Un plan contra Jesús
14 Faltaban dos días para que se celebrara la fiesta de la Pascua. A esta fiesta también se le llamaba fiesta de los panes sin levadura. En esos días, los sacerdotes principales y los maestros de la Ley buscaban la manera de engañar a Jesús, para poder arrestarlo y matarlo. 2 Decían entre ellos: «Vamos a hacerlo, pero no durante la fiesta, no sea que la gente se alborote y se ponga en contra de nosotros.»
Una mujer derrama perfume sobre Jesús
3 Jesús estaba en el pueblo de Betania, en casa de Simón, el que había tenido lepra. Mientras Jesús comía, llegó una mujer con un frasco de perfume muy caro. Se acercó a él, rompió el frasco y derramó el perfume sobre la cabeza de Jesús.
4 Algunos de los que estaban allí se enojaron y dijeron: «¡Qué desperdicio tan grande! 5 Ese perfume se hubiera podido vender por trescientas monedas de plata, y con el dinero podríamos haber ayudado a muchos pobres.»
Y se pusieron a criticar a la mujer, 6 pero Jesús les dijo:
«¡Déjenla tranquila! ¿Por qué la molestan? Ella hizo por mí algo bueno. 7 Cerca de ustedes siempre habrá gente pobre, y podrán ayudarla cuando lo deseen. Pero muy pronto ya no estaré con ustedes. 8 Esta mujer hizo lo único que podía hacer: derramó perfume sobre mi cabeza, sin saber que estaba preparando mi cuerpo para mi entierro. 9 Les aseguro que esto que ella hizo, se recordará en todos los lugares donde se anuncien las buenas noticias de Dios.»
Judas traiciona a Jesús
10 Judas Iscariote, uno de los doce discípulos, fue a ver a los sacerdotes principales y les prometió ayudarlos para arrestar a Jesús. 11 Ellos se alegraron al oír esto, y le ofrecieron dinero. Y desde ese momento, Judas buscaba una buena oportunidad para entregarles a Jesús.
Una cena inolvidable
12 En el primer día de la fiesta de los panes sin levadura se sacrificaba el cordero de la Pascua. Ese día, los discípulos le preguntaron a Jesús:
—¿Dónde quieres que preparemos la cena de la Pascua?
13-14 Jesús les dijo a dos de ellos:
—Vayan a Jerusalén; allí verán a un hombre que lleva un jarrón de agua. Síganlo hasta la casa donde entre, y díganle al dueño de la casa: “El Maestro quiere saber dónde está la sala en la que va a comer con sus discípulos en la noche de la Pascua.” 15 Él les mostrará una sala grande y arreglada en el piso de arriba. Preparen allí todo.
16 Los dos discípulos fueron a la ciudad y encontraron todo tal como Jesús les había dicho, y prepararon la cena de la Pascua.
17 Al anochecer, Jesús y los doce discípulos fueron al salón. 18 Mientras cenaban, Jesús dijo:
—El que va a entregarme a mis enemigos, está aquí cenando conmigo.
19 Los discípulos se pusieron muy tristes, y cada uno le dijo:
—No estarás acusándome a mí, ¿verdad?
20 Jesús respondió:
—Es uno de ustedes, y ahora mismo está mojando su pan en el mismo plato que yo. 21 La Biblia dice claramente que yo, el Hijo del hombre, tengo que morir. Sin embargo, al que me traiciona va a pasarle algo muy terrible. ¡Más le valdría no haber nacido!
22 Mientras estaban comiendo, Jesús tomó un pan y dio gracias a Dios. Luego lo partió, lo dio a sus discípulos y les dijo:
«Tomen, esto es mi cuerpo.»
23 Después tomó una copa llena de vino y dio gracias a Dios. Luego la pasó a los discípulos, y todos bebieron de ella. 24 Jesús les dijo:
«Esto es mi sangre, y con ella Dios hace un trato con todos ustedes. Esta sangre servirá para que muchos puedan ser salvos. 25 Será la última vez que yo beba este vino con ustedes. Pero cuando estemos juntos otra vez en el reino de Dios, entonces beberemos del vino nuevo.»
