Mark 12:9
New International Version
9 “What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others.
Romans 10:20-11:12
English Standard Version
20 Then Isaiah is so bold as to say,
(A)“I have been found by those who did not seek me;
I have shown myself to those who did not ask for me.”
21 But of Israel he says, (B)“All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and contrary people.”
The Remnant of Israel
11 I ask, then, (C)has God rejected his people? By no means! For (D)I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham,[a] a member of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 (E)God has not rejected his people whom he (F)foreknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel? 3 (G)“Lord, they have killed your prophets, they have demolished your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life.” 4 But what is God's reply to him? (H)“I have kept for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” 5 So too at the present time there is (I)a remnant, chosen by grace. 6 (J)But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.
7 What then? (K)Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest (L)were hardened, 8 as it is written,
(M)“God gave them a spirit of stupor,
(N)eyes that would not see
and ears that would not hear,
down to this very day.”
9 And David says,
(O)“Let their table become a snare and a trap,
a stumbling block and a retribution for them;
10 let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see,
and bend their backs forever.”
Gentiles Grafted In
11 So I ask, did they stumble in order that they might fall? By no means! Rather, through their trespass (P)salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous. 12 Now if their trespass means riches for the world, and if their failure means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full inclusion[b] mean!

The Remnant of Israel
11 I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means!(C) I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham,(D) from the tribe of Benjamin.(E) 2 God did not reject his people,(F) whom he foreknew.(G) Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah—how he appealed to God against Israel: 3 “Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”[c]?(H) 4 And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”[d](I) 5 So too, at the present time there is a remnant(J) chosen by grace.(K) 6 And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works;(L) if it were, grace would no longer be grace.
7 What then? What the people of Israel sought so earnestly they did not obtain.(M) The elect among them did, but the others were hardened,(N) 8 as it is written:
“God gave them a spirit of stupor,
eyes that could not see
and ears that could not hear,(O)

10 May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see,(Q)
and their backs be bent forever.”[f](R)

11 Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all!(S) Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles(T) to make Israel envious.(U) 12 But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles,(V) how much greater riches will their full inclusion bring!

Israel's Unbelief
30 What shall we say, then? (A)That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, (B)a righteousness that is by faith; 31 but that Israel (C)who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness[a] (D)did not succeed in reaching that law. 32 Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were based on works. They have stumbled over the (E)stumbling stone, 33 as it is written,
(F)“Behold, I am laying in Zion (G)a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense;
