The Great Commission

¹⁴ Afterward ^(A)he appeared ^(B)to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their ^(C)unbelief and ^(D)hardness of heart, because ^(E)they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen.

⁵ and that ^(A)he appeared to Cephas, then ^(B)to the twelve.

Jesus Appears to His Disciples

³⁶ As they were talking about these things, ^(A)Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!” ³⁷ But they were ^(B)startled and ^(C)frightened and ^(D)thought they saw a spirit. ³⁸ And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? ³⁹ See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. ^(E)Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” ⁴⁰ And when he had said this, ^(F)he showed them his hands and his feet. ⁴¹ And while they still disbelieved ^(G)for joy and were marveling, ^(H)he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” ⁴² They gave him a piece of broiled fish,^{[a] 43} and he took it and ate before them.

A Rest for the People of God

⁷ Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says,

^19 (A)Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.

²⁷ Then he said to Thomas, ^(A)“Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.”

¹¹ But when they heard that he was alive and had been seen by her, they ^(A)would not believe it.

Jesus Appears to Two Disciples

^12 (B)After these things ^(C)he appeared in ^(D)another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country. ^13 (E)And they went back and told the rest, but they did not believe them.

¹⁷ And ^(A)Jesus, aware of this, said to them, “Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread? ^(B)Do you not yet perceive ^(C)or understand? ^(D)Are your hearts hardened? ^18 (E)Having eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember?
