Chúa Giê-xu bị cám dỗ(A)
4 Sau đó Thánh Linh đưa Chúa Giê-xu vào đồng hoang để chịu ma quỉ cám dỗ. 2 Ngài đã cữ ăn suốt bốn mươi ngày và bốn mươi đêm nên Ngài đói lả. 3 Ma quỉ [a] đến cám dỗ Ngài rằng, “Nếu ngươi là Con Thượng Đế thì hãy biến những viên đá nầy thành bánh đi.”
4 Chúa Giê-xu đáp, “Thánh Kinh chép,
‘Người ta không phải chỉ sống nhờ bánh mà thôi đâu
mà còn nhờ vào những lời phán của Thượng Đế.’” (B)
5 Rồi ma quỉ đưa Ngài vào thành thánh Giê-ru-sa-lem và đặt Ngài lên một đỉnh cao của đền thờ. 6 Nó nói với Ngài, “Nếu anh là Con Thượng Đế thì hãy nhảy xuống đi, vì Thánh Kinh có chép:
‘Ngài sẽ sai thiên sứ bảo vệ ngươi.
Các thiên sứ ấy sẽ giữ ngươi trong tay
để chân ngươi khỏi vấp nhằm đá.’” (C)
7 Chúa Giê-xu đáp, “Cũng có lời Thánh Kinh viết, ‘Ngươi chớ nên thách thức Chúa là Thượng Đế ngươi.’” [b]
8 Sau đó ma quỉ đưa Ngài lên một đỉnh núi cao, chỉ cho Ngài thấy hết mọi quốc gia trên thế giới cùng mọi vẻ huy hoàng của các nước ấy. 9 Ma quỉ nói, “Nếu ngươi cúi đầu bái lạy ta, ta sẽ cho ngươi tất cả các quốc gia nầy.”
10 Chúa Giê-xu mắng nó, “Nầy Sa-tăng, hãy đi cho khuất mắt ta! Có lời Thánh Kinh viết,
‘Ngươi phải thờ lạy Chúa là Thượng Đế ngươi
và chỉ phục vụ một mình Ngài mà thôi.’” (D)
11 Ma quỉ bỏ đi, liền có thiên sứ đến chăm sóc Ngài.
Chúa Giê-xu bắt đầu chức vụ ở Ga-li-lê(E)
12 Khi Chúa Giê-xu nghe tin Giăng bị tù thì Ngài trở về vùng Ga-li-lê. 13 Ngài rời thành Na-xa-rét và đến cư ngụ tại Ca-bê-nâm, một thị trấn gần hồ Ga-li-lê, bên cạnh vùng Xê-bu-lôn và Nép-ta-li. 14 Ngài làm như thế để thực hiện lời nhà tiên tri Ê-sai đã nói:
15 “Đất Xê-bu-lôn và Nép-ta-li
dọc con đường đi đến biển,
phía tây sông Giô-đanh.
Đó là miền Ga-li-lê nơi dân ngoại quốc sinh sống.
16 Các dân ấy sống trong bóng tối
nhưng đã thấy ánh sáng lớn.
Những người ở nơi bóng chết che phủ
đã được ánh sáng chiếu vào.” (F)
17 Từ lúc ấy, Chúa Giê-xu bắt đầu giảng dạy, “Hãy ăn năn vì nước thiên đàng gần đến rồi.”
Chúa Giê-xu tuyển chọn một số môn đệ(G)
18 Trong khi đang đi dọc theo hồ Ga-li-lê, Ngài thấy hai anh em: Xi-môn còn gọi là Phia-rơ và em là Anh-rê. Hai người đang quăng lưới xuống hồ, vì họ làm nghề đánh cá. 19 Chúa Giê-xu gọi họ, “Hãy theo ta, ta sẽ biến các anh thành những tay đánh lưới người.” 20 Xi-môn và Anh-rê liền bỏ lưới đi theo Ngài.
21 Ngài tiếp tục đi dọc theo bờ hồ Ga-li-lê, thì thấy hai anh em khác nữa là Gia-cơ và Giăng, con Xê-bê-đê. Hai người đang ngồi trong thuyền vá lưới với Xê-bê-đê, cha mình. Chúa Giê-xu gọi họ. 22 Họ liền bỏ thuyền và cha mình lại rồi đi theo Chúa Giê-xu.
Chúa Giê-xu dạy dỗ và chữa lành dân chúng(H)
23 Chúa Giê-xu đi khắp miền Ga-li-lê, giảng dạy trong các hội đường, rao giảng Tin Mừng về Nước Trời, chữa lành dân chúng khỏi các bệnh tật. 24 Tiếng đồn về Ngài loan ra khắp xứ Xy-ri nên dân chúng mang tất cả những người bệnh đến với Ngài. Họ mắc đủ thứ bệnh. Người thì bị đau đớn, kẻ bị quỉ ám, người bị động kinh, kẻ bị bại liệt. Chúa Giê-xu chữa lành cho tất cả. 25 Nhiều người từ miền Ga-li-lê, vùng Thập Tỉnh, Giê-ru-sa-lem, Giu-đia và vùng đất phía tây sông Giô-đanh đi theo Ngài.

