo de la gehena? 34 Porque miren: yo voy a enviarles mensajeros, sabios y maestros de la ley; a unos ustedes los matarán y crucificarán, a otros los azotarán en sus sinagogas y perseguirán de ciudad en ciudad. 35 De ese modo se harán culpables de toda la sangre inocente derramada en este mundo, desde la sangre del justo Abel hasta la de Zacarías, el hijo de Baraquías, a quien ustedes asesinaron entre el santuario y el altar. 36 ¡Les aseguro que todo esto le ocurrirá a la presente generación!
Lamento de Jesús por Jerusalén (Lc 13,34-35)
37 ¡Jerusalén, Jerusalén, que matas a los profetas y apedreas a los mensajeros que Dios te envía! ¡Cuántas veces he querido reunir a tus hijos como la gallina reúne a sus pollitos bajo las alas, y ustedes se negaron! 38 Pues miren: la ciudad va a quedar desierta. 39 Porque les digo que no volverán a verme hasta el momento en que digan: “ Bendito el que viene en nombre del Señor”.

23 Da redete Jesus zu der Volksmenge und zu seinen Jüngern
2 und sprach: Die Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer haben sich auf Moses Stuhl gesetzt.
3 Alles nun, was sie euch sagen, dass ihr halten sollt, das haltet und tut; aber nach ihren Werken tut nicht, denn sie sagen es wohl, tun es aber nicht.
4 Sie binden nämlich schwere und kaum erträgliche Bürden und legen sie den Menschen auf die Schultern; sie aber wollen sie nicht mit einem Finger anrühren.
5 Alle ihre Werke tun sie aber, um von den Leuten gesehen zu werden. Sie machen nämlich ihre Gebetsriemen breit und die Säume an ihren Gewändern groß,
6 und sie lieben den obersten Platz bei den Mahlzeiten und die ersten Sitze in den Synagogen
7 und die Begrüßungen auf den Märkten, und wenn sie von den Leuten »Rabbi, Rabbi«[a] genannt werden.
8 Ihr aber sollt euch nicht Rabbi nennen lassen, denn einer ist euer Meister, der Christus; ihr aber seid alle Brüder.
9 Nennt auch niemand auf Erden euren Vater; denn einer ist euer Vater, der im Himmel ist.
10 Auch sollt ihr euch nicht Meister nennen lassen; denn einer ist euer Meister, der Christus.
11 Der Größte aber unter euch soll euer Diener sein.
12 Wer sich aber selbst erhöht, der wird erniedrigt werden; und wer sich selbst erniedrigt, der wird erhöht werden.
13 Aber wehe euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler, dass ihr das Reich der Himmel vor den Menschen zuschließt! Ihr selbst geht nicht hinein, und die hinein wollen, die lasst ihr nicht hinein.
14 Wehe euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler, dass ihr die Häuser der Witwen fresst und zum Schein lange betet. Darum werdet ihr ein schwereres Gericht empfangen!
15 Wehe euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler, dass ihr Meer und Land durchzieht, um einen einzigen Proselyten[b] zu machen, und wenn er es geworden ist, macht ihr einen Sohn der Hölle aus ihm, zweimal mehr, als ihr es seid!
16 Wehe euch, ihr blinden Führer, die ihr sagt: Wer beim Tempel schwört, das gilt nichts; wer aber beim Gold des Tempels schwört, der ist gebunden.
17 Ihr Narren und Blinden, was ist denn größer, das Gold oder der Tempel, der das Gold heiligt?
18 Und: Wer beim Brandopferaltar schwört, das gilt nichts; wer aber beim Opfer schwört, das darauf liegt, der ist gebunden.
19 Ihr Narren und Blinden! Was ist denn größer, das Opfer oder der Brandopferaltar, der das Opfer heiligt?
20 Darum, wer beim Altar schwört, der schwört bei ihm und bei allem, was darauf ist.
21 Und wer beim Tempel schwört, der schwört bei ihm und bei dem, der darin wohnt.
22 Und wer beim Himmel schwört, der schwört bei dem Thron Gottes und bei dem, der darauf sitzt.
23 Wehe euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler, dass ihr die Minze und den Anis und den Kümmel verzehntet und das Wichtigere im Gesetz vernachlässigt, nämlich das Recht[c] und das Erbarmen und den Glauben! Dieses sollte man tun und jenes nicht lassen.
