⁴⁰ And they laughed at him. But he ^(A)put them all outside and took the child's father and mother and those who were with him and went in where the child was.

¹⁹ But when Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite servant and ^(A)Geshem the Arab heard of it, ^(B)they jeered at us and despised us and said, “What is this thing that you are doing? ^(C)Are you rebelling against the king?”

³³ So he went in and ^(A)shut the door behind the two of them ^(B)and prayed to the Lord.

³² Now when they heard of ^(A)the resurrection of the dead, ^(B)some mocked. But others said, ^(C)“We will hear you again about this.”

The Law and the Kingdom of God

^14 (A)The Pharisees, who were ^(B)lovers of money, heard all these things, and they ^(C)ridiculed him.

⁵³ And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. ⁵⁴ But ^(A)taking her by the hand he called, saying, “Child, ^(B)arise.”

²⁴ he said, “Go away, for ^(A)the girl is not dead but ^(B)sleeping.” And they laughed at him. ²⁵ But ^(C)when the crowd had been put outside, he went in and ^(D)took her by the hand, and the girl arose.

^6 (A)“Do not give ^(B)dogs what is holy, and do not throw your ^(C)pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.
