42 (A)And when evening had already come, because it was [a](B)Preparation day, that is, the day before the Sabbath, 43 Joseph of Arimathea came, a (C)prominent [b]Council member, who himself was (D)waiting for the kingdom of God; and he (E)gathered up courage and went in before Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. 44 And Pilate wondered if He had died by this time, and summoning the centurion, he questioned him as to whether He already died.

The Burial of Jesus(A)
42 It was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath).(B) So as evening approached, 43 Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council,(C) who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God,(D) went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. 44 Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead. Summoning the centurion, he asked him if Jesus had already died.