24 Ihr blinden Führer, die ihr die Mücke aussiebt, das Kamel aber verschluckt!
25 Wehe euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler, dass ihr das Äußere des Bechers und der Schüssel reinigt, inwendig aber sind sie voller Raub und Unmäßigkeit!
26 Du blinder Pharisäer, reinige zuerst das Inwendige des Bechers und der Schüssel, damit auch ihr Äußeres rein werde!
27 Wehe euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler, dass ihr getünchten Gräbern[d] gleicht, die äußerlich zwar schön scheinen, inwendig aber voller Totengebeine und aller Unreinheit sind!
28 So erscheint auch ihr äußerlich vor den Menschen als gerecht, inwendig aber seid ihr voller Heuchelei und Gesetzlosigkeit.
29 Wehe euch, ihr Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer, ihr Heuchler, dass ihr die Gräber der Propheten baut und die Denkmäler der Gerechten schmückt
30 und sagt: Hätten wir in den Tagen unserer Väter gelebt, wir hätten uns nicht mit ihnen des Blutes der Propheten schuldig gemacht.
31 So gebt ihr ja euch selbst das Zeugnis, dass ihr Söhne der Prophetenmörder seid.
32 Ja, macht ihr nur das Maß eurer Väter voll!
33 Ihr Schlangen! Ihr Otterngezücht! Wie wollt ihr dem Gericht der Hölle entgehen?
34 Siehe, darum sende ich zu euch Propheten und Weise und Schriftgelehrte; und etliche von ihnen werdet ihr töten und kreuzigen, und etliche werdet ihr in euren Synagogen geißeln und sie verfolgen von einer Stadt zur anderen,
35 damit über euch alles gerechte Blut kommt, das auf Erden vergossen worden ist, vom Blut Abels, des Gerechten, bis zum Blut des Zacharias, des Sohnes Barachias, den ihr zwischen dem Tempel und dem Altar getötet habt.
36 Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Dies alles wird über dieses Geschlecht kommen!
Klage über Jerusalem
37 Jerusalem, Jerusalem, die du die Propheten tötest und steinigst, die zu dir gesandt sind! Wie oft habe ich deine Kinder sammeln wollen, wie eine Henne ihre Küken unter die Flügel sammelt, aber ihr habt nicht gewollt!
38 Siehe, euer Haus wird euch verwüstet gelassen werden;
39 denn ich sage euch: Ihr werdet mich von jetzt an nicht mehr sehen, bis ihr sprechen werdet: »Gepriesen sei der, welcher kommt im Namen des Herrn!«[e]

23 Entonces habló Jesús a la gente y a sus discípulos, diciendo: 2 En la cátedra de Moisés se sientan los escribas y los fariseos. 3 Así que, todo lo que os digan que guardéis, guardadlo y hacedlo; mas no hagáis conforme a sus obras, porque dicen, y no hacen. 4 Porque atan cargas pesadas y difíciles de llevar, y las ponen sobre los hombros de los hombres; pero ellos ni con un dedo quieren moverlas. 5 Antes, hacen todas sus obras para ser vistos por los hombres.(A) Pues ensanchan sus filacterias,(B) y extienden los flecos(C) de sus mantos; 6 y aman los primeros asientos en las cenas, y las primeras sillas en las sinagogas, 7 y las salutaciones en las plazas, y que los hombres los llamen: Rabí, Rabí. 8 Pero vosotros no queráis que os llamen Rabí; porque uno es vuestro Maestro, el Cristo, y todos vosotros sois hermanos. 9 Y no llaméis padre vuestro a nadie en la tierra; porque uno es vuestro Padre, el que está en los cielos. 10 Ni seáis llamados maestros; porque uno es vuestro Maestro, el Cristo. 11 El que es el mayor de vosotros, sea vuestro siervo.(D) 12 Porque el que se enaltece será humillado, y el que se humilla será enaltecido.(E)
13 Mas ¡ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! porque cerráis el reino de los cielos delante de los hombres; pues ni entráis vosotros, ni dejáis entrar a los que están entrando. 14 ¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! porque devoráis las casas de las viudas, y como pretexto hacéis largas oraciones; por esto recibiréis mayor condenación. 15 ¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! porque recorréis mar y tierra para hacer un prosélito, y una vez hecho, le hacéis dos veces más hijo del infierno que vosotros.
