21 But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table.(A) 22 The Son of Man(B) will go as it has been decreed.(C) But woe to that man who betrays him!” 23 They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who would do this.

21 “But look, the hand of the one who betrays[a] me is with me on the table.[b] 22 For the Son of Man is to go just as it has been determined,[c] but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!” 23 So[d] they began to question one another as to which of them it could possibly be who would do this.

- Luke 22:21 sn The point of Jesus’ comment here is not to identify the specific individual per se, but to indicate that it is one who was close to him—somebody whom no one would suspect. His comment serves to heighten the treachery of Judas’ betrayal.
