Juan el Bautista prepara el camino(A)
1 Comienzo del evangelio de Jesucristo, Hijo de Dios.[a]
2 Sucedió como está escrito en el profeta Isaías:
«Yo enviaré a mi mensajero delante de ti,
el cual preparará tu camino».[b]
3 «Voz de uno que grita en el desierto:
“Preparad el camino del Señor,
haced derechas sus sendas”».[c]
4 Así se presentó Juan, bautizando en el desierto y predicando el bautismo de arrepentimiento para el perdón de pecados. 5 Toda la gente de la región de Judea y de la ciudad de Jerusalén acudía a él. Cuando confesaban sus pecados, él los bautizaba en el río Jordán. 6 Y Juan llevaba un vestido de pelo de camello. Llevaba puesto un cinturón de cuero, y comía langostas y miel silvestre. 7 Predicaba de esta manera: «Detrás de mí viene uno más poderoso que yo; ni siquiera merezco agacharme para desatar la correa de sus sandalias. 8 Yo os he bautizado con[d] agua, pero él os bautizará con el Espíritu Santo».
Bautismo y tentación de Jesús(B)(C)
9 En esos días llegó Jesús desde Nazaret de Galilea y fue bautizado por Juan en el Jordán. 10 En seguida, al subir del agua, Jesús vio que el cielo se abría y que el Espíritu bajaba sobre él como una paloma. 11 También se oyó una voz del cielo que decía: «Tú eres mi Hijo amado; estoy muy complacido contigo».
12 En seguida el Espíritu lo impulsó a ir al desierto, 13 y allí fue tentado por Satanás durante cuarenta días. Estaba entre las fieras, y los ángeles le servían.
Llamamiento de los primeros discípulos(D)
14 Después de que encarcelaran a Juan, Jesús se fue a Galilea a anunciar las buenas nuevas de Dios. 15 «Se ha cumplido el tiempo —decía—. El reino de Dios está cerca. ¡Arrepentíos y creed las buenas nuevas!»
16 Pasando por la orilla del mar de Galilea, Jesús vio a Simón y a su hermano Andrés que echaban la red al lago, pues eran pescadores. 17 «Venid, seguidme —les dijo Jesús—, y os haré pescadores de hombres». 18 Al momento dejaron las redes y lo siguieron.
19 Un poco más adelante vio a Jacobo y a su hermano Juan, hijos de Zebedeo, que estaban en su barca remendando las redes. 20 En seguida los llamó, y ellos, dejando a su padre Zebedeo en la barca con los jornaleros, se fueron con Jesús.
Jesús expulsa a un espíritu maligno(E)
21 Entraron en Capernaún y, tan pronto como llegó el sábado, Jesús fue a la sinagoga y se puso a enseñar. 22 La gente se asombraba de su enseñanza, porque la impartía como quien tiene autoridad y no como los maestros de la ley. 23 De repente, en la sinagoga, un hombre que estaba poseído por un espíritu maligno gritó:
24 ―¿Por qué te entrometes, Jesús de Nazaret? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? Yo sé quién eres tú: ¡el Santo de Dios!
25 ―¡Cállate! —lo reprendió Jesús—. ¡Sal de ese hombre!
26 Entonces el espíritu maligno sacudió al hombre violentamente y salió de él dando un alarido. 27 Todos se quedaron tan asustados que se preguntaban unos a otros: «¿Qué es esto? ¡Una enseñanza nueva, pues lo hace con autoridad! Ordena incluso a los espíritus malignos, y le obedecen». 28 Como resultado, su fama se extendió rápidamente por toda la región de Galilea.
Jesús sana a muchos enfermos(F)(G)
29 Tan pronto como salieron de la sinagoga, Jesús fue con Jacobo y Juan a casa de Simón y Andrés. 30 La suegra de Simón estaba en cama con fiebre, y en seguida se lo dijeron a Jesús. 31 Él se le acercó, la tomó de la mano y la ayudó a levantarse. Entonces se le fue la fiebre y se puso a servirles.
32 Al atardecer, cuando ya se ponía el sol, la gente le llevó a Jesús todos los enfermos y endemoniados, 33 de manera que la población entera se estaba congregando a la puerta. 34 Jesús sanó a muchos que padecían de diversas enfermedades. También expulsó a muchos demonios, pero no los dejaba hablar porque sabían quién era él.
