Jesus Transfigured on the Mount

^2 (A)Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them.

^28 (B)Now it came to pass, about eight days after these sayings, that He took Peter, John, and James and went up on the mountain to pray. ²⁹ As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening. ³⁰ And behold, two men talked with Him, who were ^(C)Moses and ^(D)Elijah, ³¹ who appeared in glory and spoke of His ^[a]decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. ³² But Peter and those with him ^(E)were heavy with sleep; and when they were fully awake, they saw His glory and the two men who stood with Him. ³³ Then it happened, as they were parting from Him, that Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three ^[b]tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said.

³⁴ While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were fearful as they entered the ^(F)cloud. ³⁵ And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, ^(G)“This is ^[c]My beloved Son. ^(H)Hear Him!” ³⁶ When the voice had ceased, Jesus was found alone. ^(I)But they kept quiet, and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen.

17 Now ^(B)after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; ² and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. ³ And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. ⁴ Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, ^[a]let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

^5 (C)While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, ^(D)“This is My beloved Son, ^(E)in whom I am well pleased. ^(F)Hear Him!” ^6 (G)And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid. ⁷ But Jesus came and ^(H)touched them and said, “Arise, and do not be afraid.” ⁸ When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.

The Land of the Majestic King

³⁷ And He permitted no one to follow Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.

³³ And He ^(A)took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed.

The Great White Throne Judgment

¹¹ Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face ^(A)the earth and the heaven fled away. ^(B)And there was found no place for them.

¹³ So Moses arose with ^(A)his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up to the mountain of God.

^13 (A)and in the midst of the seven lampstands ^(B)One like the Son of Man, ^(C)clothed with a garment down to the feet and ^(D)girded about the chest with a golden band. ¹⁴ His head and ^(E)hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and ^(F)His eyes like a flame of fire; ^15 (G)His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and ^(H)His voice as the sound of many waters; ^16 (I)He had in His right hand seven stars, ^(J)out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, ^(K)and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength. ¹⁷ And ^(L)when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But ^(M)He laid His right hand on me, saying ^[a]to me, “Do not be afraid; ^(N)I am the First and the Last.
