Lo que realmente ensucia
7 1-4 Los judíos, y en especial los fariseos, siguen la costumbre de sus antepasados, de no comer sin antes lavarse las manos debidamente. Cuando llegan a sus casas después de haber ido al mercado, no comen nada de lo que compran allí sin antes lavarlo bien.[a]
Cierto día, se acercaron a Jesús algunos fariseos y maestros de la Ley que habían venido de Jerusalén. Al ver que los discípulos de Jesús comían sin lavarse las manos,[b] comenzaron a criticarlos. 5 Y le preguntaron a Jesús:
—¿Por qué tus discípulos no siguen las costumbres que desde hace mucho han practicado nuestros antepasados? ¿Por qué comen sin haberse lavado las manos?
6 Jesús les respondió:
—¡Ustedes son unos hipócritas! Dios tenía razón cuando dijo por medio del profeta Isaías:
“Este pueblo dice que me obedece,
pero en verdad nunca piensa en mí.
7 De nada sirve que ustedes me alaben,
pues inventan reglas
y luego las enseñan
diciendo que yo las ordené.”
8 »Ustedes desobedecen los mandamientos de Dios para poder seguir enseñanzas humanas. 9 Han aprendido muy bien la manera de rechazar los mandamientos de Dios para seguir sus propias enseñanzas. 10 Porque Moisés dijo: “Obedezcan y cuiden a su padre y a su madre”. Y también dijo: “El que maldiga a su padre o a su madre tendrá que morir.” 11-12 Sin embargo, ustedes enseñan que un hijo no tiene la obligación de ayudar a sus padres si les dice: “No puedo ayudarlos, porque todo lo que tengo se lo he ofrecido a Dios.”[c] 13 De esa manera, desobedecen los mandamientos de Dios para seguir sus propias enseñanzas. Y hacen muchas otras cosas parecidas a ésta.
14 Luego Jesús llamó a la gente y dijo: «Escúchenme todos, y entiendan bien: 15-16 La comida que entra por su boca no los hace impuros delante de Dios. Lo que los hace impuros son los insultos y malas palabras que salen de su boca.»
17 Cuando Jesús dejó a la gente y entró en la casa, los discípulos le preguntaron qué significaba esa enseñanza. 18 Él les respondió: «¿Tampoco ustedes entienden? Nada de lo que entra en la persona la hace impura delante de Dios. 19 Lo que se come no va a la mente sino al estómago, y después el cuerpo lo expulsa.»
Jesús dijo eso para que supieran que ningún alimento es impuro. 20 Y también dijo:
«Lo que hace impura delante de Dios a la gente, es lo que la gente dice y hace. 21-23 Porque si alguien dice cosas malas, es porque es malo y siempre está pensando en el mal, y en cómo hacer cosas indecentes, o robar, o matar a otros, o ser infiel en el matrimonio. Esa gente vive pensando solamente en cómo hacerse rica, o en hacer maldades, engañar, ser envidiosa, insultar y maldecir a otros, o en ser necia y orgullosa.»
Una mujer no judía confía en Dios
24 Después, Jesús salió de allí y fue hasta la región de la ciudad de Tiro. En ese lugar, se quedó unos días en una casa, y no quería que nadie supiera dónde estaba. Pero no pudo esconderse.
25-26 Una mujer supo que Jesús estaba en el lugar, y fue a buscarlo, pues su hija tenía un espíritu malo. Esta mujer no era judía; era de la región de Fenicia, que está en Siria. Cuando encontró a Jesús, se arrodilló delante de él y le rogó que librara del espíritu malo a su hija. 27 Pero Jesús le dijo:
—Deja que primero coman los hijos, pues no está bien quitarles la comida para echársela a los perros.[d]
28 Y ella le contestó:
—¡Señor, eso es cierto! Pero aun los perros comen las sobras que se les caen a los hijos debajo de la mesa.
29 Jesús le dijo:
—¡Mujer, es muy cierto lo que dices! Vete tranquila a tu casa, pues el demonio ya salió de tu hija.
30 La mujer regresó a su casa y, cuando llegó, encontró a su hija acostada en la cama. El demonio ya había salido de ella.
Jesús sana a un hombre sordo y tartamudo
31 Jesús volvió a salir de la región de Tiro. Pasó por la región de Sidón y llegó al Lago de Galilea, en el territorio de Decápolis.[e] 32 Allí le llevaron a Jesús un hombre sordo y tartamudo, y le rogaron que pusiera las manos sobre él para sanarlo. 33 Jesús tomó al hombre y lo llevó aparte, lejos de la gente. Luego puso sus dedos en los oídos del hombre y le puso saliva en la lengua. 34 Después miró al cielo, suspiró y dijo: «¡Efatá!», palabra que significa «¡Ábrete!» 35 En ese momento el hombre pudo oír y hablar normalmente.
36 Jesús le ordenó a la gente que no se lo contara a nadie; pero cuanto más lo ordenaba, más lo contaba la gente, 37 porque estaba muy admirada y decía: «Jesús todo lo hace bien. ¡Hasta puede hacer que los sordos oigan y que los mudos hablen!»