Pedro promete no dejar a Jesús
26 Después cantaron un himno y se fueron al Monte de los Olivos, 27 y cuando llegaron, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos:
—Todos ustedes van a perder su confianza en mí. Porque la Biblia dice:
“Mataré a mi mejor amigo,
y así mi pueblo se dispersará.”
28 »Pero después de que Dios me devuelva la vida, iré a Galilea antes que ustedes.
29 Entonces Pedro le dijo:
—Aunque todos te abandonen, yo no te abandonaré.
30 Jesús le respondió:
—Pedro, no estés muy seguro de eso; antes de que el gallo cante dos veces, tú habrás dicho tres veces que no me conoces.
31 Pero Pedro insistió:
—Aunque tenga que morir, nunca diré que no te conozco.
Los demás discípulos decían lo mismo.
Jesús ora con mucha tristeza
32 Jesús y sus discípulos fueron a un lugar llamado Getsemaní, y él les dijo: «Quédense aquí mientras yo voy a orar.»
33 Jesús invitó a Pedro, a Santiago y a Juan, para que lo acompañaran. Empezó a sentirse muy, pero muy triste, 34 y les dijo a los tres: «Estoy muy triste, y siento que me voy a morir; quédense aquí y no se duerman.»
35-36 Jesús se alejó un poco de ellos, se arrodilló y oró a Dios: «¡Padre!, ¡papá!, si fuera posible, no me dejes sufrir. Para ti todo es posible. ¡Cómo deseo que me libres de este sufrimiento! Pero que no suceda lo que yo quiero, sino lo que quieras tú.»
37 Jesús regresó a donde estaban los tres discípulos, y los encontró durmiendo. Entonces le dijo a Pedro:
«Simón, ¿te has quedado dormido? ¿No pudiste quedarte despierto ni una hora? 38 No se duerman; oren para que puedan resistir la prueba que se acerca. Ustedes quieren hacer lo bueno, pero no pueden hacerlo con sus propias fuerzas.»
39 Jesús se apartó otra vez, y repitió la misma oración. 40 Cuando regresó a donde estaban los tres discípulos, otra vez los encontró dormidos, pues estaban muy cansados. Jesús los despertó, pero ellos no sabían qué decir. 41 Luego fue a orar por tercera vez, y cuando volvió les dijo: «¿Siguen descansando y durmiendo? ¡Levántense! Ya vienen los hombres malvados para arrestarme a mí, el Hijo del hombre. 42 Levántense y vengan conmigo, que allí viene el que me va a entregar.»
Los enemigos apresan a Jesús
43 Todavía estaba hablando Jesús cuando llegó Judas, uno de los doce discípulos. Con él venían muchos hombres armados con cuchillos y palos. Los sacerdotes principales, los maestros de la Ley y los líderes judíos los habían enviado. 44 Judas ya les había dicho: «Al que yo bese, ése es Jesús. Arréstenlo y llévenselo bien atado.»
45 Judas se acercó a Jesús y le dijo: «¡Maestro!» Y lo besó.
46 Los hombres arrestaron a Jesús. 47 Pero uno de los que estaban allí sacó su espada, y le cortó una oreja al sirviente del jefe de los sacerdotes.
48 Luego Jesús preguntó a la gente:
—¿Por qué han venido con cuchillos y palos, como si fuera yo un criminal? 49 Todos los días estuve enseñando en el templo, y allí nunca me apresaron. Pero todo esto debe suceder así, para que se cumpla lo que dice la Biblia.
50 En ese momento, todos los discípulos abandonaron a Jesús y huyeron. 51 Uno de ellos era un joven que estaba cubierto sólo con una sábana. Cuando los soldados lo apresaron, 52 él dejó tirada la sábana y escapó desnudo.
El juicio contra Jesús
53-54 Pedro siguió a Jesús desde lejos, y llegó hasta el patio del palacio del jefe de los sacerdotes. Allí se sentó con los guardias junto al fuego, para calentarse.
Mientras tanto, los que habían arrestado a Jesús lo llevaron ante el jefe de los sacerdotes. Allí estaban reunidos los sacerdotes principales, los líderes judíos y los maestros de la Ley.
