Jezus geneest een verlamde man
2 Na een paar dagen kwam Jezus weer in Kapernaüm terug. De mensen hoorden dat Hij weer thuis was. 2 Toen kwamen er zoveel mensen naar Hem toe, dat het zelfs buiten voor de deur helemaal vol stond. En Hij vertelde hun het goede nieuws.
3 Een paar mannen kwamen met een verlamde vriend naar Jezus. Hij werd door vier mannen gedragen. 4 Maar er waren zoveel mensen, dat ze hem niet bij Jezus konden brengen. Daarom maakten ze het dak open boven de plek waar Jezus stond. Daarna lieten ze de man op de matras door het gat naar beneden zakken. 5 Toen Jezus hun geloof zag, zei Hij tegen de verlamde man: "Zoon, Ik vergeef je al je ongehoorzaamheid aan God." 6 Er zaten daar ook een paar wetgeleerden.[a] Ze dachten bij zichzelf: 7 "Hoe kan Hij dat zeggen? Daarmee beledigt Hij God! Alleen God kan mensen vergeven dat ze ongehoorzaam aan Hem zijn geweest!" 8 Maar Jezus wist wat ze dachten. Hij zei tegen hen: "Waarom denken jullie dat? 9 Wat is gemakkelijker om te zeggen: 'Ik vergeef je al je ongehoorzaamheid aan God,' of: 'Pak je matras op en loop'? 10 Maar Ik wil dat jullie weten dat de Mensenzoon hier op aarde de macht heeft om de mensen te vergeven dat ze ongehoorzaam aan God zijn geweest." En Hij zei tegen de verlamde man: 11 "Daarom zeg Ik je: sta op, pak je matras op en ga naar huis." 12 De man stond onmiddellijk op. Hij pakte zijn matras op en ging naar huis. Iedereen zag het gebeuren. Ze waren stomverbaasd. Ze prezen God en zeiden: "Zoiets hebben we nog nooit gezien!"
Jezus roept Levi
13 Jezus ging weer naar buiten en liep langs het meer. De hele groep mensen kwam met Hem mee en Hij gaf hun les. 14 Toen Hij langs het kantoortje van de belasting-ontvanger liep, zag Hij Levi (= Matteüs), de zoon van Alfeüs zitten. Hij zei tegen hem: "Volg Mij." En Levi stond op en volgde Hem.
15 Toen Hij op een keer bij Levi thuis zat te eten, zaten er ook veel belasting-ontvangers en andere slechte mensen[b] bij Jezus en de leerlingen aan tafel. Het was een grote groep van mensen die Jezus waren gevolgd. 16 De wetgeleerden en de Farizeeërs[c] zagen Hem met die mensen eten. En ze zeiden tegen zijn leerlingen: "Waarom eet Hij met slechte mensen?" 17 Jezus hoorde het en antwoordde: "Gezonde mensen hebben geen dokter nodig, maar zieke mensen wél. Ik ben niet gekomen om goede mensen te roepen, maar om slechte mensen te zeggen dat ze moeten gaan leven zoals God het wil."
Oude gewoonten en nieuwe dingen
18 De leerlingen van Johannes en van de Farizeeërs hadden de gewoonte om op bepaalde dagen het eten over te slaan.[d] En de mensen kwamen aan Jezus vragen: "De leerlingen van Johannes en van de Farizeeërs slaan op bepaalde dagen het eten over. Waarom doen úw leerlingen dat niet?" 19 Jezus zei tegen hen: "Hoe kunnen de gasten op een bruiloft niets eten? Ze zijn gekomen om met de bruidegom feest te vieren. Zolang de bruidegom bij hen is, eten ze mee van de feestmaaltijd. 20 Maar er zal een tijd komen dat de Bruidegom niet meer bij hen is. Dán zullen ze niets eten.
21 Hij vertelde hun een voorbeeld om het uit te leggen: Niemand repareert een oud kledingstuk met een nieuwe lap. Want de nieuwe lap zal krimpen en zo een stuk van de oude stof afscheuren. Dan wordt de scheur alleen maar groter. 22 En niemand doet nieuwe wijn in oude wijnzakken. Want door het gisten van de wijn zullen de wijnzakken barsten. Dan loopt de wijn weg en de zakken zijn kapot. Maar nieuwe wijn moet je in nieuwe wijnzakken doen."
