Jézus megdicsőülése(A)

Hat nap múlva Jézus maga mellé vette Pétert, Jakabot és Jánost, felvitte csak őket külön egy magas hegyre, és szemük láttára elváltozott.

Ruhája olyan tündöklő fehérré lett, amilyenre nem tud ruhafestő fehéríteni a földön.

És megjelent nekik Illés Mózessel együtt, és beszélgettek Jézussal.

Péter megszólalt, és ezt mondta Jézusnak: "Mester, jó nekünk itt lennünk, készítsünk ezért három sátrat: egyet neked, egyet Mózesnek és egyet Illésnek."

Mert nem tudta, mit mondjon, ugyanis annyira megrettentek.

De felhő támadt, amely beárnyékolta őket, és hang hallatszott a felhőből: "Ez az én szeretett Fiam, reá hallgassatok!"

És hirtelen, amint körülnéztek, már senki mást nem láttak maguk mellett, csak Jézust egyedül.

Amikor jöttek lefelé a hegyről, meghagyta nekik, hogy senkinek el ne mondják, amit láttak, hanem csak akkor, amikor az Emberfia már feltámadt a halottak közül.

10 Meg is jegyezték jól ezt az igét, de tanakodtak maguk között: mit jelent feltámadni a halottak közül.

11 Ezért megkérdezték tőle: "Miért mondják az írástudók, hogy előbb Illésnek kell eljönnie?"

12 Ő pedig így válaszolt: "Illés valóban előbb jön el és helyreállít mindent. Akkor viszont miért van megírva az Emberfiáról, hogy sok szenvedésben és megvetésben lesz része?

13 De mondom nektek, hogy Illés már el is jött, és azt tették vele, amit csak akartak, ahogyan meg van írva róla."

A néma lélek kiűzése(B)

14 Amikor a tanítványok közelébe értek, nagy sokaságot láttak körülöttük, írástudókat is, akik vitatkoztak velük.

15 Amint meglátták Jézust, az egész sokaság nyomban megdöbbent, és eléje futva köszöntötte őt.

16 Ő pedig megkérdezte tőlük: "Miről vitatkoztok velük?"

17 A sokaságból így felelt neki valaki: "Mester, elhoztam hozzád a fiamat, akiben néma lélek van;

18 és amikor ez megragadja, úgy leteperi őt, hogy tajtékzik, fogát csikorgatja, és megmerevedik. Szóltam tanítványaidnak, hogy űzzék ki, de nem tudták."

19 Jézus így válaszolt nekik: "Ó, hitetlen nemzedék, meddig leszek még veletek? Meddig szenvedlek még titeket? Hozzátok őt elém!"

20 Odavitték hozzá, és amikor meglátta őt a lélek, azonnal megrázta a fiút, úgyhogy az a földre esve fetrengett és tajtékzott.

21 Jézus megkérdezte a fiú apjától: "Mennyi ideje, hogy ő így van?" Mire ő ezt válaszolta: "Gyermekkora óta.

22 Sokszor vetette tűzbe is, meg vízbe is, hogy elpusztítsa, de ha valamit lehet tenned, szánj meg minket, és segíts rajtunk!"

23 Jézus ezt mondta neki: "Ha lehet valamit tennem? - Minden lehetséges annak, aki hisz."

24 Erre azonnal felkiáltott a gyermek apja, és így szólt: "Hiszek, segíts a hitetlenségemen!"

25 Amikor meglátta Jézus, hogy összefut a sokaság, ráparancsolt a tisztátalan lélekre ezt mondva neki: "Te néma és süket lélek, megparancsolom neked: menj ki belőle, és ne menj bele többé!"

26 Erre az felkiáltott, erősen megrázta őt, és kiment belőle. A gyermek olyan lett, mint a halott, úgyhogy sokan azt mondták: vége van.

27 Jézus azonban kezét megragadva magához térítette, és az felkelt.

28 Amikor azután Jézus bement egy házba, tanítványai megkérdezték tőle maguk között: "Mi miért nem tudtuk kiűzni?"

29 Ő pedig ezt mondta nekik: "Ez a fajta semmivel sem űzhető ki, csak imádsággal."

