50 And there was a man named Joseph, a member of the council, and he was a good man and just. 51 He had not consented to their counsel and deed. He was from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, and he was also waiting for the kingdom of God. 52 He went to Pilate and requested the body of Jesus, 53 and took it down, wrapped it in a linen cloth, and laid it in a tomb hewn out in stone, in which no man had ever before been laid. 54 And that day was the day of preparation; and the Sabbath drew on.

55 The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed after, and saw the sepulchre and how his body was laid. 56 And they returned and prepared spices and oyntments, but rested on the Sabbath day according to the commandment.