- Marcos 7:1 Lavarse las manos: Los judíos tenían reglas estrictas en cuanto a cómo y cuándo lavarse las manos, especialmente si habían estado en contacto con otras personas. Tocar a un enfermo, o a alguien que no fuera judío (o aun tocar algo suyo) era suficiente para que a un judío no se le permitiera adorar a Dios en el templo.
- Marcos 7:11 Ofrecido a Dios: La palabra hebrea es corbán y quiere decir ofrenda. De acuerdo a las enseñanzas y costumbres de los judíos, nada de lo ofrecido a Dios podía usarse para ayudar a alguien, ni siquiera a los padres del que daba la ofrenda.

7 Nang sama-samang lumapit kay Jesus ang mga Fariseo at ilang tagapagturo ng Kautusan na nanggaling sa Jerusalem, 2 nakita nila ang ilan sa kanyang alagad na kumakaing marumi ang kamay, samakatuwid, ay hindi nahugasan ayon sa kaugalian. 3 Ang mga Fariseo at lahat ng mga Judio ay hindi kumakain nang hindi muna naghuhugas na mabuti ng mga kamay. Ginagawa nila ito bilang pagsunod sa turong minana nila sa kanilang mga ninuno. 4 Kapag nanggaling sila sa mga pamilihan, hindi sila kakain nang hindi muna naglilinis. Marami pa silang sinusunod na minanang turo gaya ng mga paghuhugas ng mga tasa, mga pitsel, at mga lalagyang tanso.[a] 5 Kaya't tinanong si Jesus ng mga Fariseo at mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan, “Bakit hindi sumusunod ang mga alagad mo sa mga turong ipinamana ng ating mga ninuno at kumakain sila nang marurumi ang kamay?” 6 Sumagot (B) si Jesus sa kanila, “Akma nga ang sinabi ni Isaias tungkol sa inyo. ‘Iginagalang ako ng mga taong ito ng kanilang mga labi,
subalit ang kanilang puso ay malayo sa akin.
7 Pagsamba sa aki'y walang kabuluhan;
pawang gawa ng tao ang kanilang katuruan.’
8 Tinatalikuran ninyo ang utos ng Diyos at niyayakap ang tradisyon ng mga tao.”
9 Sinabi pa niya sa kanila, “Napakahusay ninyong magpawalang-bisa sa utos ng Diyos, masunod lamang ang mga turong minana ninyo. 10 Isang (C) halimbawa ang sinabi ni Moises, ‘Igalang mo ang iyong ama't ina,’ at ‘Ang sinumang lumait sa ama o sa ina ay dapat mamatay!’ 11 Ngunit itinuturo naman ninyo na sinuman ang magsabi sa kanyang ama o ina, ‘Ang anumang maitutulong ko sa inyo ay Corban, ibig sabihi'y handog ko sa Diyos,’ 12 at pagkatapos ay hindi na ninyo siya hinahayaang tumulong sa kanyang ama o ina. 13 Sa gayong paraa'y pinawawalang-saysay ninyo ang salita ng Diyos sa pamamagitan ng inyong mga minanang kaugalian. Marami pa kayong ginagawang tulad nito.”

14 Muling pinalapit ni Jesus ang maraming tao at sinabi sa kanila, “Makinig kayong lahat sa akin at unawain ang sasabihin ko. 15 Hindi ang isinusubo ng tao ang nagpaparumi sa kanya; ang lumalabas sa kanya ang nagpaparumi sa tao.” 16 [Makinig ang sinumang may pandinig.][b] 17 Iniwan ni Jesus ang mga tao, at pagkapasok niya sa bahay, tinanong siya ng kanyang mga alagad tungkol sa talinghaga. 18 “Pati ba kayo'y hindi nakauunawa?” tanong ni Jesus. “Hindi ba ninyo alam na hindi nakapagpaparumi sa tao ang kinakain niya? 19 Sapagkat hindi ito pumapasok sa kanyang puso kundi sa tiyan, at pagkatapos ay idinudumi!” Sa sinabing ito ay ipinahayag niya na malinis ang lahat ng pagkain. 20 Sinabi pa niya, “Ang lumalabas sa tao ang nagpaparumi sa tao. 21 Sapagkat mula sa loob, mula sa puso ng tao, lumalabas ang masasamang pag-iisip, mga pakikiapid, mga pagnanakaw, mga pagpaslang, 22 mga pangangalunya, mga pag-iimbot, mga kabuktutan, pandaraya, kahalayan, pagkainggit, paglapastangan, kapalaluan, at kahangalan. 23 Ang lahat ng kasamaang ito ay sa loob nagmumula at siyang nagpaparumi sa tao.”

