15 Ac yn y fan, y bore, yr ymgynghorodd yr archoffeiriaid gyda’r henuriaid a’r ysgrifenyddion, a’r holl gyngor: ac wedi iddynt rwymo’r Iesu, hwy a’i dygasant ef ymaith, ac a’i traddodasant at Peilat. 2 A gofynnodd Peilat iddo, Ai ti yw Brenin yr Iddewon? Yntau a atebodd ac a ddywedodd wrtho, Yr wyt ti yn dywedyd. 3 A’r archoffeiriaid a’i cyhuddasant ef o lawer o bethau: eithr nid atebodd efe ddim. 4 A Pheilat drachefn a ofynnodd iddo, gan ddywedyd, Onid atebi di ddim? wele faint o bethau y maent yn eu tystiolaethu yn dy erbyn. 5 Ond yr Iesu eto nid atebodd ddim; fel y rhyfeddodd Peilat. 6 Ac ar yr ŵyl honno y gollyngai efe yn rhydd iddynt un carcharor, yr hwn a ofynnent iddo. 7 Ac yr oedd un a elwid Barabbas, yr hwn oedd yn rhwym gyda’i gyd‐derfysgwyr, y rhai yn y derfysg a wnaethent lofruddiaeth. 8 A’r dyrfa gan grochlefain, a ddechreuodd ddeisyf arno wneuthur fel y gwnaethai bob amser iddynt. 9 A Pheilat a atebodd iddynt, gan ddywedyd, A fynnwch chwi i mi ollwng yn rhydd i chwi Frenin yr Iddewon? 10 (Canys efe a wyddai mai o genfigen y traddodasai’r archoffeiriaid ef.) 11 A’r archoffeiriaid a gynyrfasent y bobl, fel y gollyngai efe yn hytrach Barabbas yn rhydd iddynt. 12 A Pheilat a atebodd ac a ddywedodd drachefn wrthynt, Beth gan hynny a fynnwch i mi ei wneuthur i’r hwn yr ydych yn ei alw Brenin yr Iddewon? 13 A hwythau a lefasant drachefn, Croeshoelia ef. 14 Yna Peilat a ddywedodd wrthynt, Ond pa ddrwg a wnaeth efe? A hwythau a lefasant fwyfwy, Croeshoelia ef.
15 A Pheilat yn chwennych bodloni’r bobl, a ollyngodd yn rhydd iddynt Barabbas; a’r Iesu, wedi iddo ei fflangellu, a draddododd efe i’w groeshoelio. 16 A’r milwyr a’i dygasant ef i fewn y llys, a elwir Pretorium: a hwy a alwasant ynghyd yr holl fyddin; 17 Ac a’i gwisgasant ef â phorffor, ac a blethasant goron o ddrain, ac a’i dodasant am ei ben; 18 Ac a ddechreuasant gyfarch iddo, Henffych well, Brenin yr Iddewon. 19 A hwy a gurasant ei ben ef â chorsen, ac a boerasant arno, a chan ddodi eu gliniau i lawr, a’i haddolasant ef. 20 Ac wedi iddynt ei watwar ef, hwy a ddiosgasant y porffor oddi amdano, ac a’i gwisgasant ef â’i ddillad ei hun, ac a’i dygasant allan i’w groeshoelio. 21 A hwy a gymellasant un Simon o Cyrene, yr hwn oedd yn myned heibio, wrth ddyfod o’r wlad, sef tad Alexander a Rwffus, i ddwyn ei groes ef. 22 A hwy a’i harweiniasant ef i le a elwid Golgotha; yr hyn o’i gyfieithu yw, Lle’r benglog: 23 Ac a roesant iddo i’w yfed win myrllyd: eithr efe nis cymerth. 24 Ac wedi iddynt ei groeshoelio, hwy a ranasant ei ddillad ef, gan fwrw coelbren arnynt, beth a gâi pob un. 25 A’r drydedd awr oedd hi; a hwy a’i croeshoeliasant ef. 26 Ac yr oedd ysgrifen ei achos ef wedi ei hargraffu, BRENIN YR IDDEWON. 27 A hwy a groeshoeliasant gydag ef ddau leidr; un ar y llaw ddeau, ac un ar yr aswy iddo. 28 A’r ysgrythur a gyflawnwyd, yr hon a ddywed, Ac efe a gyfrifwyd gyda’r rhai anwir. 