⁴⁴ Then he said to them, ^(A)“These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, ^(B)that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” ⁴⁵ Then ^(C)he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, ⁴⁶ and said to them, “Thus ^(D)it is written, ^(E)that the Christ should suffer and on the third day ^(F)rise from the dead, ⁴⁷ and that ^(G)repentance for^[a] the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed ^(H)in his name ^(I)to all nations, ^(J)beginning from Jerusalem. ^48 (K)You are witnesses of these things.

¹³ not like Moses, ^(A)who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end. ¹⁴ But ^(B)their minds were ^(C)hardened. For to this day, ^(D)when they read ^(E)the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away. ¹⁵ Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. ¹⁶ But when ^(F)one^[a] turns to the Lord, ^(G)the veil is removed.