Jézus másodszor szól haláláról és feltámadásáról(C)

30 Onnan elindulva keresztülmentek Galileán, de nem akarta, hogy felismerje őt valaki,

31 mert tanítani akarta tanítványait. Arról beszélt nekik, hogy az Emberfia emberek kezébe adatik, megölik, de miután megölték, három nap múlva feltámad.

32 Ők nem értették ezt a beszédet, de féltek őt megkérdezni.

A kisgyermek példája(D)

33 Megérkeztek Kapernaumba, és amikor már otthon volt, megkérdezte tőlük: "Miről vitatkoztatok útközben?"

38 János ezt mondta neki: "Mester, láttunk valakit, aki a te nevedben űz ki ördögöket, és eltiltottuk, mert nem követett minket."

39 Jézus azonban ezt mondta: "Ne tiltsátok el, mert nincsen senki, aki csodát tesz az én nevemben, és ugyanakkor gyalázni tudna engem,

40 mert aki nincs ellenünk, az mellettünk van.

41 Aki inni ad nektek egy pohár vizet az én nevemben, mivel a Krisztuséi vagytok, bizony, mondom néktek, hogy el nem marad a jutalma."

Óvás a megbotránkoztatástól(F)

42 "Aki pedig akár csak egyet is megbotránkoztat e kicsinyek közül, akik hisznek bennem, jobb annak, ha malomkövet kötnek a nyakába, és a tengerbe dobják."

43 "Ha megbotránkoztat téged az egyik kezed, vágd le, mert jobb, ha csonkán mégy be az életre, mint ha két kézzel mégy a gyehennára, az olthatatlan tűzre,

44 (ahol férgük nem pusztul el, és a tűz nem alszik el.)

45 És ha az egyik lábad botránkoztat meg téged, vágd le; mert jobb, ha sántán mégy be az életre, mintha két lábbal vetnek a gyehennára,

46 (ahol férgük nem pusztul el és a tűz nem alszik el.)

47 És ha az egyik szemed botránkoztat meg téged, vájd ki, mert jobb, ha fél szemmel mégy be az Isten országába, mint ha két szemmel vetnek a gyehennára,

Three Disciples See Jesus Transformed, And Hear God Tell Them To Listen To Jesus

And after six days, Jesus takes along Peter and James and John, and brings them up on a high mountain privately, alone. And He was transfigured[c] in front of them. And His garments became shining[d], very white, such as a bleacher[e] on earth is not able to make so white. And Elijah appeared to them, with Moses. And they were talking-with Jesus. And having responded, Peter says to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here. And let us make three dwellings[f]— one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah”. For he did not know what he should respond, for they became terrified. And there came-to-be a cloud overshadowing[g] them. And a voice came out of the cloud: “This is My beloved Son. Be listening-to Him”. And suddenly, having looked around, they no longer saw anyone with themselves but Jesus alone.

The Disciples Ask, Wasn’t Elijah Supposed To Come Before The Messiah?

And while they were coming down from the mountain, He gave orders to them that they should relate to no one the things which they saw, except when the Son of Man rises-up from the dead. 10 And they held[h] the matter to themselves, discussing what the ‘rising-up from the dead’ meant. 11 And they were questioning Him, saying “Why is it that the scribes say that Elijah must come first[i]?” 12 And the One said to them, “Elijah, having come first, restores all things— and-yet how has it been written for[j] the Son of Man that He would suffer many things and be treated-with-contempt[k]? 13 But I say to you that Elijah indeed has come[l], and they did to him whatever they were wanting, just as it has been written for him”.