55 Los sacerdotes principales y todos los miembros de la Junta Suprema buscaban a alguien que acusara a Jesús, para poder condenarlo a muerte; pero no lo encontraban. 56 Muchos vinieron con mentiras en contra de Jesús, pero se contradecían entre ellos. 57 Algunos se pusieron en pie y mintieron diciendo: 58 «Nosotros oímos a Jesús decir que él iba a destruir este templo que nosotros hicimos. Él mismo dijo que en tres días iba a construir otro templo, sin la ayuda de nadie.» 59 Pero ni en eso se ponían de acuerdo los que acusaban a Jesús.
60 Entonces el jefe de los sacerdotes se puso de pie y le preguntó a Jesús:
—¿Oíste bien de qué te acusan? ¿Qué puedes decir para defenderte?
61 Pero Jesús no respondió nada, sino que se quedó callado.
El jefe de los sacerdotes volvió a preguntarle:
—¿Eres tú el Mesías, el Hijo del Dios que todos adoran?
62 Jesús le respondió:
—Así es. Y ustedes verán cuando yo, el Hijo del hombre, venga en las nubes del cielo con el poder y la autoridad que me da el Dios todopoderoso.
63-64 Al escuchar esto, el jefe de los sacerdotes se rasgó la ropa en demostración de enojo, y dijo:
—¿Qué les parece? ¿Qué deciden? Dice que él es Dios. ¡Ya no necesitamos más pruebas!
Y todos estuvieron de acuerdo en que Jesús debía morir. 65 Algunos empezaron a escupir a Jesús. Le tapaban los ojos, lo golpeaban y le decían: «¡Adivina quién te pegó!»
Luego, los soldados del templo se hicieron cargo de Jesús y lo recibieron a bofetadas.
Pedro niega que conoce a Jesús
66 Mientras pasaba todo esto, Pedro estaba en el patio del palacio. De pronto llegó una sirvienta del jefe de los sacerdotes, 67 y vio a Pedro calentándose junto al fuego; lo miró fijamente y le dijo:
—Tú siempre estabas con Jesús, el hombre de Nazaret.
68 Pedro respondió:
—Eso no es cierto; ¡no sé de qué me hablas!
Y se fue a la entrada del patio. En ese momento el gallo cantó. 69 Un poco más tarde, la sirvienta volvió a ver a Pedro, y dijo a los que estaban allí:
—Este hombre es uno de los seguidores de Jesús.
70 Pedro volvió a negarlo.
Un poco más tarde, algunos de los que estaban por allí le dijeron a Pedro:
—Estamos seguros de que tú eres uno de los seguidores de Jesús; tú también eres de la región de Galilea.
71 Pedro les contestó con más fuerza:
—¡Ya les dije que no conozco a ese hombre! ¡Que Dios me castigue si no estoy diciendo la verdad!
72 En ese momento, el gallo cantó por segunda vez, y Pedro se acordó de lo que Jesús le había dicho: «Antes de que el gallo cante dos veces, tú habrás dicho tres veces que no me conoces.» Y Pedro se puso a llorar con mucha tristeza.

Jesus Anointed at Bethany(A)(B)(C)
14 Now the Passover(D) and the Festival of Unleavened Bread were only two days away, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were scheming to arrest Jesus secretly and kill him.(E) 2 “But not during the festival,” they said, “or the people may riot.”
3 While he was in Bethany,(F) reclining at the table in the home of Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head.(G)
4 Some of those present were saying indignantly to one another, “Why this waste of perfume? 5 It could have been sold for more than a year’s wages[a] and the money given to the poor.” And they rebuked her harshly.
6 “Leave her alone,” said Jesus. “Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 7 The poor you will always have with you,[b] and you can help them any time you want.(H) But you will not always have me. 8 She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial.(I) 9 Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world,(J) what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”
10 Then Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve,(K) went to the chief priests to betray Jesus to them.(L) 11 They were delighted to hear this and promised to give him money. So he watched for an opportunity to hand him over.
The Last Supper(M)(N)
12 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, when it was customary to sacrifice the Passover lamb,(O) Jesus’ disciples asked him, “Where do you want us to go and make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”
13 So he sent two of his disciples, telling them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. 14 Say to the owner of the house he enters, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 15 He will show you a large room upstairs,(P) furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there.”
