Ang mga Isinugo ni Juan na Tagapagbautismo(A)
11 Pagkatapos ng mga tagubiling ito sa kanyang labindalawang alagad, umalis si Jesus upang magturo at mangaral sa mga bayang malapit doon.
2 Nakabilanggo na noon si Juan na Tagapagbautismo. Nabalitaan niya ang mga ginagawa ni Cristo kaya't nagsugo siya ng ilang mga alagad 3 upang itanong, “Kayo po ba ang ipinangakong darating, o maghihintay pa kami ng iba?” 4 Sumagot si Jesus, “Bumalik kayo kay Juan at sabihin ninyo sa kanya ang inyong naririnig at nakikita. 5 Nakakakita(B) ang mga bulag, nakakalakad ang mga pilay, gumagaling[a] ang mga ketongin, nakakarinig ang mga bingi, muling nabubuhay ang mga patay, at ipinapangaral sa mga mahihirap ang Magandang Balita. 6 Pinagpala ang taong hindi nag-aalinlangan sa akin!”
7 Nang paalis na ang mga alagad ni Juan, nagsalita si Jesus sa mga tao tungkol kay Juan, “Bakit kayo nagpunta sa ilang? Ano ang nais ninyong makita? Isa bang tambo na hinihipan ng hangin? 8 Bakit kayo pumunta sa ilang? Para makita ang isang taong may mamahaling kasuotan? Ang mga nagdaramit ng ganyan ay nasa palasyo ng mga hari! 9 Ano nga ba ang nais ninyong makita? Isang propeta?[b] Oo, siya'y propeta. At sinasabi ko sa inyo, siya'y higit pa sa isang propeta. 10 Sapagkat(C) si Juan ang tinutukoy ng kasulatan, ‘Ipadadala ko ang aking sugo na mauuna sa iyo; ihahanda niya ang iyong daraanan.’ 11 Tandaan ninyo: higit na dakila si Juan na Tagapagbautismo kaysa sinumang isinilang sa daigdig, ngunit ang pinakahamak sa kaharian ng langit ay mas dakila kaysa kanya. 12 Mula(D) nang mangaral si Juan na Tagapagbautismo hanggang ngayon, ang kaharian ng langit ay sapilitang pinapasok ng mga taong mararahas.[c] 13 Sapagkat hanggang sa dumating si Juan, ang mga propeta at ang Kautusan ang siyang nagpahayag tungkol sa kaharian ng langit.[d] 14 Kung(E) naniniwala kayo sa pahayag na ito, si Juan na nga ang Elias na ipinangakong darating. 15 Makinig ang may pandinig!
16 “Saan ko ihahambing ang mga tao sa panahong ito? Ang katulad nila'y mga batang nakaupo sa lansangan at sumisigaw sa kanilang mga kalaro: 17 ‘Tinugtugan namin kayo ng plauta ngunit ayaw ninyong sumayaw! Umawit kami ng awit ng pagluluksa, ngunit ayaw ninyong tumangis!’ 18 Sapagkat nakita nila si Juan na nag-aayuno at di umiinom ng alak, at ang sabi nila, ‘Sinasaniban ng demonyo ang taong iyan.’ 19 Nakita naman nila ang Anak ng Tao na kumakain at umiinom, at ang sabi naman nila, ‘Tingnan ninyo ang taong ito! Matakaw, lasenggo at kaibigan ng mga maniningil ng buwis at makasalanan.’ Gayunman, ang karunungan ng Diyos ay napapatunayang tama sa pamamagitan ng mga gawa nito.”
Babala sa mga Bayang Ayaw Magsisi(F)
20 Pagkatapos, sinumbatan ni Jesus ang mga bayang nakasaksi sa maraming himalang ginawa niya roon sapagkat hindi sila nagsisi't tumalikod sa kanilang mga kasalanan. Sinabi niya, 21 “Kawawa(G) kayo, mga taga-Corazin! Kawawa kayo, mga taga-Bethsaida! Sapagkat kung sa Tiro at Sidon ginawa ang mga himalang ginawa sa inyo, matagal na sanang nagdamit ng sako at naupo sa abo ang mga tagaroon bilang tanda ng kanilang pagsisisi. 22 Ngunit sinasabi ko sa inyo, sa Araw ng Paghuhukom ay mas kahahabagan pa ang mga taga-Tiro at taga-Sidon kaysa inyo. 23 At(H) kayong mga taga-Capernaum, nais pala ninyong itaas ang inyong sarili hanggang langit? Ibabagsak kayo[e] hanggang sa daigdig ng mga patay! Sapagkat kung sa Sodoma ginawa ang mga himalang ginawa sa inyo, sana'y nananatili pa ang bayang iyon magpahanggang ngayon. 24 Ngunit(I) sinasabi ko sa inyo, mas kahahabagan pa ang mga taga-Sodoma kaysa inyo sa Araw ng Paghuhukom!”

