²⁰ and ^(A)how our chief priests and ^(B)rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him.

²⁷ For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because ^(A)they did not recognize him nor understand ^(B)the utterances of the prophets, which are read every Sabbath, ^(C)fulfilled them by condemning him. ²⁸ And ^(D)though they found in him no guilt worthy of death, ^(E)they asked Pilate to have him executed. ²⁹ And when ^(F)they had carried out all that was written of him, ^(G)they took him down from ^(H)the tree and laid him in a tomb.

⁸ Then Peter, ^(A)filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders, ⁹ if we are being examined today ^(B)concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed, ¹⁰ let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that ^(C)by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, ^(D)whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well.

^13 (A)The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, ^(B)the God of our fathers, ^(C)glorified his servant^[a] Jesus, whom ^(D)you delivered over and ^(E)denied in the presence of Pilate, ^(F)when he had decided to release him. ¹⁴ But you denied ^(G)the Holy and ^(H)Righteous One, and ^(I)asked for a murderer to be granted to you, ¹⁵ and you killed ^(J)the Author of life, ^(K)whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.

¹³ Pilate then called together the chief priests and ^(A)the rulers and the people,

²⁰ Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ^(A)ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.

^30 (A)The God of our fathers ^(B)raised Jesus, ^(C)whom you killed by hanging him on ^(D)a tree. ³¹ God exalted ^(E)him at his right hand as ^(F)Leader and ^(G)Savior, ^(H)to give ^(I)repentance to Israel and ^(J)forgiveness of sins.

²⁷ for truly in this city there were gathered together against your ^(A)holy servant Jesus, ^(B)whom you anointed, both ^(C)Herod and ^(D)Pontius Pilate, along ^(E)with the Gentiles and ^(F)the peoples of Israel, ^28 (G)to do whatever your hand and ^(H)your plan had predestined to take place.

Jesus Before the Council

^66 (A)When day came, ^(B)the assembly of the elders of the people gathered together, both chief priests and scribes. And they led him away to their ^(C)council, and they ^(D)said, ^67 (E)“If you are ^(F)the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe, ⁶⁸ and if I ask you, you will not answer. ⁶⁹ But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated ^(G)at the right hand of the power of God.” ⁷⁰ So they all said, “Are you ^(H)the Son of God, then?” And he said to them, ^(I)“You say that I am.” ⁷¹ Then they said, “What further testimony do we need? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips.”

Jesus Before Pilate

23 ^(J)Then the whole company of them arose and brought him before Pilate. ² And they began to accuse him, saying, “We found this man ^(K)misleading our nation and ^(L)forbidding us to give tribute to ^(M)Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, ^(N)a king.” ^3 (O)And Pilate asked him, ^(P)“Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, ^(Q)“You have said so.” ⁴ Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, ^(R)“I find no guilt in this man.” ⁵ But they were urgent, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, ^(S)from Galilee even to this place.”