A tentação de Jesus
(Mc 1.12-13; Lc 4.1-13)
4 Então, Jesus foi levado pelo Espírito ao deserto para ser tentado pelo diabo. 2 Depois de não comer nada durante quarenta dias e quarenta noites, Jesus teve fome. 3 Então o diabo[a] se aproximou dele e disse:
—Se você é mesmo o Filho de Deus, mande estas pedras se transformarem em pão.
4 Jesus, porém, respondeu:
—As Escrituras dizem: “O ser humano não vive só de pão, mas de tudo o que Deus diz”.(A)
5 Então o diabo o levou à cidade santa de Jerusalém e o colocou na parte mais alta do templo 6 e lhe disse:
—Se você é mesmo o Filho de Deus, atire-se daqui, pois as Escrituras dizem:
“Deus dará ordens aos seus anjos
para que cuidem de você.
Eles vão segurá-lo com as suas mãos
para que nem mesmo os seus pés se machuquem nas pedras”.(B)
7 Jesus, porém, respondeu:
—Mas as Escrituras também dizem: “Não ponha à prova o Senhor, seu Deus”.(C)
8 Então o diabo o levou para um lugar muito alto e lhe mostrou todos os reinos do mundo e a glória que eles tinham. 9 Depois, disse:
—Eu lhe darei tudo isto se você se ajoelhar e me adorar.
10 Jesus lhe disse:
—Vá embora daqui, Satanás! As Escrituras dizem: “Adore ao Senhor, seu Deus, e sirva somente a ele”.(D)
11 Depois disto, o diabo o deixou e anjos vieram e o serviram.
Jesus começa o seu trabalho na Galileia
(Mc 1.14-15; Lc 4.14-15)
12 Quando Jesus ouviu dizer que João tinha sido preso, voltou para a Galileia, 13 mas não permaneceu em Nazaré. Ele foi viver em Cafarnaum, cidade próxima do lago da Galileia, na região de Zebulom e Naftali. 14 Isto aconteceu para que se cumprisse o que tinha sido dito por Deus por meio do profeta Isaías:
15 “Terra de Zebulom e de Naftali!
Caminho do mar e terra do outro lado do rio Jordão!
Galileia, onde muitos estrangeiros vivem!
16 O povo que vive na escuridão
viu uma grande luz,
e até os que vivem nas regiões sombrias da morte
foram iluminados por esta luz”.(E)
17 Daí em diante, Jesus começou a proclamar a mensagem, dizendo:
—Mudem a sua forma de pensar e de viver, pois o reino de Deus está próximo.
Os primeiros discípulos
(Mc 1.16-20; Lc 5.1-11)
18 Jesus estava andando pela beira do lago da Galileia quando viu dois irmãos: Simão, também conhecido como Pedro, e André. Eles eram pescadores e estavam jogando suas redes no lago 19 quando Jesus lhes disse:
—Sigam-me e eu tornarei vocês em pescadores de pessoas. 20 E eles deixaram as suas redes naquele momento e o seguiram.
21 Jesus continuou caminhando e encontrou outros dois irmãos, Tiago e João, filhos de Zebedeu. Eles estavam no barco com seu pai, consertando as suas redes. Jesus os chamou 22 e eles, imediatamente, deixaram seu pai e o barco e o seguiram.
Jesus ensina e cura muita gente
(Lc 6.17-19)
23 Jesus viajou por toda a região da Galileia, ensinando nas sinagogas, proclamando as Boas Novas do reino de Deus e curando todo tipo de doença e de enfermidade entre o povo. 24 A fama de Jesus se espalhou por toda a região da Síria e o povo levou a ele todos os doentes que sofriam de vários tipos de doenças e males. Ele curou a todos: os que tinham dores, os que estavam possuídos por demônios, os epiléticos e os paralíticos. 25 Muitas pessoas o seguiam. Esta gente vinha da Galileia, de Decápolis, de Jerusalém, da Judeia e também de toda a região situada do outro lado do rio Jordão.

Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness(A)
4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a](B) by the devil.(C) 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights,(D) he was hungry. 3 The tempter(E) came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God,(F) tell these stones to become bread.”
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[b]”(G)
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city(H) and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,”(I) he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:
“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[c]”(J)
7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[d]”(K)
8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan!(L) For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[e]”(M)
11 Then the devil left him,(N) and angels came and attended him.(O)
Jesus Begins to Preach
12 When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison,(P) he withdrew to Galilee.(Q) 13 Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum,(R) which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali— 14 to fulfill(S) what was said through the prophet Isaiah:
15 “Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles—
16 the people living in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.”[f](T)
17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven(U) has come near.”
Jesus Calls His First Disciples(V)
18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee,(W) he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter(X) and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,”(Y) Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.(Z)
21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John.(AA) They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.(AB)
Jesus Heals the Sick
23 Jesus went throughout Galilee,(AC) teaching in their synagogues,(AD) proclaiming the good news(AE) of the kingdom,(AF) and healing every disease and sickness among the people.(AG) 24 News about him spread all over Syria,(AH) and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed,(AI) those having seizures,(AJ) and the paralyzed;(AK) and he healed them. 25 Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis,[g] Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.(AL)
