Jesus alimenta outra multidão(A)
8 Pouco tempo depois, ajuntou-se outra vez uma grande multidão. Como eles não tinham nada para comer, Jesus chamou os discípulos e disse:
2 — Estou com pena dessa gente porque já faz três dias que eles estão comigo e não têm nada para comer. 3 Se eu os mandar para casa com fome, eles vão cair de fraqueza pelo caminho, pois alguns vieram de longe.
4 Os discípulos perguntaram:
— Como vamos encontrar, neste lugar deserto, comida que dê para toda essa gente?
5 — Quantos pães vocês têm? — perguntou Jesus.
— Sete! — responderam eles.
6 Aí Jesus mandou o povo sentar-se no chão. Depois pegou os sete pães e deu graças a Deus. Então os partiu e os entregou aos discípulos, e eles os distribuíram ao povo. 7 Eles tinham também alguns peixinhos. Jesus deu graças a Deus por eles e mandou que os discípulos os distribuíssem. 8 Todos comeram e ficaram satisfeitos; e os discípulos ainda encheram sete cestos com os pedaços que sobraram. 9 As pessoas que comeram eram mais ou menos quatro mil.
Jesus mandou o povo embora, 10 e, logo depois, subiu no barco com os seus discípulos, e foi para a região de Dalmanuta.
Os fariseus pedem um milagre(B)
11 Alguns fariseus chegaram e começaram a falar com Jesus. Eles queriam conseguir alguma prova contra ele e por isso pediram que ele fizesse um milagre para mostrar que o seu poder vinha mesmo de Deus. 12 Jesus deu um grande suspiro e disse:
— Por que as pessoas de hoje pedem um milagre? Eu afirmo a vocês que isto é verdade: nenhum milagre será feito para estas pessoas.
13 Então Jesus foi embora. Ele subiu no barco e voltou para o lado leste do lago.
O fermento dos fariseus e o fermento de Herodes(C)
14 Os discípulos haviam esquecido de levar pão e só tinham um pão no barco. 15 Jesus chamou a atenção deles, dizendo:
— Fiquem alertas e tomem cuidado com o fermento dos fariseus e com o fermento de Herodes!
16 Aí os discípulos começaram a dizer uns aos outros:
— Ele está dizendo isso porque não temos pão.
17 Jesus ouviu o que eles estavam dizendo e perguntou:
— Por que vocês estão discutindo por não terem pão? Vocês não sabem e não entendem o que eu disse? Por que são tão duros para entender as coisas? 18 Vocês têm olhos e não enxergam? Têm ouvidos e não escutam? Não lembram 19 dos cinco pães que eu parti para cinco mil pessoas? Quantos cestos cheios de pedaços vocês recolheram?
Eles responderam:
— Doze.
20 Jesus perguntou outra vez:
— E, quando eu parti os sete pães para quatro mil pessoas, quantos cestos cheios de pedaços vocês recolheram?
Eles responderam:
— Sete.
21 Então Jesus perguntou:
— Será que vocês ainda não entendem?
Jesus e o cego de Betsaida
22 Depois Jesus e os discípulos chegaram ao povoado de Betsaida. Algumas pessoas trouxeram um cego e pediram a Jesus que tocasse nele. 23 Ele pegou o cego pela mão e o levou para fora do povoado. Então cuspiu, passou a saliva nos olhos do homem, pôs a mão sobre ele e perguntou:
— Você está vendo alguma coisa?
24 O homem olhou e disse:
— Vejo pessoas; elas parecem árvores, mas estão andando.
25 Jesus pôs outra vez as mãos sobre os olhos dele. Dessa vez o cego olhou firme e ficou curado; aí começou a ver tudo muito bem. 26 Em seguida, Jesus mandou o homem para casa e ordenou:
— Não volte para o povoado!
A afirmação de Pedro(D)
27 Depois Jesus e os seus discípulos foram para os povoados que ficam perto de Cesareia de Filipe. No caminho, ele lhes perguntou:
— Quem o povo diz que eu sou?
28 Os discípulos responderam:
— Alguns dizem que o senhor é João Batista; outros, que é Elias; e outros, que é um dos profetas.
29 — E vocês? Quem vocês dizem que eu sou? — perguntou Jesus.