Graan plukken op de heilige rustdag
23 Op een keer liep Jezus op de heilige rustdag door een korenveld. Zijn leerlingen begonnen graan te plukken. 24 Toen zeiden de Farizeeërs tegen Hem: "Waarom doen zij iets wat niet mag op de heilige rustdag?"[e] 25 Jezus antwoordde: "Hebben jullie nooit gelezen wat David deed toen hij en zijn mannen honger hadden? 26 Dat was in de tijd dat Abjatar hogepriester was. David ging Gods heiligdom binnen, nam de heilige broden mee en at ze op. Dat mocht helemaal niet, want daar mogen alleen de priesters van eten. Ook deelde hij van dat brood uit aan zijn mannen." 27 En Hij zei: "De heilige rustdag is gemaakt voor de mensen. Niet andersom: de mensen zijn niet gemaakt voor de heilige rustdag. 28 Dus is de Mensenzoon ook Heer over de heilige rustdag."

- Markus 2:6 De wetgeleerden bestudeerden de wet van God en leerden die aan de mensen.
- Markus 2:15 Belastingontvangers hoorden bij de 'slechte mensen' en werden door de Joden gehaat. Want het waren Joden die voor de Romeinen belasting ophaalden. Ze werkten dus voor de vijand. Maar ook werden ze gehaat omdat ze over het algemeen veel meer belasting vroegen dan waar ze recht op hadden. Daar werden ze zelf rijk van. Lees Lukas 3:12 en 13 en Lukas 19:1-10.
- Markus 2:16 De wetgeleerden bestudeerden de wet van God en leerden die aan de mensen. De Farizeeërs waren mensen die probeerden om zich zo precies mogelijk aan de wet van God te houden. Ze hadden een heel uitgebreid systeem van regels opgebouwd over hoe de wet van God in het dagelijks leven toegepast zou moeten worden. Ze waren zelfs nog preciezer dan nodig was, want ze hielden zich ook aan de strengere regels die alleen voor de priesters golden. Ze vonden zichzelf veel beter dan het 'gewone volk' dat zich minder met de wet bezighield. Ze hielden zich daarvan op een afstand, omdat ze vonden dat ze 'onrein' werden van die mensen.
- Markus 2:18 Dat werd gedaan als teken van verdriet, of als teken van spijt over de verkeerde dingen die ze gedaan hadden.
- Markus 2:24 Ze vonden dat dat 'werken' was, en God had gezegd dat er op de heilige rustdag helemaal niet gewerkt mocht worden. Lees Exodus 20:8-11. De Farizeeërs hadden heel strenge regels gemaakt over wat er wel en niet mocht op die dag.

2 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.
3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
6 But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?
9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.
12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.
13 And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.
14 And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.
15 And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.
16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?
17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
18 And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?
19 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.
20 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.
21 No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment: else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.
22 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.
23 And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.
24 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?
25 And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?
26 How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?
27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

Jesus Heals a Paralytic
2 And when he returned to (A)Capernaum after some days, it was reported that he was at home. 2 And many were gathered together, so that there was no more room, not even at the door. And he was preaching the word to them. 3 (B)And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. 4 And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, (C)they removed the roof above him, and when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay. 5 And when Jesus (D)saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, (E)your sins are forgiven.” 6 Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts, 7 “Why does this man speak like that? (F)He is blaspheming! (G)Who can forgive sins but God alone?” 8 And immediately Jesus, (H)perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, “Why do you question these things in your hearts? 9 Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise, take up your bed and walk’? 10 But that you may know that (I)the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he said to the paralytic— 11 “I say to you, rise, pick up your bed, and go home.” 12 And he rose and immediately picked up his bed and went out before them all, so that they were all amazed and (J)glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!”
Jesus Calls Levi
13 He went out again beside the sea, and (K)all the crowd was coming to him, and he was teaching them. 14 (L)And as he passed by, he saw (M)Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him.
15 And as he reclined at table in his house, many (N)tax collectors and sinners were reclining with Jesus and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 And (O)the scribes of[a] the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, (P)“Why does he eat[b] with tax collectors and sinners?” 17 And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. (Q)I came not to call the righteous, (R)but sinners.”
