⁴⁵ Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places.^(A) Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.^(B)

Jesus Calls Levi and Eats With Sinners^(A)

¹³ Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him,^(B) and he began to teach them.

³¹ But they went out and spread the news about him all over that region.^(A)

² and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the signs^(A) he had performed by healing the sick.

¹⁵ Yet the news about him spread all the more,^(A) so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. ¹⁶ But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.^(B)

Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man^(C)

¹⁷ One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law^(D) were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick.^(E)