— O senhor é o Messias! — respondeu Pedro.
30 Então Jesus proibiu os discípulos de contarem isso a qualquer pessoa.
Jesus fala da sua morte e da sua ressurreição(E)
31 Jesus começou a ensinar os discípulos, dizendo:
— O Filho do Homem terá de sofrer muito. Ele será rejeitado pelos líderes judeus, pelos chefes dos sacerdotes e pelos mestres da Lei. Será morto e, três dias depois, ressuscitará.
32 Jesus dizia isso com toda a clareza. Então Pedro o levou para um lado e começou a repreendê-lo. 33 Jesus virou-se, olhou para os discípulos e repreendeu Pedro, dizendo:
— Saia da minha frente, Satanás! Você está pensando como um ser humano pensa e não como Deus pensa.
34 Aí Jesus chamou a multidão e os discípulos e disse:
— Se alguém quer ser meu seguidor, que esqueça os seus próprios interesses, esteja pronto para morrer como eu vou morrer e me acompanhe. 35 Pois quem põe os seus próprios interesses em primeiro lugar nunca terá a vida verdadeira; mas quem esquece a si mesmo por minha causa e por causa do evangelho terá a vida verdadeira. 36 O que adianta alguém ganhar o mundo inteiro, mas perder a vida verdadeira? 37 Pois não há nada que poderá pagar para ter de volta essa vida. 38 Portanto, se nesta época de incredulidade e maldade alguém tiver vergonha de mim e dos meus ensinamentos, então o Filho do Homem, quando vier na glória do seu Pai com os santos anjos, também terá vergonha dessa pessoa.

8 В те дни, когда собралось весьма много народа и нечего было им есть, Иисус, призвав учеников Своих, сказал им:
2 жаль Мне народа, что уже три дня находятся при Мне, и нечего им есть.
3 Если неевшими отпущу их в домы их, ослабеют в дороге, ибо некоторые из них пришли издалека.
4 Ученики Его отвечали Ему: откуда мог бы кто [взять] здесь в пустыне хлебов, чтобы накормить их?
5 И спросил их: сколько у вас хлебов? Они сказали: семь.
6 Тогда велел народу возлечь на землю; и, взяв семь хлебов и воздав благодарение, преломил и дал ученикам Своим, чтобы они раздали; и они раздали народу.
7 Было у них и немного рыбок: благословив, Он велел раздать и их.
8 И ели, и насытились; и набрали оставшихся кусков семь корзин.
9 Евших же было около четырех тысяч. И отпустил их.
10 И тотчас войдя в лодку с учениками Своими, прибыл в пределы Далмануфские.
11 Вышли фарисеи, начали с Ним спорить и требовали от Него знамения с неба, искушая Его.
12 И Он, глубоко вздохнув, сказал: для чего род сей требует знамения? Истинно говорю вам, не дастся роду сему знамение.
13 И, оставив их, опять вошел в лодку и отправился на ту сторону.
14 При сем ученики Его забыли взять хлебов и кроме одного хлеба не имели с собою в лодке.
15 А Он заповедал им, говоря: смотрите, берегитесь закваски фарисейской и закваски Иродовой.
16 И, рассуждая между собою, говорили: [это значит], что хлебов нет у нас.
17 Иисус, уразумев, говорит им: что рассуждаете о том, что нет у вас хлебов? Еще ли не понимаете и не разумеете? Еще ли окаменено у вас сердце?
18 Имея очи, не видите? имея уши, не слышите? и не помните?
19 Когда Я пять хлебов преломил для пяти тысяч [человек], сколько полных коробов набрали вы кусков? Говорят Ему: двенадцать.
20 А когда семь для четырех тысяч, сколько корзин набрали вы оставшихся кусков. Сказали: семь.
21 И сказал им: как же не разумеете?
22 Приходит в Вифсаиду; и приводят к Нему слепого и просят, чтобы прикоснулся к нему.
23 Он, взяв слепого за руку, вывел его вон из селения и, плюнув ему на глаза, возложил на него руки и спросил его: видит ли что?
24 Он, взглянув, сказал: вижу проходящих людей, как деревья.
25 Потом опять возложил руки на глаза ему и велел ему взглянуть. И он исцелел и стал видеть все ясно.