16 The disciples left, went into the city and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.
17 When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve. 18 While they were reclining at the table eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me—one who is eating with me.”
19 They were saddened, and one by one they said to him, “Surely you don’t mean me?”
20 “It is one of the Twelve,” he replied, “one who dips bread into the bowl with me.(Q) 21 The Son of Man(R) will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”
22 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it(S) and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take it; this is my body.”
23 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and they all drank from it.(T)
24 “This is my blood of the[c] covenant,(U) which is poured out for many,” he said to them. 25 “Truly I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”(V)
26 When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.(W)
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial(X)
27 “You will all fall away,” Jesus told them, “for it is written:
28 But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”(Z)
29 Peter declared, “Even if all fall away, I will not.”
30 “Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “today—yes, tonight—before the rooster crows twice[e] you yourself will disown me three times.”(AA)
31 But Peter insisted emphatically, “Even if I have to die with you,(AB) I will never disown you.” And all the others said the same.
Gethsemane(AC)
32 They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.” 33 He took Peter, James and John(AD) along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. 34 “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,”(AE) he said to them. “Stay here and keep watch.”
35 Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour(AF) might pass from him. 36 “Abba,[f] Father,”(AG) he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup(AH) from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”(AI)
37 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Simon,” he said to Peter, “are you asleep? Couldn’t you keep watch for one hour? 38 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.(AJ) The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”(AK)
39 Once more he went away and prayed the same thing. 40 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. They did not know what to say to him.
41 Returning the third time, he said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The hour(AL) has come. Look, the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 42 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”
Jesus Arrested(AM)
43 Just as he was speaking, Judas,(AN) one of the Twelve, appeared. With him was a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, the teachers of the law, and the elders.
44 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: “The one I kiss is the man; arrest him and lead him away under guard.” 45 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Rabbi!”(AO) and kissed him. 46 The men seized Jesus and arrested him. 47 Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
48 “Am I leading a rebellion,” said Jesus, “that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? 49 Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts,(AP) and you did not arrest me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled.”(AQ) 50 Then everyone deserted him and fled.(AR)
51 A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him, 52 he fled naked, leaving his garment behind.
Jesus Before the Sanhedrin(AS)(AT)
53 They took Jesus to the high priest, and all the chief priests, the elders and the teachers of the law came together. 54 Peter followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest.(AU) There he sat with the guards and warmed himself at the fire.(AV)
55 The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin(AW) were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death, but they did not find any. 56 Many testified falsely against him, but their statements did not agree.
57 Then some stood up and gave this false testimony against him: 58 “We heard him say, ‘I will destroy this temple made with human hands and in three days will build another,(AX) not made with hands.’” 59 Yet even then their testimony did not agree.
60 Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, “Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?” 61 But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer.(AY)
Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”(AZ)
62 “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”(BA)
63 The high priest tore his clothes.(BB) “Why do we need any more witnesses?” he asked. 64 “You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?”
They all condemned him as worthy of death.(BC) 65 Then some began to spit at him; they blindfolded him, struck him with their fists, and said, “Prophesy!” And the guards took him and beat him.(BD)
Peter Disowns Jesus(BE)
66 While Peter was below in the courtyard,(BF) one of the servant girls of the high priest came by. 67 When she saw Peter warming himself,(BG) she looked closely at him.
“You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus,”(BH) she said.
68 But he denied it. “I don’t know or understand what you’re talking about,”(BI) he said, and went out into the entryway.[g]
69 When the servant girl saw him there, she said again to those standing around, “This fellow is one of them.” 70 Again he denied it.(BJ)
After a little while, those standing near said to Peter, “Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean.”(BK)
71 He began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know this man you’re talking about.”(BL)
72 Immediately the rooster crowed the second time.[h] Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows twice[i] you will disown me three times.”(BM) And he broke down and wept.

14 After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.
2 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.
3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.
4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?
5 For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.
6 And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.
7 For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.
8 She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.
9 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.