25 Nang panahong iyo'y sinabi ni Jesus, “Ama, Panginoon ng langit at lupa, salamat sa iyo, sapagkat inilihim mo ang mga bagay na ito sa marurunong at matatalino, at inihayag mo naman sa mga may kaloobang tulad ng sa bata. 26 Oo, Ama, sapagkat ganoon ang nais mo.
27 “Ibinigay(K) na sa akin ng aking Ama ang lahat ng bagay. Walang nakakakilala sa Anak kundi ang Ama, at walang nakakakilala sa Ama kundi ang Anak at ang mga pinili ng Anak na pagpahayagan niya.
28 “Lumapit(L) kayo sa akin, kayong lahat na nahihirapan at lubhang nabibigatan sa inyong pasanin, at kayo'y bibigyan ko ng kapahingahan. 29 Pasanin(M) ninyo ang aking pamatok at matuto kayo sa akin sapagkat ako'y maamo at may mababang loob. Makakatagpo kayo sa akin ng kapahingahan 30 sapagkat madaling dalhin ang aking pamatok at magaan ang pasaning ibibigay ko sa inyo.”

Ang mga Sinugo ni Juan na Tagapagbautismo(A)
11 Matapos pagbilinan ni Jesus ang kanyang labindalawang alagad, nilisan niya ang lugar na iyon upang magturo at mangaral sa kanilang mga bayan. 2 Nang mabalitaan ni Juan, na noon ay nasa bilangguan, ang tungkol sa mga gawa ng Cristo, nagsugo siya ng kanyang mga alagad, 3 at ipinatanong, “Ikaw na ba ang darating, o maghihintay pa kami ng iba?” 4 Sumagot si Jesus sa kanila, “Pagbalik ninyo kay Juan ay sabihin ninyo sa kanya ang inyong mga naririnig at nakikita. 5 Nakakikita ang mga bulag, nakalalakad ang mga paralitiko, nagiging malinis ang mga ketongin, nakaririnig ang mga bingi, binubuhay ang mga patay, at ipinapangaral sa mga dukha ang Magandang Balita. 6 Pinagpala ang sinumang hindi natitisod dahil sa akin.” 7 Habang sila'y umaalis, nagsimulang magsalita si Jesus sa napakaraming tao tungkol kay Juan: “Ano ang pinuntahan ninyo sa ilang upang inyong makita? Isa bang tambo na inuuga ng hangin? 8 Ngunit ano ang pinuntahan ninyo upang makita? Isa bang taong nakasuot ng mga mamahaling damit? "Nasa mga palasyo ng mga hari ang mga nagsusuot ng magagarang kasuotan." 9 At ano nga ba ang pinuntahan ninyo upang makita? Isa bang propeta? Oo, at sinasabi ko sa inyo, higit pa sa isang propeta. 10 Siya ang tinutukoy ng nasusulat,
‘Tingnan ninyo, isinusugo ko ang aking sugo, na mauuna sa iyo,
na maghahanda ng iyong daraanan.’
11 Tinitiyak ko sa inyo, sa mga isinilang ng mga babae ay wala pang lumitaw na mas dakila kay Juan na Tagapagbautismo. Gayunman, ang pinakahamak sa kaharian ng langit ay mas dakila kaysa kanya. 12 Mula pa sa kapanahunan ni Juan na Tagapagbautismo hanggang ngayon, ang kaharian ng langit ay dumaranas ng karahasan at sapilitang kinukuha ng mga taong marahas. 13 Sapagkat ang lahat ng mga propeta at ang Kautusan ay nagsalita ng propesiya hanggang kay Juan, 14 at kung nais ninyong tanggapin, siya ay si Elias na darating. 15 Makinig ang mga may pandinig!
16 “At sa ano ko naman ihahambing ang mga tao sa panahong ito? Ang katulad nila'y mga batang nakaupo sa mga palengke at tumatawag sa kanilang mga kalaro,
17 ‘Tumugtog kami ng plauta para sa inyo, ngunit hindi naman kayo sumayaw;
umawit kami ng himig pagluluksa, ngunit hindi naman kayo umiyak.’