29 A’r rhai oedd yn myned heibio a’i cablasant ef, gan ysgwyd eu pennau, a dywedyd, Och, tydi yr hwn wyt yn dinistrio’r deml, ac yn ei hadeiladu mewn tridiau, 30 Gwared dy hun, a disgyn oddi ar y groes. 31 Yr un ffunud yr archoffeiriaid hefyd yn gwatwar, a ddywedasant wrth ei gilydd, gyda’r ysgrifenyddion, Eraill a waredodd, ei hun nis gall ei wared. 32 Disgynned Crist, Brenin yr Israel, yr awr hon oddi ar y groes, fel y gwelom, ac y credom. A’r rhai a groeshoeliesid gydag ef, a’i difenwasant ef. 33 A phan ddaeth y chweched awr, y bu tywyllwch ar yr holl ddaear hyd y nawfed awr. 34 Ac ar y nawfed awr y dolefodd yr Iesu â llef uchel, gan ddywedyd, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? yr hyn o’i gyfieithu yw, Fy Nuw, fy Nuw, paham y’m gadewaist? 35 A rhai o’r rhai a safent gerllaw, pan glywsant, a ddywedasant, Wele, y mae efe yn galw ar Eleias. 36 Ac un a redodd, ac a lanwodd ysbwng yn llawn o finegr, ac a’i dododd ar gorsen, ac a’i diododd ef, gan ddywedyd, Peidiwch, edrychwn a ddaw Eleias i’w dynnu ef i lawr. 37 A’r Iesu a lefodd â llef uchel, ac a ymadawodd â’r ysbryd. 38 A llen y deml a rwygwyd yn ddwy, oddi fyny hyd i waered. 39 A phan welodd y canwriad, yr hwn oedd yn sefyll gerllaw gyferbyn ag ef, ddarfod iddo yn llefain felly ymado â’r ysbryd, efe a ddywedodd, Yn wir Mab Duw oedd y dyn hwn. 40 Ac yr oedd hefyd wragedd yn edrych o hirbell: ymhlith y rhai yr oedd Mair Magdalen, a Mair mam Iago fychan a Jose, a Salome; 41 Y rhai hefyd, pan oedd efe yng Ngalilea, a’i dilynasant ef, ac a weiniasant iddo; a gwragedd eraill lawer, y rhai a ddaethent gydag ef i fyny i Jerwsalem.
42 Pan ydoedd hi weithian yn hwyr, (am ei bod hi yn ddarpar‐ŵyl, sef y dydd cyn y Saboth,) 43 Daeth Joseff o Arimathea, cynghorwr pendefigaidd, yr hwn oedd yntau yn disgwyl am deyrnas Dduw, ac a aeth yn hy i mewn at Peilat, ac a ddeisyfodd gorff yr Iesu. 44 A rhyfedd oedd gan Peilat o buasai efe farw eisoes: ac wedi iddo alw y canwriad ato, efe a ofynnodd iddo a oedd efe wedi marw ers meitin. 45 A phan wybu gan y canwriad, efe a roddes y corff i Joseff. 46 Ac efe a brynodd liain main, ac a’i tynnodd ef i lawr, ac a’i hamdôdd yn y lliain main, ac a’i dododd ef mewn bedd a naddasid o’r graig; ac a dreiglodd faen ar ddrws y bedd. 47 A Mair Magdalen a Mair mam Jose a edrychasant pa le y dodid ef.

Jesus perante Pilatos(A)
15 E, logo ao amanhecer, os principais dos sacerdotes, e os anciãos, e os escribas, e todo o Sinédrio tiveram conselho; e, amarrando Jesus, o levaram e entregaram a Pilatos. 2 E Pilatos lhe perguntou: Tu és o Rei dos judeus? E ele, respondendo, disse-lhe: Tu o dizes. 3 E os principais dos sacerdotes o acusavam de muitas coisas, porém ele nada respondia. 4 E Pilatos o interrogou outra vez, dizendo: Nada respondes? Vê quantas coisas testificam contra ti. 5 Mas Jesus nada mais respondeu, de maneira que Pilatos se maravilhava.