26 И послал его домой, сказав: не заходи в селение и не рассказывай никому в селении.
27 И пошел Иисус с учениками Своими в селения Кесарии Филипповой. Дорогою Он спрашивал учеников Своих: за кого почитают Меня люди?
28 Они отвечали: за Иоанна Крестителя; другие же--за Илию; а иные--за одного из пророков.
29 Он говорит им: а вы за кого почитаете Меня? Петр сказал Ему в ответ: Ты Христос.
30 И запретил им, чтобы никому не говорили о Нем.
31 И начал учить их, что Сыну Человеческому много должно пострадать, быть отвержену старейшинами, первосвященниками и книжниками, и быть убиту, и в третий день воскреснуть.
32 И говорил о сем открыто. Но Петр, отозвав Его, начал прекословить Ему.
33 Он же, обратившись и взглянув на учеников Своих, воспретил Петру, сказав: отойди от Меня, сатана, потому что ты думаешь не о том, что Божие, но что человеческое.
34 И, подозвав народ с учениками Своими, сказал им: кто хочет идти за Мною, отвергнись себя, и возьми крест свой, и следуй за Мною.
35 Ибо кто хочет душу свою сберечь, тот потеряет ее, а кто потеряет душу свою ради Меня и Евангелия, тот сбережет ее.
36 Ибо какая польза человеку, если он приобретет весь мир, а душе своей повредит?
37 Или какой выкуп даст человек за душу свою?
38 Ибо кто постыдится Меня и Моих слов в роде сем прелюбодейном и грешном, того постыдится и Сын Человеческий, когда приидет в славе Отца Своего со святыми Ангелами.

Jesus Feeds the Four Thousand(A)(B)(C)
8 During those days another large crowd gathered. Since they had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to him and said, 2 “I have compassion for these people;(D) they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. 3 If I send them home hungry, they will collapse on the way, because some of them have come a long distance.”
4 His disciples answered, “But where in this remote place can anyone get enough bread to feed them?”
5 “How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked.
“Seven,” they replied.
6 He told the crowd to sit down on the ground. When he had taken the seven loaves and given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people, and they did so. 7 They had a few small fish as well; he gave thanks for them also and told the disciples to distribute them.(E) 8 The people ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.(F) 9 About four thousand were present. After he had sent them away, 10 he got into the boat with his disciples and went to the region of Dalmanutha.
11 The Pharisees came and began to question Jesus. To test him, they asked him for a sign from heaven.(G) 12 He sighed deeply(H) and said, “Why does this generation ask for a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to it.” 13 Then he left them, got back into the boat and crossed to the other side.
The Yeast of the Pharisees and Herod
14 The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat. 15 “Be careful,” Jesus warned them. “Watch out for the yeast(I) of the Pharisees(J) and that of Herod.”(K)
16 They discussed this with one another and said, “It is because we have no bread.”
17 Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: “Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened?(L) 18 Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember? 19 When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?”
“Twelve,”(M) they replied.
20 “And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?”
They answered, “Seven.”(N)
21 He said to them, “Do you still not understand?”(O)
Jesus Heals a Blind Man at Bethsaida
22 They came to Bethsaida,(P) and some people brought a blind man(Q) and begged Jesus to touch him. 23 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit(R) on the man’s eyes and put his hands on(S) him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?”
24 He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.”
25 Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. 26 Jesus sent him home, saying, “Don’t even go into[a] the village.”
Peter Declares That Jesus Is the Messiah(T)
27 Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, “Who do people say I am?”
28 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist;(U) others say Elijah;(V) and still others, one of the prophets.”
29 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Peter answered, “You are the Messiah.”(W)
30 Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.(X)
Jesus Predicts His Death(Y)
31 He then began to teach them that the Son of Man(Z) must suffer many things(AA) and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law,(AB) and that he must be killed(AC) and after three days(AD) rise again.(AE) 32 He spoke plainly(AF) about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
33 But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. “Get behind me, Satan!”(AG) he said. “You do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
The Way of the Cross
34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.(AH) 35 For whoever wants to save their life[b] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.(AI) 36 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? 37 Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man(AJ) will be ashamed of them(AK) when he comes(AL) in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