11 And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.

16 And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
17 And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.
18 And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.
19 And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?
20 And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.
21 The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.
22 And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
23 And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.
24 And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.
25 Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

27 And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.
28 But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.

30 And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.
31 But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.
32 And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.
33 And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;
34 And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.
35 And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
37 And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?
38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
39 And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.
40 And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.
41 And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
42 Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.
43 And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
44 And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.
45 And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.
46 And they laid their hands on him, and took him.
47 And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
48 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?
49 I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.
50 And they all forsook him, and fled.
51 And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:
52 And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.
53 And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.
54 And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.
55 And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.
56 For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.
57 And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,
58 We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.
59 But neither so did their witness agree together.
60 And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
63 Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?
64 Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
65 And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.
66 And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:
67 And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.
68 But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.
69 And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.
70 And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.
71 But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.
72 And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.

14 Dalawang (B) araw na lamang bago ang Paskuwa at ang Pista ng Tinapay na Walang Pampaalsa. Patuloy na naghanap ng paraan ang mga punong pari at mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan kung paano palihim na maipadadakip si Jesus at maipapatay. 2 Sinabi nila, “Huwag sa panahon ng pista at baka magkagulo ang mga tao.”
Binuhusan ng Pabango si Jesus(C)
3 Samantalang (D) nasa Betania si Jesus, sa bahay ni Simon na ketongin, habang nakaupo siya sa may hapag-kainan ay dumating ang isang babaing may dalang sisidlang alabastro na puno ng pabango. Mamahalin ang pabangong ito na mula sa katas ng purong nardo. 10 Pagkatapos, si Judas Iscariote, isa sa labindalawa, ay nagpunta sa mga punong pari upang ipagkanulo si Jesus sa kanila. 11 Natuwa ang mga punong pari nang marinig ito at nangakong bibigyan siya ng salapi. Mula noo'y naghanap na siya ng pagkakataong maipagkanulo si Jesus.

Sundan ninyo siya. 14 Sabihin ninyo sa may-ari ng bahay na kanyang papasukan, ‘Ipinatatanong po ng Guro kung saang silid siya maaaring kumain ng hapunang pampaskuwa, kasalo ang kanyang mga alagad.’ 15 Ituturo niya sa inyo ang isang malaking silid sa itaas na nakahanda na at mayroon nang mga kagamitan. Doon kayo maghanda para sa atin.” 16 Kaya't umalis ang mga alagad, nagpunta sa lungsod, at natagpuan doon ang lahat ayon sa sinabi ni Jesus. At inihanda nila ang Hapunang Pampaskuwa. 17 Kinagabihan, dumating si Jesus kasama ang labindalawa. 18 Nang (H) nakaupo na sila at kumakain, sinabi ni Jesus, “Tinitiyak ko sa inyo na ipagkakanulo ako ng isa sa inyong kasalo ko ngayon.” 19 Nalungkot ang mga alagad at isa-isang nagsabi sa kanya, “Hindi ako iyon, Panginoon, di po ba?” 20 Sinabi niya sa kanila, “Isa sa inyong labindalawa na kasabay ko sa pagsawsaw sa mangkok. 21 Papanaw ang Anak ng Tao, ayon sa nasusulat tungkol sa kanya, ngunit kahabag-habag ang taong iyon na magkakanulo sa kanya! Mabuti pa sa taong iyon ang hindi na ipinanganak.”
Ang Hapunan ng Panginoon(I)
22 Habang kumakain sila, kumuha si Jesus ng tinapay at nagpasalamat sa Diyos. Pagkatapos, pinagputul-putol niya ang tinapay, ibinigay sa mga alagad at sinabi, “Tanggapin ninyo; ito ang aking katawan.” 23 Dumampot din siya ng kopa at matapos magpasalamat sa Diyos, iniabot ito sa mga alagad at mula roon ay uminom silang lahat. 24 Sinabi (J) niya sa kanila, “Ito ang aking dugo ng tipan,[b] na ibinubuhos para sa marami. 25 Katotohanan ang sinasabi ko sa inyo, hindi na ako iinom ng alak mula sa katas ng ubas hanggang sa araw na iyon na uminom ako nang panibago sa kaharian ng Diyos.” 26 Pagkaawit ng isang himno, lumabas sila at nagpunta sa Bundok ng mga Olibo.