6 Ora, no dia da festa costumava soltar-lhes um preso qualquer que eles pedissem. 7 E havia um chamado Barrabás, que, preso com outros amotinadores, tinha num motim cometido uma morte. 8 E a multidão, dando gritos, começou a pedir que fizesse como sempre lhes tinha feito. 9 E Pilatos lhes respondeu, dizendo: Quereis que vos solte o Rei dos judeus? 10 Porque ele bem sabia que, por inveja, os principais dos sacerdotes o tinham entregado. 11 Mas os principais dos sacerdotes incitaram a multidão para que fosse solto antes Barrabás. 12 E Pilatos, respondendo, lhes disse outra vez: Que quereis, pois, que faça daquele a quem chamais Rei dos judeus? 13 E eles tornaram a clamar: Crucifica-o. 14 Mas Pilatos lhes disse: Mas que mal fez? E eles cada vez clamavam mais: Crucifica-o. 15 Então, Pilatos, querendo satisfazer a multidão, soltou-lhes Barrabás, e, açoitado Jesus, o entregou para que fosse crucificado.
16 E os soldados o levaram para dentro do palácio, à sala da audiência, e convocaram toda a coorte. 17 E vestiram-no de púrpura e, tecendo uma coroa de espinhos, lha puseram na cabeça. 18 E começaram a saudá-lo, dizendo: Salve, Rei dos judeus! 19 E feriram-no na cabeça com uma cana, e cuspiram nele, e, postos de joelhos, o adoravam. 20 E, havendo-o escarnecido, despiram-lhe a púrpura, e o vestiram com as suas próprias vestes, e o levaram para fora, a fim de o crucificarem.
A crucificação(B)
21 E constrangeram um certo Simão Cireneu, pai de Alexandre e de Rufo, que por ali passava, vindo do campo, a que levasse a cruz.
22 E levaram-no ao lugar do Gólgota, que se traduz por lugar da Caveira. 23 E deram-lhe a beber vinho com mirra, mas ele não o tomou. 24 E, havendo-o crucificado, repartiram as suas vestes, lançando sobre eles sortes, para saber o que cada um levaria. 25 E era a hora terceira, e o crucificaram. 26 E, por cima dele, estava escrita a sua acusação: O Rei dos Judeus. 27 E crucificaram com ele dois salteadores, um à sua direita, e outro à esquerda. 28 E cumpriu-se a Escritura que diz: E com os malfeitores foi contado. 29 E os que passavam blasfemavam dele, meneando a cabeça e dizendo: Ah! Tu que derribas o templo e, em três dias, o edificas! 30 Salva-te a ti mesmo e desce da cruz. 31 E da mesma maneira também os principais dos sacerdotes, com os escribas, diziam uns para os outros, zombando: Salvou os outros e não pode salvar-se a si mesmo. 32 O Cristo, o Rei de Israel, desça agora da cruz, para que o vejamos e acreditemos.
Também os que com ele foram crucificados o injuriavam.
33 E, chegada a hora sexta, houve trevas sobre toda a terra até à hora nona. 34 E, à hora nona, Jesus exclamou com grande voz, dizendo: Eloí, Eloí, lemá sabactâni? Isso, traduzido, é: Deus meu, Deus meu, por que me desamparaste? 35 E alguns dos que ali estavam, ouvindo isso, diziam: Eis que chama por Elias. 36 E um deles correu a embeber uma esponja em vinagre e, pondo-a numa cana, deu-lho a beber, dizendo: Deixai, vejamos se virá Elias tirá-lo. 37 E Jesus, dando um grande brado, expirou. 38 E o véu do templo se rasgou em dois, de alto a baixo. 39 E o centurião que estava defronte dele, vendo que assim clamando expirara, disse: Verdadeiramente, este homem era o Filho de Deus.
40 E também ali estavam algumas mulheres, olhando de longe, entre as quais também Maria Madalena, e Maria, mãe de Tiago, o menor, e de José, e Salomé, 41 as quais também o seguiam e o serviam, quando estava na Galileia; e muitas outras que tinham subido com ele a Jerusalém.
A sepultura de Jesus(C)
42 E, chegada a tarde, porquanto era o Dia da Preparação, isto é, a véspera do sábado, 43 chegou José de Arimateia, senador honrado, que também esperava o Reino de Deus, e ousadamente foi a Pilatos, e pediu o corpo de Jesus. 44 E Pilatos se admirou de que já estivesse morto. E, chamando o centurião, perguntou-lhe se já havia muito que tinha morrido. 45 E, tendo-se certificado pelo centurião, deu o corpo a José, 46 o qual comprara um lençol fino, e, tirando-o da cruz, o envolveu nele, e o depositou num sepulcro lavrado numa rocha, e revolveu uma pedra para a porta do sepulcro. 47 E Maria Madalena e Maria, mãe de José, observavam onde o punham.