16 ¡Ay de vosotros, guías ciegos! que decís: Si alguno jura por el templo, no es nada; pero si alguno jura por el oro del templo, es deudor. 17 ¡Insensatos y ciegos! porque ¿cuál es mayor, el oro, o el templo que santifica al oro? 18 También decís: Si alguno jura por el altar, no es nada; pero si alguno jura por la ofrenda que está sobre él, es deudor. 19 ¡Necios y ciegos! porque ¿cuál es mayor, la ofrenda, o el altar que santifica la ofrenda? 20 Pues el que jura por el altar, jura por él, y por todo lo que está sobre él; 21 y el que jura por el templo, jura por él, y por el que lo habita; 22 y el que jura por el cielo, jura por el trono de Dios,(F) y por aquel que está sentado en él.
23 ¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! porque diezmáis la menta y el eneldo y el comino,(G) y dejáis lo más importante de la ley: la justicia, la misericordia y la fe. Esto era necesario hacer, sin dejar de hacer aquello. 24 ¡Guías ciegos, que coláis el mosquito, y tragáis el camello!
25 ¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! porque limpiáis lo de fuera del vaso y del plato, pero por dentro estáis llenos de robo y de injusticia. 26 ¡Fariseo ciego! Limpia primero lo de dentro del vaso y del plato, para que también lo de fuera sea limpio.
27 ¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! porque sois semejantes a sepulcros blanqueados,(H) que por fuera, a la verdad, se muestran hermosos, mas por dentro están llenos de huesos de muertos y de toda inmundicia. 28 Así también vosotros por fuera, a la verdad, os mostráis justos a los hombres, pero por dentro estáis llenos de hipocresía e iniquidad.
29 ¡Ay de vosotros, escribas y fariseos, hipócritas! porque edificáis los sepulcros de los profetas, y adornáis los monumentos de los justos, 30 y decís: Si hubiésemos vivido en los días de nuestros padres, no hubiéramos sido sus cómplices en la sangre de los profetas. 31 Así que dais testimonio contra vosotros mismos, de que sois hijos de aquellos que mataron a los profetas. 32 ¡Vosotros también llenad la medida de vuestros padres! 33 ¡Serpientes, generación de víboras!(I) ¿Cómo escaparéis de la condenación del infierno? 34 Por tanto, he aquí yo os envío profetas y sabios y escribas; y de ellos, a unos mataréis y crucificaréis, y a otros azotaréis en vuestras sinagogas, y perseguiréis de ciudad en ciudad; 35 para que venga sobre vosotros toda la sangre justa que se ha derramado sobre la tierra, desde la sangre de Abel(J) el justo hasta la sangre de Zacarías(K) hijo de Berequías, a quien matasteis entre el templo y el altar. 36 De cierto os digo que todo esto vendrá sobre esta generación.

A Warning Against Hypocrisy(A)(B)
23 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: 2 “The teachers of the law(C) and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. 3 So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. 4 They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.(D)
5 “Everything they do is done for people to see:(E) They make their phylacteries[a](F) wide and the tassels on their garments(G) long; 6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues;(H) 7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.(I)
8 “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father,(J) and he is in heaven. 10 Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah. 11 The greatest among you will be your servant.(K) 12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.(L)
Seven Woes on the Teachers of the Law and the Pharisees
13 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!(M) You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.(N) [14] [b]
15 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert,(O) and when you have succeeded, you make them twice as much a child of hell(P) as you are.
16 “Woe to you, blind guides!(Q) You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but anyone who swears by the gold of the temple is bound by that oath.’(R) 17 You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?(S) 18 You also say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but anyone who swears by the gift on the altar is bound by that oath.’ 19 You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?(T) 20 Therefore, anyone who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. 21 And anyone who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells(U) in it. 22 And anyone who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the one who sits on it.(V)
23 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth(W) of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness.(X) You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. 24 You blind guides!(Y) You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.
25 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish,(Z) but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.(AA) 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.
27 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs,(AB) which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. 28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
29 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets(AC) and decorate the graves of the righteous. 30 And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our ancestors, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ 31 So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.(AD) 32 Go ahead, then, and complete(AE) what your ancestors started!(AF)
33 “You snakes! You brood of vipers!(AG) How will you escape being condemned to hell?(AH) 34 Therefore I am sending you prophets and sages and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify;(AI) others you will flog in your synagogues(AJ) and pursue from town to town.(AK) 35 And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel(AL) to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah,(AM) whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.(AN) 36 Truly I tell you, all this will come on this generation.(AO)
37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you,(AP) how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings,(AQ) and you were not willing. 38 Look, your house is left to you desolate.(AR) 39 For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’[c]”(AS)
