⁴⁵ But he went out and began to proclaim it freely and to spread the word, so that Jesus^[a] could no longer go into a town openly but stayed out in the country, and people came to him from every quarter.^(A)

¹³ Jesus^[a] went out again beside the sea; the whole crowd gathered around him, and he taught them.^(A)

² A large crowd kept following him because they saw the signs that he was doing for the sick.

³¹ But they went away and spread the news about him through all of that district.^(A)

¹⁵ But now more than ever the word about Jesus^[a] spread abroad; many crowds were gathering to hear him and to be cured of their diseases.^{(A) 16} Meanwhile, he would slip away to deserted places and pray.^(B)

¹⁷ One day while he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law who had come from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem were sitting nearby, and the power of the Lord was with him to heal.^[b](C)

⁷ Jesus departed with his disciples to the sea, and a great multitude from Galilee followed him;^(A)

2 When he returned to Capernaum after some days, it was reported that he was at home. ² So many gathered around that there was no longer room for them, not even in front of the door, and he was speaking the word to them.^(A)

¹⁵ So they took the money and did as they were directed. And this story is still told among the Judeans to this day.