18 Sapagkat naparito si Juan na hindi kumakain ni umiinom, ngunit sinasabi nila, ‘Sinasaniban siya ng demonyo.’ 19 Naparito ang Anak ng Tao na kumakain at umiinom, at sinasabi nila, ‘Tingnan ninyo siya! Matakaw at manginginom, kaibigan ng mga maniningil ng buwis at ng mga makasalanan!’ Subalit ang karunungan ay pinatutunayang tama sa pamamagitan ng kanyang mga gawa.”
Babala sa mga Lungsod na Di-nagsisi(B)
20 Pagkatapos nito'y sinimulan niyang sumbatan ang mga lungsod na ginawan niya ng karamihan sa kanyang mga himala, sapagkat hindi nagsisi ang mga tao roon. 21 “Kaysaklap ng sasapitin mo, Corazin! Kaysaklap ng sasapitin mo, Bethsaida! Sapagkat kung sa Tiro at Sidon ginawa ang mga himalang ginawa sa inyo, matagal na sana silang nagsisi na nakasuot ng damit-sako at may abo sa ulo. 22 Ngunit sinasabi ko sa inyo, mas kahahabagan pa sa araw ng paghuhukom ang Tiro at Sidon kaysa sa inyo. 23 At ikaw Capernaum, sa akala mo ba'y itataas ka sa langit? Ibababa ka sa daigdig ng mga patay.[a] Sapagkat kung sa Sodoma ginawa ang mga himalang ginawa sa iyo, nakatayo pa sana hanggang ngayon ang bayang iyon. 24 Ngunit sinasabi ko sa inyo, mas kahahabagan pa sa araw ng paghuhukom ang lupain ng Sodoma kaysa sa inyo.”

25 Nang sandaling iyon ay sinabi ni Jesus, “Salamat sa iyo, Ama, Panginoon ng langit at ng lupa, dahil inilihim mo ang mga bagay na ito sa marurunong at may pinag-aralan, ngunit ipinaalam mo sa mga musmos. 26 Oo, Ama, sapagkat kalugud-lugod iyon sa iyong paningin. 27 Lahat ng mga bagay ay ipinagkatiwala sa akin ng aking Ama. Walang nakakakilala sa Anak maliban sa Ama at walang nakakakilala sa Ama maliban sa Anak at sa sinumang piliin ng Anak na pagpahayagan niya. 28 Lumapit kayo sa akin, kayong lahat na napapagod at may mabigat na pasanin, at bibigyan ko kayo ng kapahingahan. 29 Ang aking pamatok ay inyong pasanin, at kayo'y matuto sa akin, sapagkat ako'y maamo at may mapagpakumbabang puso, at matatagpuan ninyo ang kapahingahan para sa inyong mga kaluluwa. 30 Sapagkat ang aking pamatok ay madaling dalhin, at magaan ang aking pasanin.”

2 Or, dans sa prison, Jean[a] avait entendu parler de ce que faisait Christ. Il envoya deux de ses disciples lui demander: 3 «Es-tu celui qui doit venir ou devons-nous en attendre un autre?» 4 Jésus leur répondit: «Allez rapporter à Jean ce que vous entendez et ce que vous voyez: 5 les aveugles voient, les boiteux marchent, les lépreux sont purifiés, les sourds entendent, les morts ressuscitent et la bonne nouvelle est annoncée aux pauvres[b]. 6 Heureux celui pour qui je ne représenterai pas un obstacle!»
7 Comme ils s'en allaient, Jésus se mit à dire à la foule au sujet de Jean: «Qu'êtes-vous allés voir au désert? Un roseau agité par le vent? 8 Mais qu'êtes-vous allés voir? Un homme habillé de [tenues] élégantes? Ceux qui portent des tenues élégantes sont dans les maisons des rois. 9 Qu'êtes-vous donc allés voir? Un prophète? Oui, je vous le dis, et plus qu'un prophète, 10 [car] c'est celui à propos duquel il est écrit: Voici, j'envoie mon messager devant toi pour te préparer le chemin.[c]
11 »Je vous le dis en vérité, parmi ceux qui sont nés de femmes, il n'est venu personne de plus grand que Jean-Baptiste. Cependant, le plus petit dans le royaume des cieux est plus grand que lui. 12 Depuis l’époque de Jean-Baptiste jusqu'à présent, le royaume des cieux est assailli avec force, et des violents s'en emparent. 13 En effet, tous les prophètes et la loi ont prophétisé jusqu'à Jean. 14 Si vous voulez bien l’accepter, c'est lui l'Elie qui devait venir[d]. 15 Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre entende.
