²⁹ As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening.

Jesus Transfigured on the Mount

^2 (A)Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. ³ His clothes became shining, exceedingly ^(B)white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them.

The Trustworthy Prophetic Word^(A)

¹⁶ For we did not follow ^(B)cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the ^(C)power and ^(D)coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were ^(E)eyewitnesses of His majesty. ¹⁷ For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: ^(F)“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” ¹⁸ And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on ^(G)the holy mountain.

² and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.

The Shining Face of Moses

²⁹ Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the ^(A)two tablets of the Testimony were in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that ^(B)the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him. ³⁰ So when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him. ³¹ Then Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned to him; and Moses talked with them. ³² Afterward all the children of Israel came near, ^(C)and he gave them as commandments all that the Lord had spoken with him on Mount Sinai. ³³ And when Moses had finished speaking with them, he put ^(D)a veil on his face. ³⁴ But ^(E)whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with Him, he would take the veil off until he came out; and he would come out and speak to the children of Israel whatever he had been commanded. ³⁵ And whenever the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone, then Moses would put the veil on his face again, until he went in to speak with Him.

The Great White Throne Judgment

¹¹ Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face ^(A)the earth and the heaven fled away. ^(B)And there was found no place for them.

⁷ But ^(A)what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. ⁸ Yet indeed I also count all things loss ^(B)for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ
