⁴ When they came to Jesus, they pleaded earnestly with him, “This man deserves to have you do this,

⁶ So Jesus went with them.

He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to him: “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. ⁷ That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.^(A)

³⁷ “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.^{(A) 38} Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.^(B)

¹³ If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you.

³⁵ But those who are considered worthy of taking part in the age to come^(A) and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage,

¹¹ Whatever town or village you enter, search there for some worthy person and stay at their house until you leave.