A Question About Fasting
18 Now (S)John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. And people came and said to him, (T)“Why do John's disciples and (U)the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?” 19 And Jesus said to them, (V)“Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. 20 (W)The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and (X)then they will fast in that day. 21 No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. 22 And no one puts new wine into old (Y)wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins—and the wine is destroyed, and so are the skins. But new wine is for fresh wineskins.”[c]
Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath
23 (Z)One Sabbath he was going through the grainfields, and as they made their way, his disciples (AA)began to pluck heads of grain. 24 And the Pharisees were saying to him, “Look, (AB)why are they doing (AC)what is not lawful on the Sabbath?” 25 And he said to them, (AD)“Have you never read (AE)what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were with him: 26 how he entered the house of God, in the time of[d] (AF)Abiathar the high priest, and ate (AG)the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those who were with him?” 27 And he said to them, (AH)“The Sabbath was made for man, (AI)not man for the Sabbath. 28 So (AJ)the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”

2 过了些日子，耶稣回到迦百农。耶稣回家的消息也随之传开了。 2 很多人来见耶稣，房子挤得满满的，甚至连门外都没空地，耶稣开始教导人们。 3 此时，有四个人抬着抬着一个瘫痪病人来到他那里。 4 因为屋子里挤满了人，他们无法把瘫痪病人抬到耶稣身边， 只好把耶稣上方的房顶拆开一个洞，把瘫痪病人躺着的垫子从洞口缒下来。 5 耶稣看到他们有如此的信仰，便对瘫痪病人说∶“年轻人，你的罪孽被宽恕了。”
6 一些律法师坐在那里，心想： 7 “这个人怎么竟然这样讲话呢？他在亵渎上帝！除了上帝，谁又能宽恕罪孽呢？”
8 耶稣立刻看出这些人的心思，便对他们说∶“你们为什么心怀这些疑问呢？ 9 两者相比，哪个更容易呢？是对这个瘫痪病人说‘你的罪被宽恕了，’容易，还是说：‘站起来！拿着铺盖走吧，’容易呢？ 10 我要向你们证实，人子在世间有宽恕罪孽的权力。”然后对瘫痪病人说： 11 “我吩咐你站起来！拿上你的铺盖，走回家去吧。” 12 瘫痪病人就站了起来，立即拿起铺盖，在众目睽睽之下走出了屋子。人们对此都惊讶极了，赞美上帝说∶“我们从来没有见过这样的稀罕事。”
利未（马太）跟随耶稣
13 耶稣又来到加利利湖边。许多人跟随他到了那里，耶稣便教导他们。 14 耶稣在湖边行走时，看见亚勒腓的儿子利未正坐在收税的地方，耶稣对利未说∶“跟随我！”利未便起身跟随了耶稣。
15 当天晚些时候，耶稣和门徒们到利未家吃饭。有许多税吏和名声不好的人也成为耶稣的门徒，所以他们当中的许多人也在那里与他们一起吃饭。 16 一些法利赛人的律法师看到耶稣和这些人一起吃饭，就问他的门徒∶“他为什么与税吏和罪人一起吃饭？”
17 耶稣听见了，就对律法师们说∶“健康人不需要医生，需要医生的是那些有病的人。我不是来召唤正直人的，而是来召唤罪人的。”
耶稣不像其他的宗教领袖
18 这时正赶上约翰的门徒和法利赛人在禁食，一些人来问耶稣说∶“为什么约翰的门徒和法利赛人的门徒禁食，而您的门徒却不禁食？”
19 耶稣回答说∶“在婚礼上，当新郎和朋友在一起时，他的朋友们不悲伤。当新郎在场时，他们也不可能禁食。 20 但是，新郎迟早要离开他们的，那时他们会感到悲伤而禁食。
21 “没有人会用没有缩过水的新布去补旧衣服，因为补钉一缩水，会把原来的破洞扯得更大了。 22 谁也不会把新酒装进旧酒囊里，否则，新酒会撑破旧酒囊，结果酒和酒囊两样东西都被毁了。你们总是把新酒装到新酒囊里。”
耶稣是安息日的主
23 在一个安息日里，耶稣和门徒经过一片庄稼地，他的门徒边走边摘麦穗吃。 24 法利赛人看见了，就对耶稣说∶“瞧，他们为什么在安息日里做违法的事情呢？”
25 耶稣说∶“难道你们不曾在书上读到过大卫 [a]和他的手下人在饥饿和缺乏的时候是怎样做的吗？ 26 那还是在亚比亚他当大祭司的时候，大卫就到上帝的大殿里吃了献给上帝的贡饼。摩西律法说，除了祭司之外，别人吃这些东西是不合法的。大卫还是拿了一些分给了手下的人。”
27 然后，耶稣对法利赛人说∶“安息日是为人设立的，而人却不是为了安息日而造的。 28 所以，人子才是每一天的主，甚至也是安息日的主。”