Jesús ora en un lugar solitario(H)
35 Muy de madrugada, cuando todavía estaba oscuro, Jesús se levantó, salió de la casa y se fue a un lugar solitario, donde se puso a orar. 36 Simón y sus compañeros salieron a buscarlo.
37 Por fin lo encontraron y le dijeron:
―Todo el mundo te busca.
38 Jesús respondió:
―Vámonos de aquí a otras aldeas cercanas donde también pueda predicar; para esto he venido.
39 Así que recorrió toda Galilea, predicando en las sinagogas y expulsando demonios.
Jesús sana a un leproso(I)
40 Un hombre que tenía lepra se le acercó y, de rodillas, le suplicó:
―Si quieres, puedes limpiarme.
41 Movido a compasión, Jesús extendió la mano y tocó al hombre, diciéndole:
―Sí, quiero. ¡Queda limpio!
42 Al instante se le quitó la lepra y quedó sano.[e] 43 Jesús lo despidió en seguida con una fuerte advertencia:
44 ―Mira, no se lo digas a nadie; solo ve, preséntate al sacerdote y lleva por tu purificación lo que ordenó Moisés, para que les sirva de testimonio.
45 Pero él salió y comenzó a hablar sin reserva, divulgando lo sucedido. Como resultado, Jesús ya no podía entrar en ningún pueblo abiertamente, sino que se quedaba afuera, en lugares solitarios. Aun así, gente de todas partes seguía acudiendo a él.

1 Ésta es la historia de cómo empezaron a anunciarse las buenas noticias acerca de Jesús, que es el Hijo de Dios y el Mesías. 2 Todo comenzó como Dios lo había anunciado por medio del profeta Isaías:
«Yo envío a mi mensajero
delante de ti,
y él va a preparar todo
para tu llegada.
3 »Alguien grita en el desierto:
“¡Prepárenle el camino a nuestro Dios!
¡Ábranle paso!
¡Que no encuentre estorbos!”»
4-8 Por esos días, Juan el Bautista apareció en el desierto. Se vestía con ropa hecha de pelo de camello y usaba un taparrabos de cuero. Comía saltamontes y miel silvestre.
Juan le decía a la gente: «¡Bautícense y demuestren que ya no quieren hacer lo malo! Sólo así Dios los perdonará.» También decía: «Después de mí viene alguien más poderoso que yo. ¡Ni siquiera merezco ser su esclavo! Yo los he bautizado a ustedes con agua, pero él los bautizará con el Espíritu Santo.»
Todos los que vivían en la región de Judea, y en Jerusalén, iban al desierto para oír a Juan. Muchos confesaban sus pecados y Juan los bautizaba en el río Jordán.
Juan bautiza a Jesús
9 En esos días, Jesús estaba en la región de Galilea, en un pueblo llamado Nazaret. Desde allí viajó hasta el río Jordán, donde Juan lo bautizó. 10 Cuando Jesús salió del agua, vio que se abría el cielo, y que el Espíritu de Dios bajaba sobre él en forma de paloma. 11 En ese momento, una voz que venía del cielo le dijo: «Tú eres mi Hijo, a quien quiero mucho. Estoy muy contento contigo.»
Jesús vence al diablo
12 De inmediato, el Espíritu de Dios llevó a Jesús al desierto. 13 Y Jesús estuvo allí cuarenta días, viviendo entre los animales salvajes. Satanás trataba de hacerlo caer en sus trampas, pero los ángeles de Dios cuidaban a Jesús.
Jesús comienza su trabajo
14 Después de que metieron a Juan en la cárcel, Jesús fue a la región de Galilea. Allí anunciaba las buenas noticias acerca de Dios: 15 «¡Ya está cerca el día en que Dios comenzará a reinar! Vuélvanse a Dios y crean en la buena noticia.»
Jesús elige a cuatro pescadores
16 Jesús pasaba por la orilla del Lago de Galilea, cuando vio a Simón y a Andrés, dos pescadores que eran hermanos, y que estaban pescando con sus redes. 17 Jesús les dijo: «Síganme. En lugar de pescar peces, les voy a enseñar a ganar seguidores para mí.»