24 Umalis doon si Jesus at nagpunta sa lupain ng Tiro. Tumuloy siya sa isang bahay doon, at ayaw sana niyang malaman ninuman na naroon siya. Subalit hindi naman ito maitago. 25 Nabalitaan ng isang babaing may anak na sinasaniban ng maruming espiritu na naroon si Jesus. Kaya't nagpunta agad siya kay Jesus at nagpatirapa sa kanyang paanan. 26 Ang babaing ito ay isang Griyego, isinilang sa Sirofenicia. Nagmakaawa siya kay Jesus[c] na palayasin ang demonyo sa kanyang anak na babae. 27 Sinabi ni Jesus sa babae, “Kailangang ang mga anak muna ang mapakain. Hindi dapat kunin ang tinapay ng mga anak upang ihagis sa mga aso.” 28 Ngunit tumugon ang babae, “Opo, Panginoon, ngunit kahit na ang mga aso sa ilalim ng hapag ay kumakain ng mga nalaglag na tinapay ng mga anak.” 29 Sinabi ni Jesus sa kanya, “Dahil sa sinabi mo, maaari ka nang umuwi. Iniwan na ng demonyo ang iyong anak.” 30 Umuwi nga ang babae at nadatnan niyang nakahiga ang anak sa higaan. Iniwan na ito ng demonyo.
Pinagaling ni Jesus ang Taong Bingi
31 Sa pagbabalik ni Jesus mula sa lupain ng Tiro, dumaan siya sa Sidon patungo sa lawa ng Galilea, matapos tahakin ang lupain ng Decapolis. 32 Doon ay dinala sa kanya ng ilang tao ang isang lalaking bingi at may kapansanan sa pagsasalita. Nakiusap sila sa kanya na ipatong ang kanyang kamay sa lalaki. 33 Matapos mailayo ang lalaki mula sa karamihan, ipinasok ni Jesus ang kanyang mga daliri sa mga tainga ng bingi. Pagkatapos nito'y dumura siya at hinipo ang dila nito. 34 Tumingala siya sa langit, huminga nang malalim, at sinabi sa lalaki, “Effata!” na ibig sabihi'y “Mabuksan!” 35 Agad nakarinig ang lalaki, at parang may taling nakalag sa kanyang dila, at nakapagsalita nang malinaw. 36 Inutusan naman sila ni Jesus na huwag sabihin ito kaninuman. Ngunit habang pinagbabawalan niya ang mga tao ay lalo naman nilang ipinamamalita ang nangyari. 37 Manghang-mangha ang mga tao. Sinabi nila, “Maganda ang lahat ng kanyang ginagawa! Nakaririnig na ang bingi, at nakapagsasalita ang pipi.”

That Which Defiles(A)
7 The Pharisees and some of the teachers of the law who had come from Jerusalem gathered around Jesus 2 and saw some of his disciples eating food with hands that were defiled,(B) that is, unwashed. 3 (The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders.(C) 4 When they come from the marketplace they do not eat unless they wash. And they observe many other traditions, such as the washing of cups, pitchers and kettles.[a])(D)
5 So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, “Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders(E) instead of eating their food with defiled hands?”
6 He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:
“‘These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
7 They worship me in vain;
their teachings are merely human rules.’[b](F)
8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”(G)
9 And he continued, “You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe[c] your own traditions!(H) 10 For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’[d](I) and, ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’[e](J) 11 But you say(K) that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is Corban (that is, devoted to God)— 12 then you no longer let them do anything for their father or mother. 13 Thus you nullify the word of God(L) by your tradition(M) that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.”
14 Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. 15 Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.” [16] [f]
17 After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him(N) about this parable. 18 “Are you so dull?” he asked. “Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? 19 For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods(O) clean.)(P)
20 He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. 21 For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, 22 adultery, greed,(Q) malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. 23 All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”
Jesus Honors a Syrophoenician Woman’s Faith(R)
24 Jesus left that place and went to the vicinity of Tyre.[g](S) He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it; yet he could not keep his presence secret. 25 In fact, as soon as she heard about him, a woman whose little daughter was possessed by an impure spirit(T) came and fell at his feet. 26 The woman was a Greek, born in Syrian Phoenicia. She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter.
27 “First let the children eat all they want,” he told her, “for it is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”
28 “Lord,” she replied, “even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”
29 Then he told her, “For such a reply, you may go; the demon has left your daughter.”
30 She went home and found her child lying on the bed, and the demon gone.
Jesus Heals a Deaf and Mute Man(U)
31 Then Jesus left the vicinity of Tyre(V) and went through Sidon, down to the Sea of Galilee(W) and into the region of the Decapolis.[h](X) 32 There some people brought to him a man who was deaf and could hardly talk,(Y) and they begged Jesus to place his hand on(Z) him.
33 After he took him aside, away from the crowd, Jesus put his fingers into the man’s ears. Then he spit(AA) and touched the man’s tongue. 34 He looked up to heaven(AB) and with a deep sigh(AC) said to him, “Ephphatha!” (which means “Be opened!”). 35 At this, the man’s ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to speak plainly.(AD)
36 Jesus commanded them not to tell anyone.(AE) But the more he did so, the more they kept talking about it. 37 People were overwhelmed with amazement. “He has done everything well,” they said. “He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”