16 »A qui comparerai-je cette génération? Elle ressemble à des enfants assis sur des places publiques et qui s'adressent à d'autres enfants 17 en disant: ‘Nous vous avons joué de la flûte et vous n'avez pas dansé, nous [vous] avons entonné des chants funèbres et vous ne vous êtes pas lamentés.’ 18 En effet, Jean est venu, il ne mange pas et ne boit pas, et l'on dit: ‘Il a un démon.’ 19 Le Fils de l'homme est venu, il mange et il boit, et l'on dit: ‘C'est un glouton et un buveur, un ami des collecteurs d’impôts et des pécheurs.’ Mais la sagesse a été reconnue juste par ses enfants.»
20 Alors Jésus se mit à faire des reproches aux villes dans lesquelles avaient eu lieu la plupart de ses miracles, parce qu'elles n'avaient pas changé d’attitude: 21 «Malheur à toi, Chorazin, malheur à toi, Bethsaïda, car si les miracles accomplis au milieu de vous l'avaient été dans Tyr et dans Sidon, il y a longtemps que leurs habitants se seraient repentis[e], habillés d’un sac et assis dans la cendre[f]. 22 C'est pourquoi je vous le dis: le jour du jugement, Tyr et Sidon seront traitées moins sévèrement que vous. 23 Et toi, Capernaüm, seras-tu élevée jusqu'au ciel? Non. Tu seras abaissée jusqu'au séjour des morts, car si les miracles accomplis au milieu de toi l'avaient été dans Sodome, elle subsisterait encore aujourd'hui. 24 C'est pourquoi je vous le dis: le jour du jugement, le pays de Sodome sera traité moins sévèrement que toi.»
25 A ce moment-là, Jésus prit la parole et dit: «Je te suis reconnaissant, Père, Seigneur du ciel et de la terre, de ce que tu as caché ces choses aux sages et aux intelligents et les as révélées aux enfants. 26 Oui, Père, je te suis reconnaissant car c’est ce que tu as voulu. 27 Mon Père m’a tout donné, et personne ne connaît le Fils, si ce n'est le Père; personne non plus ne connaît le Père, si ce n'est le Fils et celui à qui le Fils veut le révéler.
28 »Venez à moi, vous tous qui êtes fatigués et courbés sous un fardeau, et je vous donnerai du repos. 29 Acceptez mes exigences et laissez-vous instruire par moi, car je suis doux et humble de cœur, et vous trouverez le repos pour votre âme[g]. 30 En effet, mes exigences sont bonnes et mon fardeau léger.»

Jesus and John the Baptist(A)
11 After Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples,(B) he went on from there to teach and preach in the towns of Galilee.[a]
2 When John,(C) who was in prison,(D) heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples 3 to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come,(E) or should we expect someone else?”
4 Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: 5 The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy[b] are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.(F) 6 Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.”(G)
7 As John’s(H) disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: “What did you go out into the wilderness(I) to see? A reed swayed by the wind? 8 If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine clothes are in kings’ palaces. 9 Then what did you go out to see? A prophet?(J) Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. 10 This is the one about whom it is written:
11 Truly I tell you, among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet whoever is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence,[d] and violent people have been raiding it. 13 For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John.(M) 14 And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come.(N) 15 Whoever has ears, let them hear.(O)
16 “To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:
17 “‘We played the pipe for you,
and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge,
and you did not mourn.’
18 For John came neither eating(P) nor drinking,(Q) and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ 19 The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’(R) But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.”
Woe on Unrepentant Towns(S)
20 Then Jesus began to denounce the towns in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent. 21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!(T) For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon,(U) they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.(V) 22 But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.(W) 23 And you, Capernaum,(X) will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades.[e](Y) For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day. 24 But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”(Z)
The Father Revealed in the Son(AA)
25 At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father,(AB) Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.(AC) 26 Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
27 “All things have been committed to me(AD) by my Father.(AE) No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.(AF)
28 “Come to me,(AG) all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.(AH) 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,(AI) for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.(AJ) 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”(AK)

4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:
5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?
8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.
9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.
10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.
15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
16 But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,
17 And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:
21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.
23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.
27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