18 En ese mismo instante, Simón y Andrés dejaron sus redes y siguieron a Jesús.
19 Un poco más adelante, Jesús vio a Santiago y a Juan, hijos de Zebedeo. Ellos también eran pescadores, y estaban en una barca arreglando las redes. 20 Jesús los llamó, y ellos lo siguieron, dejando a su padre en la barca, con los empleados.
El hombre con un espíritu malo
21 Jesús y sus discípulos fueron al pueblo de Cafarnaúm. El sábado, Jesús fue a la sinagoga y comenzó a enseñar. 22 Todos estaban admirados de sus enseñanzas, pues cuando les hablaba, lo hacía con autoridad, y no como los maestros de la Ley.
23 En la sinagoga, había un hombre que tenía un espíritu malo. 24 El espíritu le gritó a Jesús:
—¡Jesús de Nazaret! ¿Qué tienes contra nosotros? ¿Acaso vienes a destruirnos? Yo te conozco. ¡Tú eres el Hijo de Dios![a]
25 Jesús reprendió al espíritu malo y le dijo:
—¡Cállate! ¡Sal de este hombre!
26 El espíritu malo salió gritando y haciendo que el hombre se pusiera a temblar muy fuerte.
27 La gente se quedó muy asombrada, y se preguntaba: «¿Qué es esto? ¿Una nueva enseñanza? ¿Qué clase de poder tiene este hombre? Con autoridad y poder ordena a los espíritus malos que salgan, ¡y ellos lo obedecen!»
28 Y Jesús se hizo famoso en toda la región de Galilea.
Jesús sana a mucha gente
29 Luego Jesús salió de la sinagoga y se fue con Santiago y Juan a la casa de Simón y Andrés. 30 Cuando entró en la casa, le dijeron que la suegra de Simón estaba enferma y con fiebre. 31 Jesús fue a verla, la tomó de la mano y la levantó. En ese mismo instante la fiebre se le fue, y la suegra de Simón les sirvió de comer.
32 Al anochecer, la gente le llevó a Jesús todos los enfermos y todos los que tenían demonios. 33 Todo el pueblo se reunió a la entrada de la casa de Simón. 34 Allí Jesús sanó a mucha gente que tenía diferentes enfermedades, y también expulsó a muchos demonios. Pero no dejaba hablar a esos demonios, porque ellos lo conocían.
Jesús anuncia las buenas noticias
35 En la madrugada, Jesús se levantó y fue a un lugar solitario para orar. 36 Más tarde, Simón y sus compañeros salieron a buscarlo. 37 Cuando lo encontraron, le dijeron:
—Todos te andan buscando.
38 Pero Jesús les dijo:
—Vamos a otros pueblos cercanos. También allí debo anunciar estas buenas noticias, pues para eso vine al mundo.
39 Jesús recorrió toda la región de Galilea anunciando las buenas noticias en las sinagogas de cada pueblo, y expulsando a los demonios.
Jesús sana a un leproso
40 Un hombre que tenía la piel enferma se acercó a Jesús, se arrodilló ante él y le dijo:
—Señor, yo sé que tú puedes sanarme.[b] ¿Quieres hacerlo?
41 Jesús tuvo compasión del enfermo, extendió la mano, lo tocó y le dijo:
—¡Quiero hacerlo! ¡Ya estás sano!
42 De inmediato, aquel hombre quedó completamente sano; 43 pero Jesús lo despidió con una seria advertencia:
44 —No le digas a nadie lo que te sucedió. Sólo ve con el sacerdote para que te examine, y lleva la ofrenda que Moisés ordenó.[c] Así los sacerdotes verán que ya no tienes esa enfermedad.
45 Pero el hombre empezó a contarles a todos cómo había sido sanado. Por eso Jesús no podía entrar libremente en los pueblos, sino que tenía que quedarse en las afueras, donde no había gente. De todos modos, la gente iba a verlo.

John the Baptist Prepares the Way(A)
1 The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah,[a] the Son of God,[b](B) 2 as it is written in Isaiah the prophet:
“I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way”[c](C)—
3 “a voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”[d](D)
4 And so John the Baptist(E) appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance(F) for the forgiveness of sins.(G) 5 The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. 6 John wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist,(H) and he ate locusts(I) and wild honey. 7 And this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.(J) 8 I baptize you with[e] water, but he will baptize you with[f] the Holy Spirit.”(K)
The Baptism and Testing of Jesus(L)(M)
9 At that time Jesus came from Nazareth(N) in Galilee and was baptized by John(O) in the Jordan. 10 Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove.(P) 11 And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son,(Q) whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”(R)
12 At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness, 13 and he was in the wilderness forty days,(S) being tempted[g] by Satan.(T) He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.
