¹⁷ And they have no root in themselves, but ^(A)endure for a while; then, when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately ^(B)they fall away.^[a]

⁶ And blessed is the one who ^(A)is not offended by me.”

³ that no one be moved by these afflictions. For you yourselves know that ^(A)we are destined for this. ⁴ For when we were with you, we kept telling you beforehand that we were to suffer affliction, ^(B)just as it has come to pass, and just as you know. ⁵ For this reason, ^(C)when I could bear it no longer, ^(D)I sent to learn about your faith, ^(E)for fear that somehow ^(F)the tempter had tempted you and ^(G)our labor would be in vain.

¹⁰ Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, ^(A)that you may be tested, and for ^(B)ten days ^(C)you will have tribulation. ^(D)Be faithful ^(E)unto death, and I will give you ^(F)the crown of life.

^31 (A)Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but ^(B)the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.

¹³ “‘I know where you dwell, ^(A)where Satan's throne is. Yet you hold fast my name, and you did not ^(B)deny my faith^[a] even in the days of Antipas ^(C)my faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.

^19 (A)They went out from us, but they were not of us; for ^(B)if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, ^(C)that it might become plain that they all are not of us.

²⁹ How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one ^(A)who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned ^(B)the blood of the covenant ^(C)by which he was sanctified, and has ^(D)outraged the Spirit of grace?

¹⁶ At my first defense no one came to stand by me, but all deserted me. ^(A)May it not be charged against them!
