^22 (A)For false christs and false prophets will arise and ^(B)perform signs and wonders, ^(C)to lead astray, if possible, ^(D)the elect.

²⁴ For ^(A)false christs and ^(B)false prophets will arise and ^(C)perform great signs and wonders, ^(D)so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.

^13 (A)It performs great signs, even ^(B)making fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people, ¹⁴ and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of^[a] the beast ^(C)it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast ^(D)that was wounded by the sword and yet lived.

⁸ And then ^(A)the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus ^(B)will kill with ^(C)the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by ^(D)the appearance of his coming. ⁹ The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan ^(E)with all power and false signs and wonders, ¹⁰ and with all wicked deception for ^(F)those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. ¹¹ Therefore ^(G)God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe ^(H)what is false, ¹² in order that all may be condemned ^(I)who did not believe the truth but ^(J)had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Stand Firm

¹³ But ^(K)we ought always to give thanks to God for you, ^(L)brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you ^(M)as the firstfruits^{[a] (N)}to be saved, ^(O)through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. ¹⁴ To this he called you through ^(P)our gospel, ^(Q)so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

^27 (A)My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. ^28 (B)I give them eternal life, and ^(C)they will never perish, and ^(D)no one will snatch them out of my hand.

⁴⁸ So Jesus said to him, ^(A)“Unless you^[a] see signs and wonders you will not believe.”

^6 (A)Many will come in my name, saying, ^(B)‘I am he!’ and they will lead many astray.

A Tree and Its Fruit

^15 (A)“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ^(B)ravenous wolves.

⁸ The beast that you saw ^(A)was, and is not, and ^(B)is about to rise from ^(C)the bottomless pit^[a] and ^(D)go to destruction. And ^(E)the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in ^(F)the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because ^(G)it was and is not and is to come.