Jesus Announces the Good News(U)
14 After John(V) was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee,(W) proclaiming the good news of God.(X) 15 “The time has come,”(Y) he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe(Z) the good news!”(AA)
Jesus Calls His First Disciples
16 As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 17 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 18 At once they left their nets and followed him.(AB)
19 When he had gone a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets. 20 Without delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.
Jesus Drives Out an Impure Spirit(AC)
21 They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.(AD) 22 The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.(AE) 23 Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out, 24 “What do you want with us,(AF) Jesus of Nazareth?(AG) Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”(AH)
25 “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!”(AI) 26 The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.(AJ)
27 The people were all so amazed(AK) that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.” 28 News about him spread quickly over the whole region(AL) of Galilee.
Jesus Heals Many(AM)(AN)
29 As soon as they left the synagogue,(AO) they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. 30 Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her. 31 So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up.(AP) The fever left her and she began to wait on them.
32 That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed.(AQ) 33 The whole town gathered at the door, 34 and Jesus healed many who had various diseases.(AR) He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.(AS)
Jesus Prays in a Solitary Place(AT)
35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.(AU) 36 Simon and his companions went to look for him, 37 and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”
38 Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.”(AV) 39 So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues(AW) and driving out demons.(AX)
Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy(AY)
40 A man with leprosy[h] came to him and begged him on his knees,(AZ) “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”
41 Jesus was indignant.[i] He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” 42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.
43 Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: 44 “See that you don’t tell this to anyone.(BA) But go, show yourself to the priest(BB) and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing,(BC) as a testimony to them.” 45 Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places.(BD) Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.(BE)

Johannes döparen förbereder vägen för Jesus
1 Här börjar den underbara berättelsen om Jesus Kristus, Guds son.
2 Allt började som Skriften förutsagt: Gud ska sända en budbärare, som kommer att förbereda världen på att Guds Son ska komma.
3 Profeten Jesaja kunde se framåt i tiden och beskriva den uppgift denne budbärare skulle ha. Jesaja sa: Jag hör någon ropa i öknen: 'Gör vägen fri för Herren. Röj undan alla hinder, så att han kan komma fram!'
4 Den budbärare som Jesaja talade om var Johannes döparen. Han levde i öknen där han predikade att alla skulle vända sig till Gud, så att Gud kunde förlåta dem deras synder.
5 Från Jerusalem och hela Judeen strömmade människor ut i den judiska ödemarken för att se och höra Johannes, och när de bekände sina synder, döpte han dem i Jordanfloden.
6 Johannes hade kläder som var vävda av kamelhår, och han hade ett läderbälte runt midjan. Han levde av gräshoppor och vildhonung.
7 Hans budskap var klart:Snart kommer en som är mycket större än jag, så mycket större att jag inte ens är värdig att vara hans slav.
8 Jag döper er i vatten, men han kommer att döpa er i Guds helige ande!
Johannes döper Jesus
9 En dag kom Jesus från Nasaret i Galileen och blev döpt av Johannes i Jordanfloden.
10 I det ögonblick då Jesus steg upp ur vattnet såg han himlen öppna sig, och den helige Ande sänkte sig ner som en duva över honom.
11 Och en röst från himlen sa: Du är min älskade son. Du är min glädje.
Djävulen frestar Jesus i öknen
12-13 Omedelbart därefter blev Jesus ledd ut i öknen av den helige Ande. Där frestade djävulen honom i fyrtio dagar, och han levde ensam tillsammans med de vilda djuren. Och änglarna kom och stod till hans tjänst.
Jesus beger sig till Galileen för att predika
14 Sedan Johannes arresterats av kung Herodes gick Jesus till Galileen för att predika Guds goda nyheter.
15 Äntligen är tiden inne, sa han. Guds rike är nära! Vänd er bort från era synder och tro på de goda nyheterna.
Fyra fiskare följer med Jesus
16 När Jesus en dag vandrade längs Galileiska sjöns stränder fick han se Simon och hans bror Andreas stå och kasta ut nät. De var nämligen fiskare till yrket.