Jesus Faces Pilate(A)
15 Immediately, (B)in the morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council; and they bound Jesus, led Him away, and (C)delivered Him to Pilate. 2 (D)Then Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?”
He answered and said to him, “It is as you say.”
3 And the chief priests accused Him of many things, but He (E)answered nothing. 4 (F)Then Pilate asked Him again, saying, “Do You answer nothing? See how many things [a]they testify against You!” 5 (G)But Jesus still answered nothing, so that Pilate marveled.
Taking the Place of Barabbas(H)
6 Now (I)at the feast he was accustomed to releasing one prisoner to them, whomever they requested. 7 And there was one named Barabbas, who was chained with his fellow rebels; they had committed murder in the rebellion. 8 Then the multitude, [b]crying aloud, began to ask him to do just as he had always done for them. 9 But Pilate answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?” 10 For he knew that the chief priests had handed Him over because of envy.
11 But (J)the chief priests stirred up the crowd, so that he should rather release Barabbas to them. 12 Pilate answered and said to them again, “What then do you want me to do with Him whom you call the (K)King of the Jews?”
13 So they cried out again, “Crucify Him!”
14 Then Pilate said to them, “Why, (L)what evil has He done?”
But they cried out all the more, “Crucify Him!”
15 (M)So Pilate, wanting to gratify the crowd, released Barabbas to them; and he delivered Jesus, after he had scourged Him, to be (N)crucified.
The Soldiers Mock Jesus(O)
16 (P)Then the soldiers led Him away into the hall called [c]Praetorium, and they called together the whole garrison. 17 And they clothed Him with purple; and they twisted a crown of thorns, put it on His head, 18 and began to salute Him, “Hail, King of the Jews!” 19 Then they (Q)struck Him on the head with a reed and spat on Him; and bowing the knee, they worshiped Him. 20 And when they had (R)mocked Him, they took the purple off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him out to crucify Him.
The King on a Cross(S)
21 (T)Then they compelled a certain man, Simon a Cyrenian, the father of Alexander and Rufus, as he was coming out of the country and passing by, to bear His cross. 22 (U)And they brought Him to the place Golgotha, which is translated, Place of a Skull. 23 (V)Then they gave Him wine mingled with myrrh to drink, but He did not take it. 24 And when they crucified Him, (W)they divided His garments, casting lots for them to determine what every man should take.
25 Now (X)it was the third hour, and they crucified Him. 26 And (Y)the inscription of His [d]accusation was written above:
THE KING OF THE JEWS.
27 (Z)With Him they also crucified two robbers, one on His right and the other on His left. 28 [e]So the Scripture was fulfilled which says, (AA)“And He was numbered with the transgressors.”
29 And (AB)those who passed by blasphemed Him, (AC)wagging their heads and saying, “Aha! (AD)You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, 30 save Yourself, and come down from the cross!”
31 Likewise the chief priests also, (AE)mocking among themselves with the scribes, said, “He saved (AF)others; Himself He cannot save. 32 Let the Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may see and [f]believe.”
Even (AG)those who were crucified with Him reviled Him.
Jesus Dies on the Cross(AH)
33 Now (AI)when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. 34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, (AJ)“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
35 Some of those who stood by, when they heard that, said, “Look, He is calling for Elijah!” 36 Then (AK)someone ran and filled a sponge full of sour wine, put it on a reed, and (AL)offered it to Him to drink, saying, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to take Him down.”
37 (AM)And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last.
38 Then (AN)the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. 39 So (AO)when the centurion, who stood opposite Him, saw that [g]He cried out like this and breathed His last, he said, “Truly this Man was the Son of God!”
40 (AP)There were also women looking on (AQ)from afar, among whom were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the Less and of Joses, and Salome, 41 who also (AR)followed Him and ministered to Him when He was in Galilee, and many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem.
Jesus Buried in Joseph’s Tomb(AS)
42 (AT)Now when evening had come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath, 43 Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent council member, who (AU)was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, coming and taking courage, went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 44 Pilate marveled that He was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him if He had been dead for some time. 45 So when he found out from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph. 46 (AV)Then he bought fine linen, took Him down, and wrapped Him in the linen. And he laid Him in a tomb which had been hewn out of the rock, and rolled a stone against the door of the tomb. 47 And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses observed where He was laid.