27 Sinabi (L) ni Jesus sa kanila, “Tatalikod kayong lahat, sapagkat nasusulat, ‘Hahampasin ko ang pastol at pagwawatak-watakin ang mga tupa.’ 28 Ngunit (M) matapos na ako'y maibangon, mauuna ako sa inyo sa Galilea.” 29 Sinabi sa kanya ni Pedro, “Talikuran man kayo ng lahat, hindi ko kayo tatalikuran.” 30 Ngunit sinabi sa kanya ni Jesus, “Tinitiyak ko sa iyo na sa gabi ring ito, bago ang ikalawang pagtilaok ng tandang ay ipagkakaila mo ako ng tatlong ulit.” 31 Ngunit ipinagdiinan ni Pedro, “Mamatay man akong kasama mo, hinding-hindi ko kayo ipagkakaila.” At ganoon din ang sinabi ng lahat.
Nanalangin si Jesus sa Getsemani(N)
32 Pagkatapos ay nagpunta sila sa isang lugar na tinatawag na Getsemani. Sinabi ni Jesus sa kanyang mga alagad, “Maupo muna kayo rito habang ako'y nananalangin.” 33 Isinama niya sina Pedro, Santiago at Juan. Nagsimula siyang mabagabag at mabahala. 34 Sinabi niya sa kanila, “Ang kalooban ko'y punung-puno ng kalungkutan, na halos ikamatay ko. Maghintay kayo at magbantay.” 35 Lumayo nang kaunti si Jesus at nagpatirapa sa lupa. Idinalangin niya na kung maaari'y huwag nang dumating ang kanyang oras. 36 Sinabi niya, “Abba,[c] Ama! Kaya mong gawin ang lahat. Ilayo mo ang kopang ito sa akin. Gayunman, hindi ang nais ko kundi ang nais mo ang masunod.” 37 Bumalik siya sa mga alagad at dinatnang sila'y natutulog. Sinabi niya kay Pedro, “Simon, natutulog ka? Hindi mo ba kayang magbantay kahit isang oras? 38 Magbantay kayo at manalangin upang hindi kayo mahulog sa tukso. May pagnanais ang espiritu ngunit mahina ang laman.” 39 Umalis muli si Jesus, nanalangin at inulit ang kanyang kahilingan. 40 Nang bumalik siya sa mga alagad, sila'y muli niyang nadatnang natutulog dahil sila'y antok na antok. Hindi na nila alam ang isasagot sa kanya. 41 Sa ikatlo niyang pagbabalik ay sinabi niya sa kanila, “Natutulog pa rin kayo at nagpapahinga? Tama na! Oras na! Ipinagkakanulo na ang Anak ng Tao sa kamay ng mga makasalanan. 42 Bumangon na kayo! Umalis na tayo. Tingnan ninyo, papalapit na ang magkakanulo sa akin.”

43 Nagsasalita pa si Jesus nang dumating si Judas na isa sa Labindalawa. Kasama niya ang maraming taong may dalang mga tabak at mga pamalo. Sinugo sila ng mga punong pari, mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan at ng matatandang pinuno ng bayan. 44 Humudyat sa kanila ang magkakanulo sa kanya: “Ang hahalikan ko ang siyang hinahanap ninyo. Hulihin ninyo siya at bantayang mabuti.” 45 Kaya't sa pagdating, lumapit agad iyon kay Jesus at bumati, “Rabbi,” at siya'y kanyang hinalikan. 46 Hinawakan ng mga tao si Jesus sa kamay at dinakip. 47 Ngunit isa sa mga naroon ang bumunot ng tabak at tinaga ang alipin ng Kataas-taasang Pari. Natagpas ang tainga nito. 48 Sinabi ni Jesus sa kanila, “Ako ba'y tulisan at may dala pa kayong mga tabak at mga pamalo upang ako'y hulihin? 49 Araw-araw (P) kasama ninyo ako sa Templo habang ako'y nagtuturo, ngunit hindi ninyo ako hinuhuli. Gayunman, kailangang mangyari ito upang matupad ang sinasabi sa Kasulatan.” 50 Tumakas ang lahat ng alagad at iniwan siya.