17 Jesus ropade till dem: Följ med mig, jag ska visa er hur ni kan vinna människor för Gud!
18 De lämnade genast sina nät och följde med honom.
19 Lite längre bort på stranden fick han se Sebedaios söner, Jakob och Johannes. De satt i en båt och lagade nät.
20 Han kallade på dem också, och de lämnade omedelbart sin far Sebedaios och de andra som de fiskat tillsammans med för att följa med Jesus.
Jesus undervisar med stor auktoritet
21 Jesus och hans följeslagare kom nu till staden Kafarnaum. På sabbatsdagens morgon gick de till den judiska gudstjänstlokalen - synagogan - där Jesus predikade.
22 Hans tal gjorde starkt intryck på dem som lyssnade. Det var annat än vad deras religiösa ledare brukade säga, och man frågade sig om det inte var Gud själv som talade genom Jesus.
23 I synagogan fanns en man som var besatt av en ond ande, och han började skrika:
24 Vad vill du oss, Jesus från Nasaret? Du har bara kommit för att ta död på oss andar. Jag vet faktiskt vem du är, Guds helige son!
25 Jesus befallde anden att inte säga något mer och att komma ut ur mannen.
26 Då började anden att rycka och slita i mannen och for ut ur honom med ett våldsamt skrik.
27 Folket i synagogan blev förskräckta och började diskutera vad som hänt.Vad är det här för en ny religion? frågade de upprört. Till och med de onda andarna lyder hans order!
28 Nyheterna om vad han gjorde spred sig snabbt genom hela Galileen.
Jesus botar Petrus svärmor och många andra
29-30 När han hade lämnat synagogan, gick han och hans lärjungar till Simons och Andreas hem, där Simons svärmor var sjuk och sängliggande med hög feber. De berättade det omedelbart för Jesus.
31 Han gick då in till henne och tog henne i handen och reste henne upp. Då lämnade febern henne plötsligt, och hon steg upp och lagade till mat åt dem.
32-34 På kvällen vid solnedgången var hela gårdsplanen fylld av sjuka och andebesatta människor som man kommit till honom med för att de skulle bli botade. Nästan alla i Kafarnaum var där. Och han befallde många onda andar att släppa greppet om sina offer. Han förbjöd också andarna att tala eftersom de visste vem han var.
Jesus predikar över hela Galileen
35 Nästa morgon var han uppe långt före gryningen och gick ensam ut i öknen för att be.
36-37 Senare gick Simon och de andra ut för att leta reda på honom och när de fann honom sa de: Alla frågar efter dig.
38 Men han svarade: Vi måste gå till andra städer också och låta dem få del av mitt budskap. Det är därför jag har kommit.
39 Han vandrade sedan genom hela Galileen och predikade i synagogorna och befriade många från de onda andarnas makt.
Jesus botar en leprasjuk
40 En gång kom en leprasjuk och föll ner framför honom och tiggde och bad om att få bli botad. Om du vill, så kan du göra mig frisk igen, sa han.
41 Jesus greps av medlidande och lade sin hand på honom och sa: Det vill jag. Du är frisk!
42 Omedelbart försvann sjukdomen, och mannen var botad.
43-44 Jesus sa sedan strängt till honom: Gå genast till den judiske prästen och låt honom undersöka dig. Och stanna inte på vägen för att tala med någon. Som tack för att du blivit botad ska du ta med det offer som Mose föreskrivit. Då kommer alla att se att Gud har botat dig.
45 Men när mannen gick sin väg, började han berätta för allt och alla att han blivit frisk. Därför kunde Jesus inte visa sig offentligt i någon stad, utan måste hålla till ute i ödemarken. Men människorna kom ändå till honom från alla håll.

4 John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
5 And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
6 And John was clothed with camel's hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey;
7 And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose.
8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
11 And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
12 And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness.
13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.
14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
16 Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
17 And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
18 And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him.
19 And when he had gone a little farther thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.
20 And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.
21 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.
22 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes.
23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,
24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.
26 And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.
27 And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.
28 And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee.
29 And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
30 But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her.
31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.
32 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.
33 And all the city was gathered together at the door.
34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.
35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
36 And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.
37 And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.
38 And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.
39 And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.
40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
42 And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.
43 And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;
44 And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
45 But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.