A Father Pleads With Jesus To Heal His Son Whom The Disciples Could Not Heal

14 And having come to the disciples, they saw a large crowd around them, and scribes debating[m] with them. 15 And immediately all the multitude, having seen Him, were struck-with-wonder. And running-up, they were greeting Him. 16 And He asked them, “What are you debating with them?” 17 And one from the crowd answered Him, “Teacher, I brought my son having a mute spirit to You. 18 And wherever it overcomes[n] him, it throws-him-to-the-ground, and he foams-at-the-mouth and grinds his teeth and becomes-stiff. And I spoke[o] to Your disciples in order that they might cast it out, and they were not strong-enough [p]”. 19 And the One, having responded to them, says “O unbelieving[q] generation, how long will I be with you? How long will I bear-with you? Bring him to Me”. 20 And they brought him to Him. And having seen Him, the spirit immediately convulsed him. And having fallen on the ground, he was rolling-himself while foaming-at-the-mouth. 21 And He asked his father, “How long is it since this has happened to him?” And the one said, “From childhood. 22 And it often threw him even into fire and into waters in order that it might destroy him. But if You are able to do anything, help[r] us, having felt-deep-feelings [of pity] toward us”. 23 And Jesus said to him, “‘If You are able?’ All things are possible for the one believing”. 24 Immediately, having cried-out, the father of the child was saying, “I believe. Help my unbelief ”. 25 And Jesus, having seen that a crowd is running-together-upon them, rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it “Mute and deaf spirit, I command you— come out of him and enter into him no longer”. 26 And having cried-out, and having convulsed him greatly, it came out. And he became as if dead, so that the majority were saying that “He died”. 27 But Jesus, having taken hold of his hand, raised him. And he stood-up. 28 And He having entered into a house, His disciples were questioning Him privately, “Why is it that we were not able to cast it out?” 29 And He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing except by prayer”.

Jesus Again Teaches His Disciples That He Must Die And Be Raised

30 And having gone forth from there, they were passing through Galilee. And He was not wanting anyone to know it. 31 For He was teaching His disciples, and saying to them that “The Son of Man is being handed-over into the hands of men. And they will kill Him. And having been killed, He will rise-up after three days”. 32 But the ones were not-understanding the statement, and they were fearing to question Him.

The Disciples Argue About Who Is The Greatest. Jesus Says, To Be First You Must Be Last

33 And they came to Capernaum. And having come-to-be in the house, He was questioning them, “What were you discussing on the way?” 34 But the ones were being silent. For on the way they argued with one another who was greater[s]. 35 And having sat-down, He called the twelve. And He says to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he shall[t] be last of all, and servant of all”.

Whoever Welcomes a Child In My Name Welcomes Me

36 And having taken a child, He stood him[u] in the middle of them. And having taken him in His arms, He said to them, 37 “Whoever welcomes one such-as-these children[v] on the basis of My name, welcomes Me. And whoever welcomes Me does not [merely] welcome Me, but the One having sent Me forth”.

John Recalls an Instance When The Disciples Did Not Welcome Someone

38 John said to Him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting-out demons in Your name. And we were forbidding him because he was not following us”. 39 But Jesus said, “Do not be forbidding him. For there is no one who will do a miracle on the basis of My name, and soon be able to speak-evil-of Me. 40 For he who is not against[w] us is for us. 41 For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in the name that you are Christ’s— truly I say to you that he will by no means lose his reward.

Whoever Causes One of These Little Ones To Fall Would Be Better Off Dead

42 “And whoever causes one of these little ones believing in Me to fall— it would be better for him if instead a donkey’s millstone[x] were lying around his neck, and he had[y] been thrown into the sea.

Better To Remove Whatever Causes You To Fall Than To Go Into Hell

43 And if your hand should be causing you to fall, cut[z] it off. It is better that you enter into life crippled than go into Gehenna[aa] having two hands— into the inextinguishable[ab] fire. 44 [ac] 45 And if your foot should be causing you to fall, cut it off. It is better that you enter into life lame than be thrown into Gehenna having two feet. 46 [ad] 47 And if your eye should be causing you to fall, throw it out. It is better that you enter into the kingdom of God one-eyed than be thrown into Gehenna having two eyes— 48 where their worm[ae] does not come-to-an-end, and the fire is not quenched. 49 For everyone will be salted with fire.

Have Salt In Yourselves, And Live In Peace

50 “Salt is good. But if the salt should become unsalty, with what will you season it? Be having salt[af] in yourselves, and be living-in-peace with one another”.

14 And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.

15 And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him.

16 And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them?

17 And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;

18 And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.

19 He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.

20 And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.

21 And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.

22 And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.

24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.

27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.

28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?

29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

30 And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.

31 For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day.

32 But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.

34 But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest.

38 And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us.

39 But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me.

40 For he that is not against us is on our part.

41 For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

42 And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.

43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