51 Isang binata ang sumunod sa kanya nang walang damit kundi ang balabal niyang lino. Nang siya'y hinawakan ng mga tao, 52 nabitawan niya ang kanyang balabal at siya'y tumakas na hubad.
Si Jesus sa Harap ng Sanhedrin(Q)
53 Dinala nila si Jesus sa Kataas-taasang Pari at nagkaroon ng pagtitipon doon ang lahat ng mga punong pari, matatandang pinuno ng bayan at mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan. 54 Mula sa malayo ay sumunod si Pedro kay Jesus, hanggang sa loob ng patyo ng Kataas-taasang Pari. Naupo siyang kasama ng mga kawal at nagpainit sa tabi ng siga. 55 Naghahanap ng katibayan laban kay Jesus ang mga punong pari at ang buong Sanhedrin upang siya'y maipapatay, ngunit wala silang matagpuan. 56 Maraming nagbigay ng maling pahayag tungkol sa kanya, ngunit hindi nagkakatugma ang mga ito. 57 May mga tumayo at nagsabi ng ganitong kasinungalingan, 58 “Narinig (R) naming sinabi ng taong iyan, ‘Gigibain ko ang templong ito na gawa ng tao, at sa loob ng tatlong araw ay magtatayo ako ng ibang templo na hindi gawa ng mga kamay.’ ” 59 Ngunit hindi pa rin nagkakatugma ang mga pahayag nila. 60 Tumayo sa harapan ng kapulungan ang Kataas-taasang Pari at tinanong si Jesus, “Wala ka bang isasagot? Ano itong sinasabi nila laban sa iyo?” 61 Subalit nanatiling tahimik si Jesus at hindi sumagot. Tinanong siyang muli ng Kataas-taasang Pari, “Ikaw ba ang Cristo, ang Anak ng Pinagpala?” 62 Sumagot (S) si Jesus, “Ako nga. At makikita ninyo ang Anak ng Taong nakaupo sa kanan ng Makapangyarihan, dumarating na nasa ulap ng himpapawid.” 63 Pinunit ng Kataas-taasang Pari ang kanyang damit at nagsabi, “Kailangan pa ba natin ng saksi? 64 Narinig (T) na ninyo ang paglapastangan! Ano sa palagay ninyo?” At siya'y hinatulan nilang lahat na karapat-dapat siyang mamatay. 65 Sinimulan siyang duraan ng ilan sa mga naroon, piniringan ang kanyang mga mata, at siya'y pinagsusuntok. “Hulaan mo kung sino ang sumuntok sa iyo!” sabi nila. Kinuha siya ng mga bantay at pinagsasampal.
Ipinagkaila ni Pedro si Jesus(U)
66 Samantala, si Pedro na nasa ibaba ay nilapitan ng isa sa mga aliping babae ng Kataas-taasang Pari. 67 Nakita niya si Pedro na nagpapainit sa tabi ng siga, tinitigan niya ito at sinabi, “Kasama ka rin ni Jesus na taga-Nazareth.” 68 Ngunit nagkaila si Pedro, “Hindi ko alam at hindi ko naiintindihan ang sinasabi mo.” At lumabas siya sa pasilyo [at pagkatapos ay tumilaok ang manok.][d] 69 Muli siyang nakita doon ng aliping babae at sinabi sa mga naroon, “Ang taong ito'y isa sa kanila.” 70 Ngunit muling nagkaila si Pedro. Pagkaraan ng ilang sandali ay sinabi ng mga nakatayo roon kay Pedro, “Talagang isa ka sa kanila dahil ikaw ay taga-Galilea.” 71 Ngunit si Pedro'y nagsimulang magmura at sumumpa, “Hindi ko kilala ang taong sinasabi ninyo!” 72 Siya namang pagtilaok ng manok sa ikalawang pagkakataon. Naalala ni Pedro ang sinabi sa kanya ni Jesus, “Bago ang ikalawang pagtilaok ng tandang ay ipagkakaila mo ako ng tatlong ulit.” Nanlumo siya at tumangis.
